Following on from the skincare routines post, what ingredients do you make sure you include in your products, for example, Vit C, Vit E, Hyaluronic acid?

TIA

Glad to read your good news Dulci! So glad our P50 party is expanding Grin

EnidButton · 24/11/2016 15:45

Did all my Christmas shopping last night so I'm strongly resisting all the offer emails. So far anyway...

Haven't tried anything except the Kiehl's micro peel (and eye cream) and I really like it so far. Still a bit stingy at first but I can see a difference in the morning. Not sure what is different but there's definitely something. My make up went on better yesterday too. No flaky patches.

Actually I do need a new foundation. Thought Illamasqua skin base was the one but think I was just amazed I'd found foundation that was the right shade. It takes too much working with to get it to look right. Need to get into a dept store and swatch some.

Will test the Kiehls midnight recovery on my wrist later. Going to do those for a week or so then try the Cosrx on chin and p50w everywhere else after that.

hollinhurst84 · 24/11/2016 16:56

US based :)
I have the skin base, it seems to work best with the oval brush types, I got a cheap one off amazon

Pupsiecola · 24/11/2016 18:31

CH has collaborated with Pixi to make a double cleanser in one pot. I shan't be buying as their Glow Tonic aggravated my neck. But in principle it's a good idea.

hollinhurst84 · 24/11/2016 18:44

Ooh I missed that, I'll have to have a look for it later

botemp · 24/11/2016 20:05

I didn't realise they sold Nars at LF Shock. Even the special editions I've been coveting is available with a discount! They also seem to sell Chantecaille now... my basket is overflowing... thanks, Aurora! pretend I was really passive aggressive in tone there

BeautyBay has a really nice TW deep pillow spray set here. The pillow sprays are itty bitty though.

Primark do really nice oval brushes. It helps make my one terrible foundation very workable. I nearly bought a Dior Rouge Dior Lippie in 414 St. Germain (beautiful rosey neutral/nude shade) but will see if there's any good deals available on it tomorrow. Whilst I was there I kind of fell hard for the Nude Air foundation which is one of those serum types. It's really sheer but matte, I'm kind of over the excessive glowiness at the moment so it makes for a nice change. Will be sampling it over the next few days.

Ahem, maybe I'm being really thick simplistic about this but is a double cleanser in one pot not just, I don't know, a cleanser Confused.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster but have just discovered the loveliness that is Nuxe Huile Produgeiuse (sp?) I've seen it in so many beauty boxes I assumed it was rubbish and nothing stood out in the ingredients. I finally tried some on my hand tonight and it's divine! I have chronically dry hands and it soaked in so quickly and they feel so soft!!

I've also been using the ordinary niacinamide, alpha Arbutin, retinoid 2%, Rosehip and azelaic acid.

I stopped the niacinamide & retinoid as I think they had caused some breakouts. The Azelaic acid had been a preorder and arrived the day after I'd vowed (again) not to try anything new for a while so obviously I tried it that night and my skin was so much calmer the next day! I've continued using every night and it's don't more for my pigmentation and breakouts in the last week than the other stuff did. I cannot recommend it enough Smile

EnidButton · 24/11/2016 20:48

I quite like the Nuxe oil too. Think it's the smell I like the most.

Thanks for the brushes tip. Are those the ones that look like hair brushes, shape wise?

I don't understand how you can have a 'double cleanse' in one pot. That makes it a single cleanser surely? Be interesting to see what the reviews for it will be like. People are going wild for it already. Is there a price point for it yet?

hollinhurst84 · 24/11/2016 20:52

£24 for 100ml I think
It's a split pot, so solid oil/balm one side, thick cream cleanser the other

Dulcimena · 24/11/2016 21:07

Shop thank you so much for posting about the azelaic (I can never spell that word) serum, I had been waiting for reports. It sounds like it's been really fab for you. Is that the only one from the order that you're still using?

