Thought I'd start a thread for anyone who finds capsule wardrobes in muted tones tedious as feck.

Ditto little diamond studs and designer bags with glossy bobs.

I personally admire the style of Alys Fowler and Helena Bonham-Carter.

Also love a bit of Gudrun/Lagenlook and other cheerful offerings.

A successful charity shop rummage is a joy to behold. I like messy hair, well -loved clothes and making my own stuff too.

Anyone else?

Oooh I love a bit of colour and a pattern. I love the coats on EMP...I bought a black coat this winter and though I love the style (asymetric zip, slight flair). It took me ages to get used to me being in black. I've just bougth a yellow summer coat Grin

I love Joe Browns, though it seemed to be sneered at on here...I could buy the whole book

Yellowrose87 · 12/04/2017 20:20

Love this thread! Used to be a bit gothy when I was younger but now I'm not sure what I am. This is much more me than the other thread though, watching with interest!

Tanaqui · 12/04/2017 20:43

I would like gorgeous flicky shiny expensive looking hair!

Other than that I either like a slightly outdoorsy look- not the Mori girl, more somewhere between competent camper and cutesy cath kidstonesque; or a more 70s vibe.

kneesupfatty · 12/04/2017 21:26

Me too! I can appreciate a classic, muted outfit on someone else, but it is just so not me. I love bright colours (especially tights), Doc Marten boots, quirky patterns and messy hair. I've absolutely loved Alys Fowler for years - I think of her as a kindred spirit!

CoolCarrie · 12/04/2017 21:53

That is a wonderful coat!

KnitFastDieWarm · 12/04/2017 21:58

My style is a kind of 1940s butch punk mishmash with odd very flowery feminine dresses thrown in Grin I like messy quiffs, doc martens, brogues, flowery blouses and tight jeans. And sparkles, lots of sparkles. And I make a lot of my clothes.

I always read the 'expensive' threads in a 'that's nice dear' kind of way - great for those who like that look but it just ain't me!

MarklahMarklah · 12/04/2017 22:03

This week I wore silver glittery trainers, skinny jeans and a rainbow print t-shirt. I also had socks with unicorns on. Oh, and my hair is green at the moment. Life's too short to conform.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/04/2017 22:09

my current favourite tee has got a rainbow kittencorn on it saying 'i hate you' dp bought it me because he knew i'd love it Grin

i have an obscene amount of t-shirts, drawers full in fact, everything from unicorns to comic book prints. wear them with everything

ByeByeBadman · 12/04/2017 22:12

Can I join? I cannot wear neutral muted classics. Its just not me and it just seems so miserable and meh.

I love leopard, metallics, trainers, fushia, yellow, faux fur , prints and denim jackets.

BellMcEnd · 12/04/2017 22:14

Never did you make that amazing necklace? Please send it to me immediately.

Anyone watch Grace & Frankie on Netflix? I want to be Frankie. Her outfits and jewellery are fabulous

Asmoto · 12/04/2017 22:25

This is definitely my sort of 'style' thread. I'm a Joe Browns/Nomads/Charity Shop/eBay person. Also love Aventures des Toiles if I can find it cheaply enough. I recently bought this boho jacket - can't wait for summer to wear it!

Destinysdaughter · 12/04/2017 22:38

Love the beautiful autumn colours in that jacket!

Haggisfish · 12/04/2017 22:42

I don't do beige either. Just doesn't suit me. I'm a teacher and one day my class gasped....'but, miss, your clothes match!!'Grin

Asmoto · 12/04/2017 22:48

I'd love the figure to wear the jacket BreatheDeep posted, but I'm large of nork so the high neck would look terrible on me.

There are some beautiful things on this thread!

OldRaver I'm an EMP fan, too. I had a great gothic coat from them a couple of years ago, but I'm too fat to get into it at the moment Sad.

Destinysdaughter · 12/04/2017 22:55

There are some lovely things in Joe Brown, some v pretty and unusual tops here. I hate buying things online tho, wish they had a shop, need to try stuff on!

Love this thread! I watched the new Ghostbusters a couple of nights ago and all I've been doing since is googling 'Holtzmann's clothes, holtzmann's glasses, holtzmann's style'. I'm bloody obsessed!

Asmoto · 12/04/2017 23:13

Destinysdaughter If you are a size 12 or over, Simply Be shops stock Joe Browns clothing.

CountessYgritte · 12/04/2017 23:55

Do you know where I can get quirky blouses or shirts? I like the ones with unusual prints. - animals or fruits etc. Or just a beautiful print.

I am tall though and size 16 so they need to be well proportioned.

Thx

BroomstickOfLove · 13/04/2017 00:45

KnitFast I think I have a crush on your wardrobe.

Veronicat · 13/04/2017 06:49

Thanks to this thread I've just ordered the red brocade and the tartan coats from EMP. Grin

Floisme · 13/04/2017 07:12

I'm pretty bland compared to a lot of you but, however mainstream my clothes are, I always like to mix it up with a bit of steam punk, original punk or goth jewellery.

These days I'm more of a watcher and I've noticed how little alternative or street fashion there is now. I'm not young so I realise it could be going on somewhere else but it's a long time since I've passed anyone in the street who's made my head turn. I really miss that.

Destinysdaughter · 13/04/2017 07:30

Floisme me too! I was a teen in the early eighties when the New Romantic look was in and there were some brilliant street styles then! Pp were pretty inventive. You used to be able to get a lot of great 1950s stuff in jumble sales, it was actually pretty exciting going to them!
