Thought I'd start a thread for anyone who finds capsule wardrobes in muted tones tedious as feck.

Ditto little diamond studs and designer bags with glossy bobs.

I personally admire the style of Alys Fowler and Helena Bonham-Carter.

Also love a bit of Gudrun/Lagenlook and other cheerful offerings.

A successful charity shop rummage is a joy to behold. I like messy hair, well -loved clothes and making my own stuff too.

Anyone else?

I love the cat shoes, I tend to wear birds and butterfly's the most, I have got a dress with foxes on too. I've just bought a new bird dress which is navy with pinky purple birds on and flute sleeves. I'm in love with it! 😍

breathedeep where is that jacket from? Can't post pics of gorgeous stuff m not tell us where it's from!

JaceLancs · 13/04/2017 18:25

I think I'm somewhere in between too
I buy classic jeans, cashmere, black trousers etc but liven it up with bright tops and dresses
I have given up on scarves at moment though but can't bear to get rid of them as may come round again
My jewellery is mainly antique and I do wear a lot of it, but also like plain bangles, diamond studs and even pearls when the occasion arises (the pearls are more flapper length and multicoloured )

I don't know! I found it on Pinterest but it's from a site where someone else was looking for it. It's old too. Sadly it will never be mine. Sorry for sharing the pain 😞

It's not what you'd call a capsule wardrobe - however DD and I have had a clear out today
Between us we took 5 bin bags to charity shop, there's also 30-40 items to eBay
We've both been dieting DD now can get into her size 8 prom dress - I've still got a lot to lose but have managed to rediscover a few old favourites that now fit

fruitlovingmonkey · 13/04/2017 18:33

I love bright colours and clashing prints. Markus Lupfer do some great prints (I only buy in the sale Blush). I also love the Vivienne Westwood/ Lanvin style of over structured tailoring but I don't find many opportunities to wear it in my current lifestyle.
Big fan of charity shop bargains too.

Floisme · 13/04/2017 19:09

countrygirl I love your coat! I have three fitted tweed blazers, paid full price for one of them but the other two were picked up in vintage weigh & pay sales for a tenner each - might be worth a shot?

Two of them are also Harris Tweed for which I have particular love. The colours are beautiful - quite muted but they change with the light. I believe Vivienne Westwood is also a fan which is good enough for me Smile

Loving this thread! Have a few Lagenlook tops. Love tweed.

More links to websites please!

Fab - thank you!

Just catching up on all the links but a special swoon for Spudlet's Edwardian art teacher tweed skirt / dress on page 2.

It reminds me of this one made out of reclaimed suiting - my favourite skirt, certainly of the moment and possibly ever. I love the tension between the shape and the conservative fabric. (Sorry if that sounds wanky.) The tapestry bubble skirts are also stunning - I no longer have the legs for one but I bet some of you do. They also make things to order and if I lived anywhere near London, I'd be languishing in the debtors' jail by now.

I've just noticed the shopping cart doesn't seem to be working which worries me. I hope they're still going.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 14/04/2017 09:53

Jacob I love that green coat. How do EMP sizings come up? I'm a 14 so not sure if that would me an M or a L?

namechangingagainagain · 14/04/2017 10:08

thanks for this thread.

i didnt realise it but im actually a mori girl.... i wish i'd come across this earlier rather than spending years trying to look "polished" ... which always looked crap on me anyway. For years I've always veered towards art teacher/colourful gardener but have fought against is as thought thats what I should do to "be a grown up" in a proper job. I even got a gellish manicure ffs ( and I hate painted nails) and some "well cut basics in neutral tones (DULL).

But this year I think stuff it I'll do what I want and what actually suits me.. Ive already bought some sundresses from uniqlo which I intend to live in the summer( cotton polka dot and floral prints) and now think fuck it- I actually like battered leather handbags and comfy sensible shoes and letting my hair do its own mad crazy curly blonde thing!
I'm now off to spend a few enjoyable hours having a google about mori stuff for inspiration:)

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 14/04/2017 10:27

Imnot i would say that the sizes run true. Im an 8 and the small fits perfectly with enough room for a jumper.

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 14/04/2017 11:17

Oh and EMP are having a black friday sale. Wink

user1471545174 · 14/04/2017 12:15

Shuddering at this thread Grin

My personality is quirky enough already without expressive clothing.

Floisme · 14/04/2017 12:48

Most of EMP isn't really my style but I bloody love this necklace
I would wear it with something impeccably swishy and expensive Smile

NevermetaGilesIlike · 14/04/2017 12:49

Erm.... good for you?

What's your point, Giles? I like to look anonymous and stylish. I am naturally weird and don't want to advertise it. Surely a thread embracing quirkiness can embrace that? I'm not saying it's a good thing, it's just me Grin

BroomstickOfLove · 14/04/2017 13:29

I think that it's just possible that announcing that other people's posts cause you to shudder makes it a bit less likely that the rest of the posters will greet your own posts with an embrace.