AuroraPolaris · 24/11/2016 21:44

Which Nars special edition bo???? Hey and don't blame me for that kind of stuff - I've got half a shelf full of Narüko stuff because of you Grin

From TW I only get the pillow spray as I have all the mini versions from other sets. The small roller is really nice for flights and so. Even my kids like it...

I also love the Nuxe oil - such an amazing smell. Someone once gave me the perfume version of it which was pretty disgusting though Confused

AuroraPolaris · 24/11/2016 21:51

Enid you've already finished ALL your Xmas shopping!?!?!? I'm jealous... I hate Xmas shopping!!!!!!!

Shop · 24/11/2016 22:24

Dulcimena at the moment I'm just using that and some nights the rosehip over my night cream.
I want to reintroduce the alpha Arbutin but I'm impatient and quite acne prone so often messing about with other bits then lose track 🙄

I was looking at the nuxe perfume assuming it would smell the same so thank for the warning Bo

EnidButton · 24/11/2016 22:40

Hollin Oh! That makes more sense and £24 doesn't seem too bad. Maybe I should've watched the video BlushGrin

Aurora Not too many to buy (and no DC) and I've been jotting down ideas all year. Did the lot online this afternoon. I quite like it, but it's nice to think it's done. Can put all my festive energy into eating mince pies and watching Home Alone now.

hollinhurst84 · 24/11/2016 22:58

Yeah I'm quite intrigued. I heard no parabens, vegan, no mineral oil and no shea butter

AuroraPolaris · 24/11/2016 23:07

Enid what I dislike is spending money on stuff no one needs just because one "has to" give smg... Same goes for receiving stuff one doesn't really need or want.
I've even told DH I'd much rather we choose smg for the house we both like rather than getting each other stuff we don't need.
Already received a horrid gift in advance from MIL Envy

SheStoodInTheStorm · 24/11/2016 23:21

I've found you again! The thread dropped off for a while. Scrolled back a bit to try and catch up. May just be an observer! You're all so informed!

EnidButton · 24/11/2016 23:29

Aurora I know what you mean. Dare I ask what your mil gift was?

botemp · 24/11/2016 23:45

Thanks for the info on the Azaleic, Shop. I know it's one that's often prescribed to Rosacea sufferers in higher concentrations but good to know this is a promising one from TO at lower doses.

So 50ml of balm and 50ml of cream at £24? That really wouldn't work out well for me as I don't tend to use those at the same rate and 50ml really isn't a lot of cleanser. I do wonder if they're similar in formulation or if they are two distinctively different cleansers.

The Sarah Moon palettes, Aurora. I don't think I want the eyeshadow one, never tried their shadows before and was planning on getting some Surratt anyhow as they seem like more my type of colours. I like the look of the blush palette a lot but will have to nose on the internet for swatches.

I'm sick of the Christmas needless giving too. Especially here in NL since we double up with the St. Nicholas celebration in early December. All adults just get homemade cookies now, seems to be the most crowd pleasing thing I've ever done.

I don't know much about Nuxe though, everything I've tried I've responded badly to and the Prodigieuse oil makes me look well... like a hairy turkey I suppose. Less than flattering to say the least Grin.

I don't think we went anywhere Storm Confused, but sometimes threads disappear on me. Don't know what's up with MN these days.

user1471503992 · 24/11/2016 23:48

May I beg some advice, please? I have been using Paula's Choice 2% salicylate Clear anti-redness exfoliating solution to try to get rid of blackheads/sebaceous filaments and it hasn't really made any impact. I started off using it sporadically but have used it every night for three nights with no major reduction in appearance of blackheads. Everyone seems to laud it as a wonder product after a couple of uses, so is it the right PC acid that people rave about or is there another one? This was a sample and I don't have masses left. My skin is normal/dry, not noticeably sensitive, with fine lines around eyes and on forehead, a little patch of hyper-pigmentation on my forehead that I somehow got under a fringe in winter in Scotland. My face flushes easily/goes hot but the skin doesn't seem to be irritated, just overheated. I have blackheads on and around nose and chin and between eyebrows but not on forehead. I don't really get spots but forehead has been looking a bit bumpy though nothing has come up.

