Since I really enjoyed the pink dress thread that The Fail stole for an article I wanted to give you a head's up on their latest horror. It doesn't actually look too bad on the model but believe me it is Seventies polyester nightie chic.

Yellow dress

Surely M&S are going to wake up soon and realise just how sodding awful their clothing is?

I'm trying hard to feel sad about a once-great British bastion of fashion so firmly headed for bankruptcy and oblivion, but they're just so God damned determined about sticking to their current trajectory I'm feeling less & less sympathetic with each polyester-shrouded season. Angry

The packed TK Maxx style jumble rails at 70% off should be some sort of wake-up call

A very good point. I had the same thought going through our local store earlier this week.

I saw this beaut in store the other day. It's a sight for sore eyes. By that I mean it will actually give you sore eyes.

Went in the other day and saw these gems

Oi! M&S!!

All most of us are looking for is something like Hobbs. With sleeves.

Some of the Indigo range is OK, but seriously, we don't need jeans in Autograph, Collection, Classic, Per Una and Indigo.

You're duplicating different items across the shop.

One jeans range. One workwear range. One 'smart' range. A small 'dressy uppy' range.

Stop stuffing lots of different expensive items into the shop like it's Primark.

And lay off the polyester. Angry

Gingernaut · 04/08/2017 20:02

Liberty style ditsy prints and lace are 'in'.

Apparently.

The dress that WhataHexIgotinto is referring to.

Can you imagine the insects you would attract?

badbadhusky · 04/08/2017 20:08

Can I respectfully request that images are posted along with the initial WTF? I am now being chased by the flowery frock.

Gingernaut · 04/08/2017 20:08

I've always found yellow attracted insects. Mainly greenflies.

OxfordshireLass · 04/08/2017 20:08

Perhaps god designers have been watching repeats of The Good Life and are channeling Margo? Can't think of another explanation.

Strokethefurrywall · 04/08/2017 20:12

Sweet baby Jesus.

Are M&S deliberately trying to flush their share price down the toilet??

badbadhusky · 04/08/2017 20:12

I've always found yellow attracted insects. Mainly greenflies.

There was a wall display in the waiting room about bee/wasp stings & allergies last time I took DS to his paeds outpatient appointment. It said to avoid wearing bright coloured clothing, especially florals, and perfume, as both will attract insects.

48% would recommend to a friend? With friends like that, who needs enemies!

poweredbybread · 04/08/2017 20:23

Nightdress on steroids!

alpacasandwich · 04/08/2017 20:32

It looks like the maternity nighties my mum wore in the 80s when she was pregnant with me.

reuset · 04/08/2017 20:46

That's a nightdress surely? Like something out of a period drama though obviously the wrong colour Very voluminous.

herecomesthsun · 04/08/2017 20:47

The pink dress was down to £7.99 from around £50ish in my local Marks yesterday. There were still loads...

At last! The revenge of the Remainers!! Grin

Ewanwhosearmy · 04/08/2017 21:16

In the style of choir robes. Hideous.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 04/08/2017 21:30

M&S' attempt to combine fashion and road safety is not a success.

livefrommysofa · 04/08/2017 21:55

I love the yellow dress, I was look at it for my upcoming holiday to the south of France. I'm also the only person on Mumsnet that liked the pink dress too!

Acopyofacopy · 04/08/2017 22:14

And again the message is: we want simple classics in good quality fabrics.
Leave off the 10 frilly extra bits and offer us a reasonable colour range.

I found one perfect t-shirt in M&S this summer. I would have bought multiples in all kinds is colours - but it was only available in navy, white and shades of yellow, orange, pink and red. So navy and white only for me then...

Are you listening?!?

MoonPower · 04/08/2017 22:16

Elliptical Hmm

neveradullmoment99 · 04/08/2017 22:22
