Must try to avoid a thread switch on a Friday night Grin

Yes, me too BD. It's so much effort to apply for things plus the disappointment of not getting it , is trying. Partner support and commiserations are a necessity not a luxury. Angry oyb.

I Have not managed to emerge from pjs yet. Dragging self around doing piles of washing and unpacking of items brought home. Feeling completely uninspired.

bigTillyMint · 15/10/2016 12:20

Ok it's a date Lalsy! Molly/Addle/anyone else?

BD sorry to hear your DP was not being supportive - don't blame you for putting the phone down.

My two footy fans actually aren't all that sweaty compared to others (watching yoof games even!)

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/10/2016 13:36

LOL at TCE, MI!

BD - sorry about unsupportive DP and job. I'd have put the phone down on him too, probably after shouting like a fishwife.

I was in a foul mood yesterday. We have had a focus group at work, which is now setting up a network (can't say what it is for, but think of something like targeting minorities/disabled and encouraging them to apply to work for us so that we are less stale, male, middle class and pale). I volunteered to chair the network. As did another man. There are 10 people in the focus group, me, two other women and 8 men. I was never going to get elected, was I? I just found it all so predictable. Men don't vote for women in these circumstances. I am automatically vice chair, but I don't quite feel that this is the point - nor do I feel that I can say no to being vice chair, otherwise it will be like sour grapes. My main gripe is that he is a posh, white Oxbridge man, and it will give entirely the wrong message by having him as chair.

Surviving my dad with help of beer at lunchtime. It's that or patricide (parricide?) And can't work out how to turn on the oven.

But have found nice pinky-red silk-velvet long whistles skirt in the chazza by the butcher for £6.50. Two sizes too big but drawstring waist and will be fab with chunky jumper.

Collymollypuff · 15/10/2016 16:15

Well done on survival, chazza shopping and non-patricide/parricide, MI.

Glad both Crepey ds' are going out. I'd love to come to BP tomoz but am under massive pressure re my academic work. Indeed have spent today with dh helping me; very nice of him but somewhat tiring. Crepeys can imagine. Confused

I hope you have a lovely restorative walk, and that this glorious weather holds for you. Thanks

motherinferior · 15/10/2016 16:21

I can feel my sense of self-worth being eroded by the minute here.

motherinferior · 15/10/2016 16:45

But have found a Jilly Cooper among my mum's books. Shock

hattymattie · 15/10/2016 17:26

GrinMI - I had a good friend who ised to say "there's a bit of prole in all of us". Jilly Cooper's a bit of light relief (read Riders and Polo many years agoBlush)

motherinferior · 15/10/2016 17:43

Is this coat too huge to take (i think she bought it when briefly over eight stone)?

Now trying to work out what we do with a large number of rather fab saris. Have resisted 50+ years of pressure to wear a sari and am not going to start now. And none of these choli-blouses would go anywhere near these GGs.

Collymollypuff · 15/10/2016 18:24

Are they vintage, MI? Would the V&A be a possibility?

Lalsy, re good TV – I recommend Ordinary Lies, starting this Tuesday at 9pm, BBC1, and Humans Series 2 starting tomorrow week at 9pm on C4. Both are superb dramas.

Lalsy · 15/10/2016 18:25

Great, BTM. Addle, anyone else?

MI, are you staying over? Skirt sounds lovely.

BD, I hope dp has seen the error of his ways.

Lalsy · 15/10/2016 18:26

Oooh thank you, Molly. Leave the coat MI.

hattymattie · 15/10/2016 18:30

Rats - Humans clashes with Poldark and iplayer doesnt work in France.

Coat a bit er engulfing MI.

motherinferior · 15/10/2016 18:42

Staying till Monday morning. Thus necessitating catch-up for both Humans and Poldark.

Lalsy · 15/10/2016 18:45

Anyone watched The Missing?

motherinferior · 15/10/2016 18:55

Loved it.

hattymattie · 15/10/2016 18:57

Humans not starting till 30th October in fact.

Loved The Missing Lalsy although I have to pay attention. Keeley Hawes and David Morrissey are great.

Rosebag · 15/10/2016 19:00

Ah crem you need a rest cure. Lots of time on the sofa with lovely food and drink ....nice books to read and movies to watch. You must be all in. Flowers

BD sorry about the interview but I guess if the commute was going to be a killer it might have been for the best. Long commutes do nothing for quality of life.

tilly so sorry DS is feeling so weak and tired. But glad he's been out and about with mates. It hopefully lifted his mood. Like wise with rudy's DS.

Good for surviving so far MI I think the coat is one for the chazza. You're lost inside it! Nothing wrong with a bit of Jilly Cooper romping, though....... Grin

I would love a relaxing or even bracing walk around the park in nice crepey company. Alas it's all too far away. I worked until 1 today and have lolled around all afternoon. Eating too much of course. DS1 and DD have gone off to The o2 Arena to the Justin Bieber concert, the tickets for which we bought for her birthday. dS1 seems quite happy to go along...says he's got loads of friends going which is quite something for a bunch of late 20-somethings.

We are going to sit on sofas at the local Everyman and see The Girl Aron The Train. I expect DH will do his Susan and sleep though it all. Hmm

Rosebag · 15/10/2016 19:03

Blimey....autocorrect on speed... The Girl On The Train...and... DH will do his USUAL ( who TF is Susan...! Grin )

Lalsy · 15/10/2016 19:15

I thought it was great too, but hard work! Thank god they gave KH a different hairstyle, especially as with the first one she looked like Line of Duty character (similar taste in coats too).

CointreauVersial · 15/10/2016 19:18

No to coat, MI. As Rudy say, it's wearing you, rather than the other way round. No idea what you can do with saris. Can you use them for some sort of interior decor purpose?

BTM - poor DS. From how you've described him previously it seems out of character for him to be so down. Is it a side effect of feeling so ill and out of energy? Or is he worrying what's wrong with him?

Anyway, we survived the sleepover. To be honest, they were so pooped after a full day of theme parking that they crashed out pretty quickly. Today we've been for lunch with DM who also invited long-lost cousin (the one who we hadn't seen for years until she came to DAunt's funeral). She's so lovely and down to earth (as is her DH; they've been together for 30 years, and I think I shook his hand once, back in the 1990s, and I've never met their kids). ...how did we spend so many years out of touch? Paying the price of fallouts of another generation. Said cousin has now arranged a family reunion next month, and if it all comes off it will be the first time all seven cousins and their children will have been in the same room since....well, ever.

Cremolafoam · 15/10/2016 19:29

MI, You have my sympathies.tis hard going with the AP. Would the local Players/theatre group like the saris? The fabric itself is something I use to use a lot of ( Southall high st) when making costumes. maybe Wilbur knows a costumier?
Coat is awfully big I think.
DM just been on the phone to let me know she has washed the clothes I used for wrapping things in the suitcase. Totally unnecessary. Sigh.
And breathe....
Boo tho Humans/Poldark clash. I am glad of the +1 channels, but that doesn't solve your conundrum Hatty. I am sure Poldark is repeated during the week .....
