Difficult one MI, and one we have had here too. I just wanted to throw entire pile of whiffyness on to bonfire. I did Secret laundry for a while. Waiting till she was out and then washing clothes, shampooing carpet and dettoxing everything in sight and then forensically replacing everything back in bedroom. She never noticed. Yes to no trainers in the house, never mind bedroom.
She eventually grew to liking Lush so much that the problem self-resolved.

I have learnt a new expression this morning. I was asked to ' cascade' some information to my team. Wtaf. So this a thing?

Auriga, do tell me more about pregabalin and weight gain. Is that why I am failing to shift it? Wel that and having a hypothyroid situation ? Very good news about getting a cat. I can recommend highly. Our bundle of joy has taken to big purring when close to Dh.this after almost two months of no purr at all.

Am having a tooth out today to add to my hag woes. Would really like to just crawl under some leaves and decompose quietly.

MsMartini · 19/07/2017 12:19

Oh dear Crem. Yep, cascading is a thing. When do you finish?

I like the turquoise one Rose but haven't found expensive/pricey ones last any better (though have never gone that pricey). I am delightedw ith my Zoggs via figleaves one which I can get on and off without hopping or swearing! Result!

Lovely to see you at the graduations, MrsW, and meet your family. Hope you got back OK - we all retired to pub garden and cooled off!

motherinferior · 19/07/2017 13:01

I pointed out her current T-shirt is a bit smelly. Also I suspect her habit of slinging her own washing in on a 20-minute wash isn't the most cleansing option.

In more S&B news I have successfully shortened a pair of Noa Noa heavy linen trousers into shorts with the help of wundaweb. So that's £4 well spent in the Sue Ryder shop. Smile

Auriga · 19/07/2017 14:25

Tis a recognised side effect, Crem (though the list is endless and most of them are rare).

It makes me feel unpleasantly giddy and off-balance too; couldn't risk Salsa class as I would definitely fall over. I think this means I move a lot less overall when I'm taking it.

Thyroid deficiency shouldn't affect weight if you're optimally treated?

Missing DD dreadfully. Must get busy/distracted.

Rosenspants · 19/07/2017 16:01

I find that Febreze lavender fabric spray is my friend....it's quite good for bedding which I think contributes the most to smelly teen hovels, even when changed regularly. . DDs smellyness is made worse by her copious use of cheap scent from Victoria's Secret which pongs to High heaven. I also quietly suggest that DS2 showers before bed, in the summer as well as when he gets up.

Crem have you been to the dentist? Better out than in I guess. Cascade....lol. Management speak. Makes me laugh along with the overuse of "platform" and "grab the low hanging fruit" Grin

I have done precisely nothing about the swimsuit...yet. And had a watch debacle last night at the mall when it became clear that all I could afford on the current budget is a mass produced pile of crap which bears little resemblance to the Swiss time piece that I hanker after.

Rosenspants · 19/07/2017 16:09

I think fossil is American....crem

bigTillyMint · 19/07/2017 16:32

Cascading has definitely been a thing in education for at least 10 years.

Is there something wrong with American watches? I have bought DH more than one Fossil watch over timeBlush

motherinferior · 19/07/2017 16:47

YES. It's bedding. She does wash it but probably not enough - especially given the amount of time she spends there!

hattymattie · 19/07/2017 17:17

Not sure MI - as you know, I have posted about the disgusting state of DD1's bedding at uni - yet her room smelt OK.

Crem Grin at forensically replacing stuff in DD's room. I'm sorry your health is not what it should be.

Auriga - thyroid problem sounds horrible, hope it all comes into line soon.

I am appalled at the amount of money paid to Chris Evans - why? He is a total non entity - the hard news reporters who go into war zones seem to be worth a lot less.

Rosenspants · 19/07/2017 17:22

Febreze it...MI

Nothing wrong with Fossil...I've just had so many watches lose time and go wrong, (including having to return my beautiful, blingy, not cheap Swarovski watch, TWICE) that I have become hardened and want a Swiss watch...but I'm punching above my weight price wise at the moment.Blush Tissot is a possibility and I have seen a nice one in Links of London, but I'm still a bit Hmm

Cremolafoam · 19/07/2017 17:27

Even though I do not normally use an environmentally catastrophic washing powder, I find I did have to resort to biological powder on a 60o wash to overcome the pong issue. Seems to neutralise nasty niffs.
Also Pinterest tip is to put bio powder sprinkled over mattress and then hoovered up after thirty mins. No idea if that works. I'd have though bicarb might do the same thing.