My other routine is: in the morning I use Lush Million Dollar Moisturiser after my shower, and in the evenings I use either Liz Earle C&P or Bobbi Brown cleansing oil or sometimes both but not sure which order is best. The BB is a sample that's running out, I like it but not sure if you'd say it's overpriced and there are cheaper ones with same ingredients? Then I use the PC stuff, then Lush Full of Grace serum bar. No night cream as sales assistant in Lush told me to use the serum bar as night cream. That's it. I have read the whole thread but honestly I'm not sure where to start! If anyone's willing to tackle that I'd be really grateful!

user1471503992 · 24/11/2016 23:54

Oh, and I've gone off the Liz Earle a bit, used to love it and have used it for about 8 years, but I tried Clinique Take the Day Off Balm (another free sample) and thought it was better, but am waiting to use up the LE before buying a full size one - unless anyone would recommend trying something else?

botemp · 25/11/2016 00:05

I'll respond with a bit more effort in the morning as I need to head off to bed now, user. I'm not familiar with Lush products so will have to look up their INCI. How long have you been using the BHA for now?

Also, it's specifically the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid that gets the most love, some like the Resist version which is similar (but far more expensive including some additional anti-age ingredients). The Clear version is more of use for spotty teens and acne sufferers and formulated for oily skin.

Are you cleansing in the morning and do you wear makeup daily?

PickAChew · 25/11/2016 00:08

Wow. I tend to look for what I don't want. Perfume. Plastic microbeads....

user1471503992 · 25/11/2016 00:24

Thanks Botemp! BHA about a month, started off a couple of times a week and then probably forgot about it and started again... but it sounds like I should have got the other one! I don't cleanse in the morning as shower and wash hair every morning and my face feels clean though tight with just water and whatever bits of shampoo end up on my face. I use makeup most week days - Chanel cc cream, tubing mascara and a bit of blusher.
The Lush moisturiser feels nice but sometimes balls up a little/can be too shiny. It and the serum bar fixed some dry patches I had when I was using Nivea blue pot for night and Clinique Age Defense moisturiser for day.

AuroraPolaris · 25/11/2016 11:06

Oh Enid I will sound quite ungrateful, but here it goes... A while ago she told me she wants to take some old pearl necklaces she doesn't wear anymore and make something new for me and wife of BIL. I said it's a very nice idea and added that I'd been looking at stuff myself because I too have a couple of things I inherited that I never wear. So she asked me to show her what I liked and so I did. Well, lo and behold, what she made for me is soooo not my taste, mainly because the jeweller (daughter of her best friend) combined perfectly nice pearls with small black Swarowsky crystals, and then coated (as in glued) the top of this gorgeous uneven pearl, which sits at the center of the necklace, with some more black crystals. So the whole thing not only is not my taste, but looks fake. DH made vomiting signs behind her back [Confused]. OK, end of rant! Back to beauty...

bo I like your idea, but since we also have to send some presents abroad (DH's family) it won't work for us. With friends that we celebrate Xmas lunch if we are here, we also do food presents, or say only small presents for kids. And I also hate the double thing here and how Xmas is overshadowing Sinterklaas. I told the kids this year we are only doing one holiday (since they don't believe in either entity anymore) - they chose Xmas - so SK will only consist of a family meal and poems etc.
Last year I bought some stuff from charities and even for the teachers at school I bought very nice "designed' shopping bags (5€) from Stop Aids.

My family doesn't do Xmas, but last year I gave my mom for her birthday a charity gift through Plan (I think it was school supplies for girls), and she told me it's the best thing she's ever received!

bo I had a look at the palettes but I'm not tempted (same reasons), though they look gorgeous. Already ordered one of my fav perfumes from ICI (had a 15€ voucher which I just received in the mail which came off on top of their usual discount) and still have to order from FU.
