Welcome back Hatty! I can just see you rocking a leather jacket. I have one which I've had for years and is v useful in a surprisingly goes with anything sort of way.

Am grumpy that it's so hot again. Bah humbug.

Cremolafoam · 18/07/2017 07:55

It is scary hot here today. I am a shade lover myself.

Had a gorgeous day out yesterday with friend. We had a long coastal walk in the sun , both in our crepey sun hats and sensible sandals. Delighted to see local pensioners having a dip in the sea.

Came home to a parking ticket from a private company , which put a complete downer on the day. They argue that I didn't put my reg number into the machine correctly and so they say I didn't follow their rules, even though I paid. Fuckers.Sad

hattymattie · 18/07/2017 08:02

Aww Crem - agree fuckers - apparently thunderstorms on the way from the UK. I'm going to get food shopping in before it gets too hot.

I need to find a decent hat - borrowed one from MiL for walking in mountains and she said I looked like her in the photos Shock. I will never again borrow anything from her in desperation. I'd quite like a French foreign legion type thing with a flap at the back to keep sun off the neck.

Rosenspants · 18/07/2017 08:15

Crem I would appeal it....showing evidence that you paid and see what happens. I wouldn't pay that one straightaway....no Sir.

Hatty do we get a link to the jacket? I bet you'll look great in it. Yes, let me know the whereabouts so the Finchley flat. It's unlikely to be more that 10.15 minutes from here.

I didn't find the heat too bad yesterday but that's largely because the house hasn't yet had time to heat up into the usual sauna. It's only a matter of time, unfortunately.

S&B news...I have managed to miss Landsend flash sale that ended last night as I really do need some swimwear and always put off buying it as it's a worse experience that buying jeans. Having said that I am not sure any off the cossies I was looking at are actually in the sale... Hmm

But I was browsing these...

goof for big hips?

similar shape

frumpsville?

Rosenspants · 18/07/2017 08:16

goof indeed...gooD I meant

motherinferior · 18/07/2017 08:33

I like the second one best!

herbaceous · 18/07/2017 08:38

£100 though! Admittedly, cheap swimsuits have proved to be something int of a false economy. Apart from my short-legged Slazenger number from sports direct for £8.

Cremolafoam · 18/07/2017 11:57

I am a bit Shock at £100 cossie, but I know it probably has superior suck and tuck. Have Boden got anything?
I got a great tankini with mix and match bottoms last year for £15 and its been great even after chlorine-y pools and Caribbean waves 🌊
< sigh>
Best summer day here so far. I am inside dark theatre working. Sticky...

Rosenspants · 18/07/2017 12:33

Ach, Crem...

I also think Landsend cossie prices have soared recently. I have to wait for another voucher code...they come often enough. There is another thread talking about costumes at the moment and someone on there recommends M and Co...so will take a look.

I am pleased to announce a 1 and a half pound loss this week...hooray....total lost 10 and a half lbs. Grindingly slow but its just about happening. I shall allow myself a decent supper out...DH is meeting meeting the shopping mall this evening, to replace the beautiful watch from Swarovski that he bought me for our anniversary which has been returned twice and also replaced once, as it loses time. We finally, after much sabre rattling got a refund so I am trying Goldsmiths, H Samuel, JL and Fenwick. Any ideas for about 200 squids? I want analogue, numbers if poss and hands visible without having to put on glasses, bracelet rather than strap and silver/chrome, not yellow metal. Love a sublet bit of diamante. this was the one I had to return

hattymattie · 18/07/2017 13:03

Rose - love the second swimsuit with the crossover turquoise bit. Am a bit gobsmacked at the price though. I think if I did a lot of swimming I'd go for it. I have a Boden one from many years ago which makes me look as if I've got a figure. Shame about the watch - it looks lovely.

Finding heat OK in the day but seem to be hot flushing at about 3 am so way too hot in bed and cannot sleep.

Cremolafoam · 18/07/2017 18:40

Fossil ? Rosen, if I'm not to late to advise? Well done on the weight loss . I am fatter than ever and eating low fat, low carb and eating next nothing at all. Sick of the whole bloody thing. Thyroid bastard.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/07/2017 20:12

I have a very functional Swiss railways watch, which I love, and which was a present from DH. He is usually utterly shit at presents, but excels himself periodically, like with this watch, my Alexander McQueen razor blade print scarf, my Hermes scarf. He has been promising me a Jaeger le Coultre reverso for the past 20 years but this has come to noting...

msmargarita · 18/07/2017 22:32

Can I just say that here in Spain we are promised 21• and rain all day tomorrow ... looks like lunch and art then. And faced with a beautiful beach this afternoon I found the water just too cold. Not a soul was already in there.... not even small children. Good reason to have chocolate and churro tomorrow - was too hot in Girona last year. Have a navvies tan from wind blast on fave and neck.

Dalesgirl16 · 18/07/2017 23:59

Can someone explain what this crepey business means?

FlipflopsOrWellieboots · 19/07/2017 02:10

Lots of ladies of a certain age, some with crepey decollage or other creepy bits, discussing clothes, shoes, perfume, life in general, children or grandchildren etc etc Smile

And travel? I've reached my second stop in my hols and we are all so tired, we're all sitting watching The Holiday.... how weird is that, palm trees outside and the ultimate Christmas movie inside. And I'm wearing a damp bikini!!!

MrsWobble3 · 19/07/2017 06:58

First day back at work post holiday - I decide to go in early to deal with the mountain of crap that will have accumulated. At the station and my train is cancelled. Why can't I stay on holiday?

motherinferior · 19/07/2017 08:56

I am sitting at my kitchen table thinking oh god I must start work...

Auriga · 19/07/2017 10:45

Rose, late comment I know, but I love the first two swimsuits. I've always gone for plain black but am seriously tempted and you would look great in either of them.

Sadly, I seem to have clapped on 3kg. A mixture of reasons, mainly not bothering to plan meals and eating sandwiches on the go. Will be hard to shift, especially as I'm back on pregabalin for pain. Side effects are horrible but needs must.

Practising for cathedral weekend today, then demonstrating against privatisation of local library service.

We may have found a cat. Owner bringing her to us for a tryout with DDog tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

motherinferior · 19/07/2017 11:12

In not so S&B is there any way to de-whiffify my not so fragrant teenager? She likes baths. She has showers. And her room honks.

She says her friends are all v fond of incense...Grin

bigTillyMint · 19/07/2017 11:14

Does she wash in the bath/shower or just sit in the water?
Does she know she/the room smells?

hattymattie · 19/07/2017 11:15

Open the windows every morning - it's the only solution. Plus retrieve any old socks lying around and no trainers in the bedroom!

hattymattie · 19/07/2017 11:16

I was assuming she washes when I posted that.

motherinferior · 19/07/2017 11:37

She does consume bathing products avidly. It may be linked to a thrift store addiction...

I haven't said anything.

bigTillyMint · 19/07/2017 11:52

Can you tell her her room/clothes smell and offer support to recify the situation, ie getting the clothes washed/room cleaned/windows open? Better it comes from you than friends? Grin

motherinferior · 19/07/2017 12:04

I think they're all a bit whiffy but I shall certainly give it a go.
