Thought I'd start a thread for anyone who finds capsule wardrobes in muted tones tedious as feck.

Ditto little diamond studs and designer bags with glossy bobs.

I personally admire the style of Alys Fowler and Helena Bonham-Carter.

Also love a bit of Gudrun/Lagenlook and other cheerful offerings.

A successful charity shop rummage is a joy to behold. I like messy hair, well -loved clothes and making my own stuff too.

Anyone else?

They are lovely cate. I plan on turning mine into a collection. I have manged to get dh to buy me a pair for birthday and Christmas every year.

CateGory8 · 19/04/2017 21:03

Whirl How many pairs for you have now? My DH never knows if the boots I'm wearing are my newest pair or a pair I've had for a while. This makes it easier to seek more pairs in under his fugal gaze.

Whirltime · 19/04/2017 21:14

I only have 3 so far. Some pink welly type ones, some burgundy flower ones and the TMNT ones I just got. I am lucky as my dh has been struggling for years to find me something he can buy me for special occasions for years and now he's happy. He never minds if I buy myself new things as I rarely do it.

CateGory8 · 19/04/2017 21:18

I like the idea of the wellie type DM's. Perhaps they'll be my next pair.

Whirltime · 19/04/2017 21:31

They are brilliant. They are the drench collection. It was the first pair I got.

Sadik · 19/04/2017 22:03

Loving the 'steampunk assassin' vibe Jacob - I"m also short/skinny/flatchested, so definitely have to go with that a bit on the steampunk victoriana front.
Just went to the pub tonight in these trousers together with fuzzy stripey purple/black hoodie :) (I have modified them a bit to remove some of the metal / straps and given them pulled in combat style hem to tuck in my boots)

I'd love to wear things like this starfish tunic dress but somehow they never quite work for me. They look amazing on other people though - there's a whole selection of them here.

My combination of small feet and massive canckles /calves means DMs rub like a bastard and don't lace up properly. I've seen people much bigger than me look amazing in them I just have weird shaped legs.

That starfish tunic is lovely, wish I had more money!

Floisme · 20/04/2017 07:15

Can we have a Stevie Nicks moment?

No-one wears a hat like she does.

We're just a thought away from Helena Bonham-Carter. Sorry these aren't the best pics - but I like her stuff it to expensive good taste attitude.

Ohhh I love this thread it is most...covetous...I daredn't look! (not this side of payday anyway). I have curves but I do have a decent waist so the floaty stuff just makes me look massive. I am watching for inspiration as I have adopted a uniform (aghhh) and I am due an overhaul. For info: I live near the DM factory shop. I haven't even counted how many I have Grin.

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 20/04/2017 11:06

Covetous. Great word Grin
Broomsticks could you update with a pic when the DMs arrive?

Ill post some pics of Eva Green. But she is so stunning she could wear a binbag.

I'm a mixture of styles when it comes to fashion - I'm wearing a butterfly print today but could just as easily have worn a breton or a plain black tee shirt. But, I LOVE my Dr Martens. I have 3 pairs but mainly wear my black Pascal Virginia because they're nice and soft so were not hard to break in. I have a pair of stiffer burgundy 1460s from the Sole Trader outlet which I just can't get on with though - might sell them on.

I spend all my time in my DMs and black leather jacket - not entirely sure what I'm going to do when it gets warmer. :(

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/04/2017 11:46

Nice trews, Sadik.

I'm still coveting a burgundy leather biker. I keep stroking one in Whistles, but can't possibly afford it.

drspouse · 20/04/2017 11:47

Have just discovered this and following along.
I'm quite busty and can't really carry off flowing (just makes me look like I'm wearing the Guide dining tent), but go for a good pattern and fun shoes.

I'm a big fan of Desigual (Rebecca Front's daughter told her she's NOT allowed to wear Desigual because she always wears it), and Bravissimo fits me and though it can be boring I have also got a few pieces that fit me well. I'm wearing a red white and blue semi-Breton striped thin jumper from them today, and I've just got a Ponte de Roma biker jacket from them which I lurve.

And Camper shoes, also Think! and Josef Siebel. I find DMs really uncomfortable.

But some of my wardrobe is getting ridiculous so I'm hoping to get a stylist makeover... but I'm worried it will end up capsule/boring.

doctorboo · 20/04/2017 11:58

Brilliant thread! So much style eye candy.

My MIL once said she admired that I 'dressed for myself' - which I took to mean quirky and obvs didn't give a shit about fashion Blush

I've got a do to go to on Saturday and I'm wearing the tunic/dress with chunky rose gold flat sandals.

Today I'm in ripped cropped jeans a long striped vest top with a colourful top over the top of that. Shiny trainers on me feet and a leopard print bag. Mish mash.

Oh I also love Scandi stuff for my kids and have a few bits for myself (including some jersey tops I make for myself).
This sort of thing. (In an adult size the apples look smaller - I have this one).

Sorry for the rushed 'waiting for nursery to finish' selfie Blush

doctorboo · 20/04/2017 12:19

drspouse I love that top!!!!

My boys often get put in something colourful.

Remus I love the muubaa ones. Theres a beautiful bronze one Im lusting over. And a green one cos I fancy moonlighting as the arrow.

Awww tiny cutie doctor . I have one DS that likes brights and clashing everything and another that is a little more understated.

drspouse · 20/04/2017 13:12

doctor Mine choose clashing clothes whenever possible. It's rubbing off.
That's a Duns top and you can get them from loveitloveitloveit or direct from Duns webshop (Swedish but I think I found shipping quite reasonable - however prices for adult clothes are not so teeny!)

boldlygoingsomewhere · 20/04/2017 13:23

I have a lovely raspberry pink mubaa biker. Unfortunately, it's a small size 10 so doesn't fit me properly. I'll have to eBay it but I love the colour so much I keep trying to convince myself I can lose weight!

Whirltime · 20/04/2017 13:34

#PNGirl it took me 4 months to break my flower pair of dms. Have you tried damp news paper with a little white vinegar stuffed into your boots as much news paper as you can and only slightly damp. It losses them up a little to help break them in.

PNGirl · 20/04/2017 13:47

I have Whirl - they're a bit too big anyway (ordered a 6.5 which seems more like a 7) so all the sliding about in them is causing the issue! I don't know if I like them enough to persevere:

I probably should have just got some more Pascal Virginias but in cherry this time.

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 20/04/2017 13:49

PNG I had similar trouble with my black ones. I went into the DMs shop and the friendly, hipster chap recommended using dubbin wax inside and out. I used a generic brand instead of the actual DMs wax and it did the trick fine.
