Another grim M&S dress

Since I really enjoyed the pink dress thread that The Fail stole for an article I wanted to give you a head's up on their latest horror. It doesn't actually look too bad on the model but believe me it is Seventies polyester nightie chic.

Yellow dress

Actually, it would be handy for fancy dress parties. You could wear that one, your mate could wear the pink one and you could go as a rhubarb and custard sweet.

Or a suppurating wound.

PickingOakum · 04/08/2017 16:13

It looks like a 1960s maternity dress for Barbara Cartland during one of her adventurous phases.

I can't figure out who is signing off on these designs. Who do they think is actually going to wear this stuff? Confused

blacksax · 04/08/2017 16:14

Comment from convenient lounging teenager regarding the yellow one: "Who the bloody hell designed that? Not a good look".

dodobookends · 04/08/2017 16:18

I can see Margo from The Good Life wearing the yellow monstrosity Grin

DurhamDurham · 04/08/2017 16:23

There are some hideous dresses in there right now but in M&S's defence I did bag myself al overly pair of holiday sandals last night in the sale for £5.49 Shock I paid more for the bag of fruit I went in for

Another grim M&S dress
AgathaF · 04/08/2017 16:25

Words fail me.

PickingOakum · 04/08/2017 17:00

Margo would never wear anything so terrible, dodo. Shock

If she were to wear a yellow maxi dress with trumpet sleeves, it would be in a fine silk chiffon in limoncello with a ribbon waist. Grin

34AQuid · 04/08/2017 17:02

I'd wear the pink blancmange dress every day for a week rather than even try that canary horror on. My eyes Sad.

SelmaAndJubjub · 04/08/2017 17:08

mumbod Grin

Oh, and a trigger warning next time, please OP Wink

MrsMozart · 04/08/2017 17:09

What the...!

EnidButton · 04/08/2017 17:19

Just read the reviews and some people love it! The ones who don't are saying it probably looks good on someone tall and willowy. I admire their optimism but there's someone tall and willowy right there, in the pics, and even she can't carry it off.

Nettletheelf · 04/08/2017 17:26

HAHAHAHAHA at Barbara Cartland!

It's bound to be a knock off of something from a designer show. The pink one was (Roksanda Ilincic). I expect some designers were 'feeling the seventies and Ossie Clark' and this is what we've ended up with.

I do not go to M&S for catwalk knock-offs.

Kenworthington · 04/08/2017 17:28

I quite like it. Actually no duck it, I'm not going to whisper. I'm not even sorry. So there

PinkGlitter17 · 04/08/2017 18:40

I love it when you can somehow detect the model's horror!

EnidButton · 04/08/2017 18:42

Buy it Ken and then post pics

Floisme · 04/08/2017 18:48

I think I'm with Ken Well kind of, it's not my thing - my days of floaty dresses are long gone - but I'm not seeing the hideousness. It's obviously not intended for a trip to Sainsbury's but for a summer garden party with flat sandals, massive sunglasses, a bandanna headscarf and a joint, I think it could work.

The main problem of course, is the polyester. That's yuk. It needs to be very fine cotton or, for a real 70s vibe, cheesecloth.

PickAChew · 04/08/2017 18:48

The wonky hem utterly magnifies the horror.

I noticed when I walked through last week that they'd shifted out all the old monstrosities and replaced them with even more of the same ilk.

I'm dreading the Christmas ranges. They'll probably look just like tartan polyester Christmas trees.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 04/08/2017 18:50

What on earth is an Elliptical Hem?

SealSong · 04/08/2017 18:52

YIKES! Goodness me. I can't imagine that being flattering on anyone. One of the reviews says they looked like a giant daffodil in it Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 04/08/2017 18:59

That has to be worse than the pink dress Shock
And the colour!!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/08/2017 19:00

One of the reviews says they looked like a giant daffodil in it

The ordered it??????????

childmaintenanceserviceinquiry · 04/08/2017 19:01

i used the f word too. That is beyond foul.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/08/2017 19:02

These reviews CANNOT be genuine. People like it???

DonkeyOil · 04/08/2017 19:03

The model's apparently wearing a size 8!! One good gust of wind and I'd be airborne in my size 14.Grin
