Do you think Kate gets it "right" compare to other royals?

Needless to say its a DM link

Do you think Kate looks the most stylish? I think Sophie looks lovely, great colour and lovely hat. I think Kate has an advantage as she is very slim / toned but not sure if her dress is actually the nicest. I think she also gets all her stuff made to measure / altered so it fits her better.

Bea and Zara's have got very crushed which makes them look less polished. Autumn Phillips looks nice but can only just see her!

Eugenie's is a no from me! too frou frou.

Eugeni is prettier than the others.

nina2b · 21/06/2017 10:38

Eugenie

nina2b · 21/06/2017 10:38

Zara is great, though.

merrygoround51 · 21/06/2017 11:15

Kate always looks more elegant and put together than other royals but a lot of this is down to the fact that she is so willowy. If you are tall and that thin, you are much easier to dress

PaulDacresFeministConscience · 21/06/2017 13:40

I quite like Kate's outfit. She looks very cool and unflustered. Sophie Wessex also looks nice. I agree that Zara looks as if she might be expecting again - but understandable if she's keeping it quiet.

I'm not a fan of Bea and Eugenie's outfits, which is a shame because they are both gorgeous girls. E really needs a lower neckline and a good bra (speaking as someone who also has large norks, if I wore her dress I would look like a matronly mono-boob). B's dress is too fussy and the fabric too stiff and heavy for the weather.

I think Kate dresses a bit older than her years. Entirely up to her but it's a real shame because she could carry off some really interesting designs because she is so slim and tall. However I don't envy her; if she gets it wrong then she gets a pasting in all the papers for being 'inappropriate'. I suppose it's much easier to go for 'classic' because if the worst criticism that someone can throw at you is that it's 'boring' then it's better than being panned for showing too much leg/arm/collarbone/whatever.

If I was that slim and that rich I would make the most of it, which I don't think she does.

BubblesBuddy · 21/06/2017 15:09

Zara looks like she is expecting but has looked like this for a while.

Kate wore a similar A McQ dress to Ascot last year. White was a pretty cool colour to wear yesterday and she doesn't do big hats. She likes the pill box or the dish. I was surprised she wore long sleeves though but she's in an air conditioned royal box so not suffering like the rest of us. Eugenie just needs a bit more advice on what suits her because she has a fair bust and it makes it difficult for her. We were at Ascot yesterday and I have never seen all three generations together and all the Queen's children plus their children. Big display of solidarity!

BubblesBuddy · 21/06/2017 15:11

Royal Ascot is all about classic formal daywear dressing. Dressing like a show pony just isn't what the Royal family will do at Ascot. Look at Princess Haya for brilliant style.

ButterflyFree · 21/06/2017 16:45

Once again Her Majesty slayed the style stakes at the state opening of parliament today... EU flag hat and all.

Brilliant.

Butterfly

That's brilliant!

I really love that blue colour.

itsbetterthanabox · 21/06/2017 22:29

Eugenie doesn't need a better bra she just would suit a lower neckline. So high and round isn't flattering as she's busty,
I love Beatrice's dress.

PunkOfParis · 21/06/2017 22:34

Kate's dress is a bit like Pippa's wedding dress. www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/nintchdbpict000325260865.jpg?strip=all&w=696&quality=100

Queen Letizia looks amazing. Her outfits are 😍

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2017 23:32

Those photos were hilarious. She looks really happy in general. The collar on the dress would drive me mad. Looks itchy.

This woman looks really cool.

Generally I think Kate never quite gets it right when it comes to her clothes. They always miss the mark a bit, which is unfortunate considering she has an unimaginable clothing budget to play with.

But she always looks too twee or too frumpy (quite often managing to look both at the same time somehow). When she dresses down, she pulls out those dreadful wedges and jeggings. And when she dresses up it's endless coat dresses and nude pumps and awful sausage curls in her hair (which she fiddles with constantly). She gets a lot of her clothes tailored, but she often makes them look worse by cutting too much off the bottom or adding extra buttons etc.

She never seemed very interested in clothes pre-wedding, so none of this is a surprise. She'll never be the style icon everyone keeps pretending she is. I wish she would accept where her strengths and weaknesses lie, and either employ a proper stylist if she wants to dress to impress, or invest in a solid work wardrobe of interchangeable (and repeatable!) basics and give up on the idea of being a fashion-plate.

breakabletoy · 22/06/2017 01:01

Forgot to add - Camilla is the most consistently best dressed royal I think, because she really knows what silhouette and colours work for her. She always manages to look both comfortable and put together, which is a rare quality and something I covet.

Sophie always looks nice, though not very remarkable. I never notice her clothes much tbh, but I do notice her smile which always seems genuine.

Beatrice and Eugenie make many fashion mistakes, but I admire their willingness to take risks and have a bit of fun.

FreeNiki · 22/06/2017 01:05

Kate dresses far too old and too conservatively. She's boring.

Also most people would look great in designer custom made clothes designed to flatter.

FreeNiki · 22/06/2017 01:08

That's a plain white lace dress with a high neck. Neither stunning ot remarkable. It looks out of place as if it should be at a wedding.

I prefer Bea and her sister. They're more fun.

SweetLuck · 22/06/2017 01:41

I think this is the first thread ever that I have responded to without even reading the OP.

From the tile alone the answer is yes, Kate does in deed get it right. I simply never see her in anything that I think is unflattering. The only possible time is when she went Queen Mum for Pippas wedding, which I assume was a tasteful attempt not to draw attention away from the bride. No bum dress for Kate.

toffeeboffin · 22/06/2017 01:56

Eugenie got it wrong again. So wrong. I don't know how she does it! She must have a stylist? Or a mirror? As someone said, get a proper bra.

Beatrice looked nice. Floaty.

Love Sophie's dress, superb. She was best dressed for sure.

And Kate, ah Kate. She's always in cream! Boring really. Yes, she is tall and slim but I do think she'd look better with a few pounds on. She looks a bit frail tbh.

Camilla looked good too, nice dress.

toffeeboffin · 22/06/2017 01:58

Actually, hatbox is right, Eugenie could do with a lower neck line and to cover her arms too. Scoop neck, and a colour that flatters her.

FreeNiki · 22/06/2017 02:25

I liked Beatrice's outfit for Trooping the Colour. I wanted it myself until I saw her wear it. Not sure now.

fourballs · 22/06/2017 05:27

I've met Eugenie. She is SO beautiful in 'real life'. It's such a bloody shame that she makes some awful outfit choices.

ClaudiaNaughton · 22/06/2017 06:59

Thought Carole Middleton's pale blue Goat dress looked stunning. Exactly right.

FreeNiki · 22/06/2017 09:43

Princesses B&E are beautiful women.

Eugenie's outfit looked too old for her I dont know why it happens when they can afford what they like really.
