Is getting your haircut after 30 really that ageing?

I keep reading this on here. Am currently debating cutting off my tedious bob as am so bored of it. But have also hit my late thirties and am feeling old and shit about myself already and don't want an 'ageing' haircut!

I'm loving the ArseyTussel photo and also the Ruby Rose one. How do you get the texture?

Cocolepew · 20/12/2016 12:10

I use a wax stick to give my hair texture , I personally hate it if my hair is fluffy. There are so many different products now I think it's best to test a few out and see what suits your hair.

Cocolepew · 20/12/2016 12:11

Oh and I spend no more than a minute on it, just run the wax over it.

ArseyTussle · 20/12/2016 12:32

The texture comes from the cut, and the wax (or whatever you use) gives the separation.

PossumInAPearTree · 20/12/2016 12:34

I'm very, very tempted.

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 20/12/2016 12:39

I'm hoping I'll feel better about it once I've washed it's and it's less pouffy. I'm just so disappointed. And I wonder if she's refused to do it as it'll look shit and is using my hair as an excuse. Eugh.

Love that very short one - is that jean seberg?
Glad other cow licks have been mastered, I've definitely had shorter hair than this before ans it wasn't such an issue. I don't think.

I'm feeling the same way atm op. My hair is currently just past shoulder length. Very straight very blah.
I have an appointment tomorrow and thinking either cut like shannyn sossamon in pic abover, or michelle williams.

Carneddai · 20/12/2016 12:44

I'm 32 and wondering if I'm entering my midlife if I cut my hair off! I don't want that sheeny bob look I see at the school gates

ArseyTussle · 20/12/2016 12:44

Love those Tilda Swinton ones, but my hair just won't do 'up' like that.

I think you should change your hairdresser to someone who is braver. I can't believe that there is no short hairstyle that would suit you.

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 20/12/2016 12:46

I don't think moments would go up either, it's pretty flat. So fair enough on that but surely very short like Hathaway etc doesn't matter about your parting as there's not really a fringe?

Moments = mine!

Yes the tilda Swinton style is lovely but no idea how she gets the jedward effect.

PossumInAPearTree · 20/12/2016 13:07

Right, am booked in for a complete restyle tomorrow st 4:30! Aggh.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 20/12/2016 13:08

Two

My have is very very very flat, its also fine

I shit you not...will see if i can find an old photo

The hairdresser adds the texture and the wax stick makes it stick up a bit more

She used to razer cut it and now i think she just layers it...dont pay much attention

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 20/12/2016 13:09

Hair not have

Bloody fingers Grin

minipie · 20/12/2016 13:10

Yes shouldn't really matter about your parting with a short pixie cut and very short fringe a la Hathaway. With cowlick and strong parting, you might find some bits don't want to go where you want them, but that's what the product is for.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 20/12/2016 13:16

Old photo when i first had it cut

Straight from the hairdressers...so this has been poofed

i have a short pixie cut and I love it. it suits me (i'm 39), my DH loves it and it's no hassle at all. i've gone from very long to uber short about 3 times and it's great fun. It's just so nice to wash it, give it a quick blast, a bit if product and you're done. it would take 20 mins to dry it before. very tedious...

Last time, i donated my hair to charity which you can do if the pony tail you cut off is 7 inches+ AND they will even take highlighted hair! Plus, if you hate it, it will grow back.

Go for it - i spent years wanting to do it but feeling too self-conscious. then i did, and it was a revelation. at least you'll know, even if it's awful.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 20/12/2016 13:24

Oooh should say two

That even if you dont like it good product should be able to funk it up

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 20/12/2016 13:28

Why on earth was my hairdresser so adamant then. Argh! There's no way I'll br able to get an appt anywhere now to fix it either. I obviously need a good hairdresser - I thought mine was. So tempted to hack some bits of myself right now. But I would regret that!

OP posts:
Cocolepew · 20/12/2016 13:42

Yes it's Jean Seberg, I cut DDs hair like it but short over the ears.
Definitely change hairdresser. I haven't been for 14 yrears because I decided to cut my own, but I would expect a hairdresser to do what I want not what they think is best tbh .

Cocolepew · 20/12/2016 13:45

Dont forget we want photos Possum and Carneddai Smile

Cocolepew · 20/12/2016 13:47

What is itwith hairdressers and poofing hair?
In my 20's I had a Louise Brookes bob and my hair dresser spent ages trying to curl it under a brush. I used to come straight home and wash it out.

PossumInAPearTree · 20/12/2016 13:47

I started a new thread as I felt bad about hijacking this one. With current photo. People are saying to cancel the appt!
