I keep reading this on here. Am currently debating cutting off my tedious bob as am so bored of it. But have also hit my late thirties and am feeling old and shit about myself already and don't want an 'ageing' haircut!

😂 rufus, I only ever post the good photos too.
Ah thanks for the compliments, I truly wasn't fishing!
Liinoo you completely sum up why I don't want a bob. Now I just need to figure out how to pay for another haircut to rectify this. Or maybe I'll just have to live with it for a few mths. I can't decide whether to bleach it or not. It might make the cut more obvious which would be bad. It's so high at the back. Even now when I've been trying to grease it down by frantically rubbing it all night.

Have you looked on pinterest for ideas?

Your hair looks fab two but I would be pissed off in your shoes as you went in for a restyle, and that's not really what you got.
I hope you get it sorted in Jan x

Sitting reading this... so longer hair is ageing and dark hair is ageing! Feeling very decrepit right now! Do I really look old and past it? Should I get my hair cut? Confidence dwindling by the post. Help me Blush

Mixed you look fab
honestly, long, short, whatever, do what you like.
It's all just someone else's opinion

I often wonder what some MNers look like in real life and you look fab.

Aw thanks Lorelei! Been having proper panics recently about looking old and stuff, I'm almost 47 and can't decide what I want to look like in my advancing years! Luckily I'm not very grey yet.

I love seeing pics of MNers too Smile

MixedUpConfusion you're 46???????
Fucking hell. I thought 30s.

I had long, long hair until I decided to get it all cut off aged 25. Tiny pixie cut. I do have one of those elfin faces, so although it suited my face perfectly I always felt boyish. I didn't wear makeup, lived in jeans etc. Now I'm 41 its the longest its been since, at somewhere past my jaw. I have a side fringe, I don't know if its a bob, its ginger but I use this pink shampoo to give it a rosy glow. I will try to dig out photos.
And my hair is beyond fine. With a pixie it stood up really well. And if I went out for a night I would pop some beer on it to keep it sticking up!
I think pixies can and do look great. I may well go back to it next year, now I have discovered makeup :)

My FB memory app thingy has reminded me that it was this very day 4 years ago that I was asking for advice about getting my hair cut really, really short Smile

Haha namechange, mines a cyclical obsession. I last had it cut off about 10 years ago with an awful mum cut. My hair is worse this morning, it's right in my face and I just want to cut it off. Such bad timing for wanting an urgent hairdressers appt. I've clipped back what I can but now look like a 9 year old who hacked her hair off 😂

I definitely will, I need to get collecting them. Thinkng more jean seberg than tilda now as as others have said there's more chance of ending up with a mum cut I think

You can always grow out the fringe and get the sides cut once you have a good short hair cut.

Once your haircut is how you like it, dont forget to take some good selfies - then you can take it into hairdressers in the future.

What is it with hairdressers and Not wanting to cut hair!?

I had to keep reassuring mine the last time that really meant it I wanted an inch off not an effing millimetre?

You could start with a slightly longer short cut - like Cocolepew's longer version, or Namechangeemergency, or OhMrsQ. All of those have got a side parting so should work fine with a cowlick/side parting.

Then if you don't like it you've still got the option to go even shorter and do the full Jean Seberg style.

Depends how brave you are feeling Grin

I'd say the Anne Hathaway/Michelle Williams type of cuts are the way to go, much more forgiving on days when you can't arsed with make up or getting out of sloppy clothes.

OhMrsQ is a good example of short hair that is a flattering style whilst being a bit edgy and avoiding the dreaded Battersby. Top marks!

I've told her it's to fix a bad cut so I'm really hoping she'll listen to me. She used to work at a salon I used years ago who were very on trend so I'm hoping it's rubbed off on her. In taking these in

Think they'll help? I'm wanting Togo fairly extreme fringe wise as otherwise it'll wave about in my face and I'll pin it back which looks awful on me. Tho maybe I should just take it really short fringe ones hmm

The middle ones fringe is short. Personally I prefer the back to be shaved though I like a longer back on other people.
