Would that be OK?

Must try to avoid a thread switch on a Friday night Grin

Ahh, I see. Must be hugely satisfying......

Meanwhile, at Chateau Cointreau I've been reminded just how immature a 15yo girl can be. I intercepted a fight between DD1 and DD2 over a bowl of apple crumble, the last portion of which had earlier been promised to DD2. DD2 put it in the microwave, DD1 snatched it out and tried to spit on it. At this point I stepped in, fearing that DD2 was about to be showered in molten apple....DD1 then wrestled the bowl from me and hurled the whole thing across the worktop and into the sink ("well, if I can't have it...."), and stomped furiously into the bathroom. DH raged after her, and banged so hard on the bathroom door that he broke the lock. Just another action-filled evening.....

addle · 16/10/2016 20:41

Mrs S, that ear procedure sounds like I could easily, easily get it wrong.

MI, I'm v pleased with my dress. Will PM you with details if interested. Think you would want an item you would like copied - I had an old Paddy Campbell dress from the late 1980s but they don't seem to have taken it apart, just examined it. Shop is just past an actual pie and mash shop and it was ready in under a week.

BTM fingers crossed for DS this week and that you all get some sleep.

IDismyname · 17/10/2016 07:43

Hello Crepeys... Just checking back in with you all. I've ben trying to catch up with all your posts over the last few weeks.
Been so busy with DF who is desperately unwell; it's been brewing for a while, and he'll be coming out of hospital v soon, back home to (basically) pass away. You try and compartmentalise all this stuff. You know it's coming, but you can't open the lid until you arrive at a point at which you have to face the next stage. I think we must be close to the final box - if you catch my drift.

Meanwhile, DS is gearing up to depart for his 'gap yeah' travels, and I'm wondering which will come first - her departure, or DFs demise. DM has told DS that she'll pay for his return flight if he wants to come back for funeral. I know it's done with the best intentions, but he will now feel duty bound to come home. It's entirely his decision, but I'm all for him saying goodbye to Granddad before he goes.

Saw lots of family yesterday, many of whom I hadn't seens for several years. Had that awful feeling that I'll be seeing most of them again quite soon Sad

I feel like I barely know you. I should shuffle off and find the Elderly Parents thread. Sorry.

addle please PM those details, too. I have something I want copied. After all, 'Life Goes On' and I still need clothes.

bigTillyMint · 17/10/2016 07:52

cocoaFlowers
I'm on the elderlies thread and everyone is very lovely on there too, with a wealth of experience.

Lalsy · 17/10/2016 07:53

Ishould, please stay, you are very welcome. And FlowersFlowers.

wordassociationfootball · 17/10/2016 08:05

Cocoa, v diff for D's to know what's right re coming home.

CV, thank you for sharing I Spit In Your Apple Pie. Amazing how these things twist up like tornadoes.

Have a good day crepies.

Rosebag · 17/10/2016 08:51

All this talk of ear detritus is making me cringe...I can't bear even a drop of water in my ears and have to wear ear plugs at the hairdresser!!! DH on the other hand has to go to the nurse for syringing regularly....doesn't seem to improve his Churchillian deafness though... Hmm

Auriga the sciatica...ouch. Did you say you were waiting for surgery? Flowers

MI Addle what brilliant idea re that lovely sari fabric. Is it silk?

WAF CV it is somewhat comforting to me that ranting, throwing of objets and slamming of doors occurs in households other than ours...Grin Excellent.

Welcome back Cocoa So sorry about your DDad. There are quite a few of us who have recently lost parents after horrible illnesses or are coping with elderly loved ones who are very poorly. Stay and talk. Flowers

I am facing a quieter week I think, with some nice social events. Have been invited to supper in a succah tonight. Weird but fun. Tomorrow taking DM out to lunch for her birthday and later that night, seeing a show locally. And to the flat on Friday for a bit, hooray!!! Beachy will message you soon.

Meanwhile I have two functions coming up (yes, again)...wondering if I can get into that flowery, wiggle dress you've all seen. here although they've got another one and it's reduced

Have a good Monday Crepeys.

motherinferior · 17/10/2016 09:19

Cocoa, please stay. We like newbies.

Excitement of the day: lost ticket. And also lost oyster. Damage rectified re ticket (aged father prepared to cover the damage). Have to say I am getting quite fond of Norwich and am slightly looking forward to my return in a few weeks just before dad goes to India (not least because that weekend is slightly work-related AND I will be staying in a friend's very nice house).

Rose, they are very nice Kanjeeveram silk. And I have also recalled that friend is in fact a dress designer - not cheap but worth it with these fabrics. Have also contacted old friend who does wear saris when she is in India. Think my cousins took some back too.

In S&B news I am going to splash out on a multibuy of those woolovers merino long v-necks in red and burnt orange. And have fallen in love with a sample of Miller Harris Vetiver Insolent though I fear it makes me smell like the ageing hippy I am.

