Must try to avoid a thread switch on a Friday night Grin

Another friend recommends Steve so I shall start with him.

bigTillyMint · 18/10/2016 09:56

MI I can recmoment him too.

At hosp with DS trying to distract myself with MN.

hattymattie · 18/10/2016 10:23

Hope all goes well BTM - love and hugs.

Will catch up later - bit rushed.

motherinferior · 18/10/2016 10:28

BTM, check in with us and ask shamelessly for help if you need.

S says buy spare part and fit it ourselves. This will make DP even grumpier. Why is he so grumpy ALL THE TIME? He rang me up yesterday to tell me how much he'd missed me and he'd realised how much he would miss me when I go to India which was secretly quite alarming but then was grumpy when he came in and is enduringly grumpy.

herbaceous · 18/10/2016 11:17

Hope something gets resolved today, BTM, and you get the help you all need.

I'm suffering from grumpy DP also, MI. He's also an expert in Pained Looks, particularly regarding the kitchen floor if it hasn't been cleaned recently. I ignore. Well, outwardly I ignore. Inwardly I seethe.

Day of utter nothing today. Oven man was supposed to come, but didn't because he'd ordered the wrong parts. DS's class was supposed to be doing a play at 'harvest assembly', but it was cancelled for being too long. No-one told all the mums who'd taken time off work to see it. Have heard nothing re job, so fear the worst. But can't investigate other avenues until I have it confirmed.

Have felt of late that I'm always the one to make social arrangements, so took a step back and have waited for people to contact me. They haven't.

And the cat's gone even madder. When he sits on my lap, he grabs my right forearm in his teeth and makes weird growling noises. WTF?

motherinferior · 18/10/2016 11:28

Oh god yes to Pained Looks. AngryAngryAngry

P1nkP0ppy · 18/10/2016 11:42

Fingers crossed for you BTM.

Re Pained looks And the cat's bum pursed lips.... DH has it honed to perfection now as witnessed earlier when I informed told DH I'm off to stay with DS, DDIL and DGSs on Saturday, for a whole week. A whole week of doing lovely things with them, can't wait 😀
He can do aged parents(in law) for once as DDad will hopefully listen to him, with DSis for backup 😀, and I get respite hopefully!

What is it with these Grumpy Old Men? I don't know what's worse, the grumpiness or the long silent sulks....... Oh joy 😕

Cremolafoam · 18/10/2016 12:51

I get the long silent strops. Hours of no response. Monosyllabic murmurs. Angry retorts when I mention movement of furniture/home improvement/tidying up. Then he falls asleep and snores loudly. Hopeless. And meanwhile I live in a house to which I can invite no-one, as it is such a dump.Sad
Off to challenging Pilates class and to visit ddad. Mattress hath come.Grin

Cremolafoam · 18/10/2016 12:52

PP have a lovely time with the dgcs!!

herbaceous · 18/10/2016 13:11

What would happen if you enacted Brisk Cheeriness, crem, and just sorted the house, despite his silent opposition?

I have a 'three strikes and your out' rule in my head. If he ignores me three times about an issue/question I just go ahead and do what I want anyway.

On holiday, when he had been silent for about three days I turned the tables, and ignored him for about half an hour. That was as long as it took for him to come and find me and ask what was wrong. So, he does know how silence and atmosphere affects others. Just chooses to ignore it.

Lalsy · 18/10/2016 13:39

Herbs, that's what I do if I can't get an answer out of dp (I don;t mean luxuries, but just normal stuff).

PP, have a lovely time!

Crem, have you got a treat lined up at all? Sounds like you deserve something fun and relaxing.

OK, who is up for a Lalsy Clothing Challenge? I need a coat. I have waterproofs (the wonderful Land's End Squall parka and two lighter ones), and I have a smartish winter coat that is not too heavy. But I'd like something for days like today - a causal jackety/short coat thing? But I don't like lined furry hoods (on me) and I don't like the sort or unfinished shapeless blankety style in lots of place (too unfinished and shapeless myself). And I don't like puffa things (on me). And lots of jackets seem for tall willowy types. And I want pockets. Have I bored you all enough Grin?

herbaceous · 18/10/2016 14:53

Make way for the coat expert, lalsy. Well, at least one I get home to Internet land. In phone in coffee shop twixt haircut and school collection at the mo.

herbaceous · 18/10/2016 15:10

In the meantime, what about something like this from sea salt

www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/m/women/clothing/casual-jackets-in-soft-cord-and-printed-cotton/seafolly-short-lightweight-traditional-raincoat_pickle.htm

Or is it too nautical?