Didn't know Fossil was made by yankees Rosebud. But hey sorry you can't find anything nice. There seems to be a gap in the market between £150 blingy throwaway crap and £400 smart watches that make you breakfast and turn up your heating.Hmm *take note jewellers of the world. Anything else take your fancy ? Ring, necklace, small diamond?
Auriga, I have been put on 50mg of Levothyroxine by gp. No discussions. Blood test in 3 months. She says it is enough. I feel knackered all the time.Hmm

My weight has not stop climbing since before diagnosis in April. I suspect meno plus the hypothyroid plus pregabalin plus gammy leg, plus tramadol has helped make me both an airhead and overweight. I promise myself that things will change when I get the doggy.
In the meantime I will try not to jump off a cliff while micromanaging my insane parents ( dad driving secretly) and unhelpful Dh ( refuses to talk seriously about anything and brat dd. ( no comment )
Angry

hattymattie · 19/07/2017 17:28

"nonentity" - one word!

hattymattie · 19/07/2017 17:32

Oh- did you stop work yet? I get the impression you are still in you job - cascading away. It all sounds very tough and the family don't seem to be rallying round.

hattymattie · 19/07/2017 17:33

Oh Crem - that should read - OK obvs cannot cook and type.

florascotianew · 19/07/2017 17:57

Rosen I don't know whether you'd ever consider a secondhand posh watch; it's generally reckoned that secondhand jewellery is very good value for the money spent (my engagement ring is secondhand). I presume - though of course I can't prove - that secondhand watches are much the same. I have not purchased from this company, but have heard good reports of it :www.wimbledonwatches.co.uk/

Oh Crem - I hope you feel better soon.

MsMartini · 19/07/2017 18:02

Crem, that is too much. I really hope health improves on new meds. dd goes back to uni I take it (4-year course?), at some point which probably feels like a long way off now?

Rosenspants · 19/07/2017 18:21

Crem I wondered of you meant £4,000 rather than 400. I kid you not, and yes, there is such a gap in the market for decent non mass-produced watches in the low-middle hundreds price range, but it seems to jump to four figures and in many cases 5 figures. Flora that is interesting.... I had a browse but even some of the second hand watches are eye wateringly expensive. I also have the slight hurdle of DH and his views on an acceptable spend for his wife....in respect of jewellery, which are in the dark ages. he isn't like that with things he enjoys also, like holidays I was cringing last night when he was quite happy to wander into a Tag Hauer shop and ask if they have anything under £200....

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/07/2017 18:21

Stinky teens - wash bedding on 60 degree wash with bio big box powder. Clothes ditto but 40 degree wash. No quick wash. If exceptional stinky, I add a capful of Zoflora to the fabric conditioner drawer.

motherinferior · 19/07/2017 19:04

DP told me solemnly the first time he gave me a pair of earrings that his dad - a self-proclaimed Bengali village boy at heart - had always told him only to buy jewellery for the woman you marry. I suspect this was so you didn't lose your investment.Wink

They are very nice earrings - I'm wearing them today as they go with my multi-pierced ears.

Lovely to see you, flora!

herbaceous · 19/07/2017 19:26

I am a total prole, but find cheap watches keep great time. Some of my fake Rolexes and Tags from late 80s Singapore are still going strong!

OP posts:
hattymattie · 19/07/2017 20:03

I don't use a watch anymore - just my phone.

florascotianew · 19/07/2017 20:19

Thank you, MI. Very kind. All good wishes. F.

MsMartini · 19/07/2017 20:25

Big wave for Flora Grin.

I use my phone and my fatbot.

MrsWobble3 · 19/07/2017 21:50

This will be no help Rose but I feel your pain - a few years ago I needed/wanted (depends on POV) a new watch and found the most beautiful watch in Chanel but dh, who to be fair is extremely generous (with our joint finances), baulked at the price. I have just googled to try and find it and it looks like it was probably around the £5k mark. But given that there are watches on that website for £85k - and others marked price on application - I think I was probably being a bit of a cheap date!

NoCureForLove · 19/07/2017 22:02

I just couldn't bring myself to spend that sort of money on a watch - and wouldn't feel comfortable wearing something worth thousands on my wrist. If I needed a watch I'd buy this relative bargain
