Must try to avoid a thread switch on a Friday night Grin

Stropps, no advice but please do vent away. Leaving home is a process & even people in the best of mental health have ups and downs. It's only been a few weeks, although it must seem longer. Glad to hear you're looking after yourself & going to counselling.

Crem, so sorry about DCat.

motherinferior · 02/11/2016 11:35

I offer you all a distraction in the form of my fabulously retro new swimming cap.

Stropperella · 02/11/2016 12:10

Thanks again everyone. Beachy, that is great news about your ds. Good luck with the computer from the dawn of time.
I'm sure you'll all be glad to know my tricky lessons have gone extremely well today.

Stropperella · 02/11/2016 12:10

😁 @ swimming hat

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 02/11/2016 12:13

I fixed it, I am queen of IT, in a retro kind of way GrinGrin

My ddad will be forever grateful.

Nice one Beachy!

Stropps you PREVAILED Star Brew and soothing wishes to your scrapy eyes.

Auriga - Just wanted to send you a belated high five for pressing send on your deadline. I arfed at your 142 steps. Does keep one still, a deadline, doesn't it? Grin

MI - excellent hat. Something 'stately as a galleon' about it. It's a lane-hogging sort of hat. Would a bottle of ferraglobin/minatone assuage you re DD2's.. unwellness.

Addle - macaroons and ranting. Yes, both required in buckets I imagine.

Rose - re packed lunch. When dd2 left her lunch here the other week, I thought about driving it to school, and then.... didn't. She ponced chips and I got to not have my morning hijacked.

Lalsy · 02/11/2016 12:56

Loving retro swimming caps and computers. MI, I hope you hoik your bosom regularly in that cap and glare at small children having fun. Grin.

Beachy, good news on ds. Being able to potter happily is a great asset in difficult times I think.

Stropps, yes, no reins. It isn't as if you are turning up every Saturday with clean laundry. Agree with others, if you can look after yourself, switch off when you can and go to counselling, then you will be in fit state if she will accept help. dd occasionally gets upset about uni, and those phone calls are so draining, even without all the worries you have. That's so good about your lessons!

herbs, good luck today.

Rosebag · 02/11/2016 12:58

Gosh...that looks like only one step away from a BBC B, beachy. Glad to hear DS is trucking on....and assuming your DH will somehow get him up that mountain. Might the progress be something to do with a gurl?? Wink

MI does that actually keep your hair dry?

Glad the morning was more positive stropps , work wise anyway. It does lift one a bit even though other areas are out of control. You are good at what you do, as today's tricky lessons have evidenced. Bank the compliment and pull it out when feeling low Flowers

I am somewhat pleased that lucrative client no.1, having got to the end of the 12 sessions they paid for in advance has today asked me to book another 12, on the same terms except they want to pay more, for a longer session. Whilst I am struggling to fit this in as it's an hours drive away in rush hour (mere detail), i take it as A Good Sign.

Meanwhile I am on my way back from said client, tearing around trying to get the last bits of Dds show costume (I will cheerfully murder the person whose idea it was to make the colour scheme orange and lime green....) Angry

Rosebag · 02/11/2016 13:03

X post...waf Grin DD always has the option of the cafe/bar where she's doing her course. We just agreed she'd take packed lunches especially if she's there till late evening like today and has to have supper there too. Otherwise the cost really mounts up and yes...she stuffs chips and curly fries in preference to all other things. She made herself a rapid panini and dived out to the bus stop I believe.

motherinferior · 02/11/2016 13:09

Won't particularly keep it dry but for me it's a choice between ones that pull my hair and ones that don't seal off all the water - and I'll come home to shower anyway.

I am going to pound up and down determinedly in it.GrinIf, that is, I'm not harbouring the stinking cold I think I am...

motherinferior · 02/11/2016 13:11

Stropps, what is her stated reason for stopping the meds? They made such a difference...

Stropperella · 02/11/2016 13:23

I am buoyed up by reading crepey chat and hearing everyone's news.

MI, she said that the meds "did nothing". And she categorically refuses to talk to a doctor about it either way.

Blackduck · 02/11/2016 13:24

Beachy do DHounds get to go too family therapy too?