IDismyname · 17/10/2016 11:10

Thank you all for your kind words. I introduced myself on your last thread, and was warmly welcomed, but then fell off the crepey radar due to parental issues.

Still waiting for hospital to sort out care. I have a feeling it may take another day or 2.

Going to go for yomp with dog. Feel I have so much pent up "ARGH" that I need to get out. Hoping that will help... followed by a list of domestic tasks that need doing, so at least I can get something done today without straying too far from phone.

MY DM is getting very passive aggressive with me regarding DH; they have never got on particularly well, and DM thinks that he's not supporting me - which is wrong. She seems to get more like it when very stressed.

Am trying to ignore ignore ignore, but am hardly stress free myself!

Time to find a nice lonely spot where I can have a good scream Shock

magimedi · 17/10/2016 12:16

Good to 'see' you again, cocoa. Hope care can get sorted soon.

I have given in & been to the doctor & I have labrynthitis (sp). Won't be around much as bein on the computer does not help. Have got stemetil prescribed & hope it clears up soon.

MontserratCaballe · 17/10/2016 12:33

Hello crepies - sorry I've not been around much either. Too much work, too much low level child issues, childcare problems, DH still no job, sorting my dad's probate - very minor in comparison to what many of you are dealing with but time consuming nonetheless. Still, it's monday, the sun is out and I am about to fold laundry and I hope catch up a bit.

Hope everyone is OK. Magi, that sounds horrid. Do take care Flowers

bigTillyMint · 17/10/2016 13:38

Just been checking dates in my diary - are we still planning a MU on Sat 26th Nov?

motherinferior · 17/10/2016 14:00

Hope so, BTM!

Monty and Cocoa, much strength.

DP rang and told me he'd missed me this weekend.Shock

Cremolafoam · 17/10/2016 14:06

Oh Cocoa, you've got it all going on. So sorry to hear about ur df. I think you are right letting ds say goodbye now and heading off. Im sure your df would say so too xFlowers
Magi, oh thats a wretched thing. I hope you feel much better soon.

Back at work which is vile, but thankfully dull and not as argumentative as dm.Hmm

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 17/10/2016 14:39

Must have been super pants last week, Crem, if work is better Grin Welcome home.

Ds is picking up, Dh is quite crumbly......we seem to be just passing the stress stick around the family. I'm feeling ok at the moment.

Welcome, Ishould.... I think dogs walks are perfect places for quiet contemplation or screaming abdabs. If it rains and you can have a good old sob without fear of looking weird, even better.

I've just taken ddad up a big hill for a 2.25 mile walk in thick mud. He did really well. Suspect he might feel it tomorrow!

Dog walks and the cellar of the house in France. Oh yes. The air was Bleu.

Beachy, so glad ds on an upswing today.Flowers

GiddyGiddyGoat · 17/10/2016 19:02

Found you all! Sorry to have been AWOL but have been having to run around in rl even more than usual - too busy and a bit knackered!

Have been keeping up just about ...

Laters. X

Blackduck · 18/10/2016 06:56

Beachy, BTM and Rudy hoping the progress is onwards and upwards.
Stropps hope DD is not giving you too much grief...

IDismyname · 18/10/2016 07:58

Dog walk worked rather well yesterday. Going to leave the old/deaf/blind one at home today for a rest, and repeat the excercise with the younger one up a few more hills at a faster pace. Hopefully that will erase a bit more cortisol in my system. Looks like it's colder but drier today, so can't put hood up and sniffle quietly, but wear my shades and SMILE.

Fake it till you make it Grin

motherinferior · 18/10/2016 08:28

Argh, anyone in SELondon area know a dishwasher fixer?

Cremolafoam · 18/10/2016 09:03

Cocoa -happy walking!Smile

MI, sorry can't help.Hmm

GGG I was beginning to wonder where you were hiding.Grin

Home awaiting Grand Arrival Of New Mattress. Very excited. Not telling you how old the current mattress Blush is but am currently arranging removal by council. Oh the excitement. Then can make up with 50th birthday linen sheets etc that I have been dying to try out. Will sleep like an angel tonight, instead of feeling like I have done 3 rounds with Henry Cooper.
Small things Crepeys.

MrsWobble3 · 18/10/2016 09:09

MI, we have used Selectric in Blackheath for all manner of white goods repairs so you might give them a call and see if they can help. I'm not sure where the repairmen are based - don't think it would be the shop but presumably still SE London.

Lalsy · 18/10/2016 09:13

MI, have you tried the EDF? I find it pretty good for that sort of thing as people tend to move on so getting recent recommendations is handy.

New mattress is VERY exciting, Crem. We got one last year and it is so fab!

Yes, as BD says, hope all poorly boys are holding their own/on the up. Thinking of you all. And Stropps, loved the photos - looks like you had a great time. Hope dd is also holding her own.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 18/10/2016 09:14

Aaaah, love Selectric. I remember it when it was Butcher Curnow, a very old fashioned chemist, where I used to buy Bronnly lemon soap for my mum each Christmas.....

No idea about dishwashers though Grin
