Any suggestions? Open to all types, just want it to last all day and smell beautiful.

Victor and Ralph flower bomb too.

BusterGonad · 15/11/2016 09:17

I second Dior Poison, the red one or purple ones are beautiful. Addict is a firm favorite, it's my all time favorite perfume. At the moment I have angel and Marc Jacobs decadence, I can't really explain the smell, it's kind of heavy, with vanilla and violet. It's beautiful after it's dried down a bit.

guzzywuzzy · 15/11/2016 09:20

The one perfume that I always get compliments on is the Liz Earle No 15. It's strong but not overpowering and lasts well on me.

BusterGonad · 15/11/2016 09:20

Oh goodness, I've forgotten my new favorite, YSL manifesto...oh my god, it's just lush. Very strong and not all tacky. It's like a proper grown up perfume but not at all old fashioned and old ladyish.

passthewineplz · 15/11/2016 09:22

Jo Malone pomegranate noir

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 15/11/2016 09:27

A strong smell is definitely going to get you noticed, only not in a good way.

What's wrong with reapplying though the day?

Teddy1970 · 15/11/2016 09:30

Magie Noire by Lancome, lovely fragrance and long lasting, everytime I wear this I get lots of compliments.
Cinnabar by Estee Lauder, quite strong and spicy, might not be everyones taste but I love it.
Narciso Rodriguez for her, lovely fragrance, a clean and soapy type of smell.

VintagePerfumista · 15/11/2016 09:35

There are many perfumes which last all day, and many of those are mingers!
It's almost the case that any perfume which you find vile on someone else will sit in your nostrils all day!

What kind of things do you generally like in perfumes? An oriental ambre (Opium etc) is going to last longer than a citrus, but if you don't like them, that's no good.

An eau de parfum will probably last longer than an eau de toilette, but sometimes the formulation is different between the two.

A vintage will probably have more sillage than a reformulation but may be completely different.

It's true that the 80s were sillage monsters generally, followed by clean cut watery wishywashy 90s perfumes...

Of the ones listed above, Aromatics is huge, as is Black Orchid, but both very very different.

What perfumes do you like? Or have worn in the past?

TooTiredToArgue · 15/11/2016 09:40

I'd go for opium too. Actually the body lotion lasts very well & is always commented upon when I wear it. I have a friend who wears 'blackberry & bay' by jo malone. That's pretty strong but more fruity...

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 15/11/2016 09:40

Tom ford jasmin rouge is a proper heavy perfume. I only wear it for nights out and I spray it once into the air and walk into it.

Stokey · 15/11/2016 09:42

My favourite ones that last are Frederic Malle Potrait of a Lady - I can still smell this from Saturday night despite having showered twice since then - and Andy Tauer ones, especially L'Air du Desert Morocain.

Cheaper ones - Dior Addict & yes the JPG lady one.

I think Angel is quite Marmite, you either love it or hate it.

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/11/2016 09:45

I recently fell in love with Charlotte Tilbury's "Scent of a Dream". DD works for her and bought home a sample. Not usually my cup of tea but really lovely and definitely lasts all day, I am frequently asked what it is as it's quite an unusual fragrance. I also second Jo Malone...very long lasting, my favourite is Lime, Basil & Mandarin.

BusterGonad · 15/11/2016 09:58

Chardonnay I disagree, I hate a mild drab perfume, give me a spicy oriental any day of the week. Wink

MidnightSheep · 15/11/2016 09:58

1)Poison by Dior (love this and all it's variants)
2)Amarige by Givenchy (I always get positive comments when wearing it)
3) Decadence by Marc Jacobs (so strong it gives me a headache, but I love it!)
4) Bleu by Chanel (actually an aftershave but smells gorgeous and is long lasting)

BusterGonad · 15/11/2016 09:59

Midnight it's nice to find another Decadence lover! Grin

OCSockOrphanage · 15/11/2016 10:00

Ambre Russe is a lovely boozy amber that lasts well and has decent sillage without being strong enough to stun.

VeryPunny · 15/11/2016 10:01

If I am having a power day at work, I tend to wear a men's fougere -something like Sartorial from Penhaligon's (they are free and easy with samples), or some Eau Savage.

MotherFuckingChainsaw · 15/11/2016 10:01

It's giving me a migraine just reading this. Please tell me you don't work in an office. :)

Opium or Poison gets my vote anyway

merrygoround51 · 15/11/2016 10:02

Try Hermes perfumes. Personally I like Rue Fabourg but they all last and are strong

FinnFamilyMoomintroll · 15/11/2016 10:04

Eau Lente by Dyptique is incredibly heavy and long-lasting. It's one of the few scenes I can still smell on myself how after putting it on! It always gets compliments too. It's definitely a winter perfume, smells like cinnamon and spices.

FinnFamilyMoomintroll · 15/11/2016 10:05

hours after putting it on

CocoLoco87 · 15/11/2016 10:06

Chanel and Dior perfumes last all day!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/11/2016 10:07

Shalimar by Guerlain.

Lorelei76 · 15/11/2016 10:08

Knock out scent? Hmm, a few set off my asthma but none have actually made me pass out yet...
I wonder where you'll be wearing this.

ToElleWithIt · 15/11/2016 10:20

Portrait of a lady

Memoir by amouage is huge, fate by amouage is knockout too, but you pay for the privilege