Oh I could do 'alone', it's doing 'alone' together that does my head in....

Herbs any news on the job?

magimedi · 02/11/2016 14:15

THIS is my swimming hat Grin. It doesn't keep my hair dry, but it does keep it out of my face. And I hope it strikes terror into the hearts of idlers!!

My Woolovers jumper arrived this am & I am very pleased with it.

Spooky wooooo story coming up:

I was looking for a birthday present for DH this morning & had decided on a Weird Fish top. DH is very hard to buy for as he is 6' 6" & only weighs 11.5stone (I know, I know....). Thought I'd order it this arvo & hoped it would fit. So we went off out to Asda & next door is T K Maxx

Yes - there was the very same sweat shirt in TK Maxx for £26!! And he got to try it on. And it fits!

Actually those macaroni tops & jackets from Weird Fish (they do womens' stuff) are amazing for our climate as they are totally windproof - so great for spring - autumn to pop over a T shirt.

I have done a Bit Too Much this am & am going to go & have a snooze before cooking a chicken curry & a cauliflower one as well. I love cauli in curries.

magimedi · 02/11/2016 14:16

it's doing 'alone' together that does my head in...

Flowers, BD - that is such a sad sentence.

wordassociationfootball · 02/11/2016 14:25

I have never been scared by a swimming hat before Magi Grin

Heartened By Other Crepey Confessions #859
Talk of mould, leaks, crumbling and tattered curtains have made me feel much better about my own hand of household horror top trumps.

I am going to see this amazing woman in concert tonight

motherinferior · 02/11/2016 14:39

Our fridge is leaking too, WAF.

Friend has cancelled outing tonight so it's chicken noodle soup in the Inferiority Complex.Grin

bigTillyMint · 02/11/2016 14:52

Herbs - RENT For a year. Friend doing this. Knows Suffolk countryside not for her. Back in Lo don't in April, experiment over. That is such good advice, WAF.

MI, where did you get that hat, where did you get that hat? Grin

And yours, MM!

Stropps, go you! Well done on the lessons. And "forgetting" about DD for a bit.

Herbs, wondering how your mammoth obs went today?

DS in school today, but not doing terribly well. Still, at least he is still there! Not sure what will happen tomorrow though.
At least I have been able to get on top of my planning, etc. And have not had a teenage toddler stuck to my side all bloody day

motherinferior · 02/11/2016 14:59

A fiver from Simply Swim!

Rosebag · 02/11/2016 15:18

Bright green and orange socks, check. Bright green and orange (3 for 2 in Clares) hair scrunchies, check. Wolfords satin touch at stupid price for posh dos, check. Garner Bb cream, enough points on Boots card so "free", check. Looked at slo cookers in JL but didn't buy as only three types in stock. Black patent clarkes Kendra Siennas heels for posh do, check. Frum looking evening dress returned at JL, check.

I think I'll call it a day. ...note, not a cake. I am on the pre function diet of utter and total desperation.

wordassociationfootball · 02/11/2016 15:28

Also Herbs rent she gets for London covers mortgage AND rental on experiment house.

(No wonder people loathe Londoners Smile)

herbaceous · 02/11/2016 16:40

Survived Ofsted. Ok feedback, apart from usual Prevent type bollocks in Pret.

Renting is indeed an idea, but wouldn't it be difficult shoving DS in and out of schools!

MontserratCaballe · 02/11/2016 16:43

Stropps, sending you soothing vibes. I hope you can put your feet up a little tonight.

Magi, I love TK, although my local one is a bit like a big jumble sale with lots of stuff on the floor. Love the top. And a very slender DH.

Love the hat, MI.

Glad the ££££ client is keen, Rose.

Sorry DS is struggling, BTM. Hope school (and your work) are being supportive.

DD1 has gone on her residential trip and was very tearful. I hope she has now forgotten scary clowns and dodgy voicemails and is having a ball.

Have done various hideous work jobs today and a lovely evening course still to teach. 3 people have cried on me today (students) and I have wept on 1 person, so I am winning. R3 is playing Mozart's requiem which reminds me of being young and singing it at University. Happy days.

We need a new thread, Crepeys. Any ideas?