Lalsy · 18/10/2016 15:11

Oooh yes please, Herbs, forgot about your enthusiasm for such matters!

hattymattie · 18/10/2016 15:14

Lalsy - I have something from Fat Face called the Cheshire Jacket. The pretend sheepskin collar comes off. Lots of pockets - very pleased with it.

Herbs very frustrating day. Like the three strikes idea.

Here I've passed my Fench test - onwards and upwards in my attempts to get nationality. MM - apparently it takes at least a year.

Lalsy · 18/10/2016 15:52

OK, so that is exactly what I would like but without the nautical twiddles (stripey hood and toggles) - sorry, missed that out of my list of exemptions. I've seen those IRL and like them apart from that.

wordassociationfootball · 18/10/2016 16:18

Enjoy the new mattress Crem. Nothing lovelier with new sheets, yum.

Monty, thinking of you. Is DH about to start something new, or between and if so, is he having a wobble or on it? Just generally wos the story.

DH doesn't do pained looks. Or giving much of a shit about the kitchen floor, which is good and bad. He's seeing a therapist this week. He's reading a lot. I am much more productive when he's not here because I unplug the router. He's here a lot. He doesn't seem to understand that if it's on, I cannot resist. I love him. He occasionally seems a bit brighter, and then like he's really not. He saw the doc but a less nice doc and has two months further AD's at same dose. Almost at exactly the same moment in time, my Mum was having a visit from her doc who has doubled her dose. She's been lower than a limbo rail on its lowest setting for a few weeks since a virus. I keep having to buy things or put on make up as Other Things are quite challenging and my two best go-to peeps are not go-to-able.

BTM, waiting for your report. Thinking of you lots.

Dinner tonight with friends of the friend who died last year. We visited her to say goodbye exactly a year ago.

wordassociationfootball · 18/10/2016 16:18

Felicitations Hattie! Star

Cremolafoam · 18/10/2016 16:50

Darling Waf how do you keep going? Such a lot of sadness encircling you.Flowers You are bloody marvellous.
Hatty, well done! That's terrific!
BTM, thinking of you today too.

Herbs, I mostly do ignore dh and get on with things, but am limited by money and wretched hand deterioration ( grip has gone to hell after last week's shenanigans) Also 'Overwhelmedness'
Yeh, constantly feel that. Came over a bit funny in Ikea food shop where I was in getting some work coffee. Not sure if it was a hot flush, tiredness, or just over exertion.. Home now and feeling a bit like you do before you get a virus.

P1nkP0ppy · 18/10/2016 17:01

Oh Crem, I hope you're not going down with something,. Can you self-medicate (of the 🍫🍷🍦🍪 variety) and have an early night? It sounds like exhaustion setting in 💐

Certainly doing my own thing preserves my sanity which is why I tell him most of the time after it's planned 😊 and I too like the idea of 3 strikes, must have a go.

herbaceous · 18/10/2016 17:38

Lalsy, many of Uniqlo's offerings might be up your street. Their down jackets are very light and un-bulky, and rather 'with-it'.

Thus

Crem - funny turns in Ikea are God's way of telling you to lie down on your new mattress.

bigTillyMint · 18/10/2016 18:01

So it was a long morning in the hospital, going to different departments for tests and waiting around. The doctor has just called me and he's going in hopefully tomorrow morning (unlikely to have a bed tonight) for a few days. I feel relieved that he will be in the best place to be looked after given the low WBC count and very low HR. He is apprehensive, but knows it will be for the best. So what should we pack in his bag (I can pop back home at any time, of course!)?

motherinferior · 18/10/2016 18:09

BTM is he in for wbc or overall treatment?

hattymattie · 18/10/2016 18:27

BTM - he is safe and looked after - you need to get some rest. He needs basic clothes, underwear, slippers, change of pj's toothbrush/paste, soap plus his phone/charger, laptop/charger, and some light reading? Oh, and nice towel from home.

motherinferior · 18/10/2016 18:36

Yes, wot Hattie said.
