Inspired by the useful thread. I bought a superdry bomber with a fluffy hood this winter. It was I think £85. It looked fab for about a month then it started shedding lining under the arms in white lumps which lin like I have some crazy disease. Then one of the Zips broke. It's going in the charity shop nah soon and I've had it about 9 months. Unimpressed!
Please guide me with what else not to waste my cash on Grin

Its been a shit year for fashion

leccybill · 21/08/2016 19:42

Bloody Bardot tops. Most uncomfortable things ever. I've got very narrow shoulders so they just creep up to my collar if I so much as move my arm an inch.
They look shit on me and are now in the charity shop bag.

P1nkP0ppy · 21/08/2016 20:04

...chubby, frumpy nana....... Mk.2 here 😟
I thought I didn't look too bad until I caught sight of myself in a mirror at DS's last week, now completely despondent that new chinos and striped top make me look like Coco the Clown in a freaky horror movie 😱

I give up.

A Ladyshave (I know)
I have copious skin allergies so thought I'd use this instead of a disposable razor. It sounds like the loudest vibrator ever and chops off longer, silky hair to make it stubbly and spiky without ever removing it.
The neighbours must think I'm having a whale of a time, whereas I'm actually ranting to myself and preparing for a bloody session with a Bic!

NicknameUsed · 21/08/2016 22:52

Disposable razors are horrible. I use the Venus reusable ones and they are much more gentle on your skin.

I'm not surprised you react to Bic disposables.

Unicorn1981 · 24/08/2016 08:15

The Bic ones cut my legs to shreds

I bought some lovely espadrilles from Monsoon for summer, with the ties at the ankles. They are lovely but the ribbon slips down at the back so that every 10 minutes I have to stop and pull the bloody thing back up. Gutted as they were navy and had a lovely wedge heel and were actually quite comfy.

TWOBANANAS · 24/08/2016 13:01

Weird Fish tops/tunics. I thought I looked the business. Was then told I'd aged 15 years in them. Sold them all on ebay.

Whathaveilost · 24/08/2016 13:09

twobabanas
I know what you mean, I had a lovely wrap around dress that I thought made me look polished and sophisticated until some said ' whose nan have you come as?' Gutted
I asked DH later what he thought and he said I looked frumpy!

I gave the dress to my friend and she looks great and gets compliments all the time in it!

I have to say Hush ruched skirt - nothing wrong with it as such, but not suitable for the purpose I bought it (2 of them actually) for.
I have the Boden one that I love and wear all the time. Hush looked lovely when I tried it on, nice decent length for work too. Except that - as I discovered on the first day I wore it, in front of about a few dozen male colleagues - when I walk, it keeps climbing up and in just a few steps, the knee-lenght skirt became a proper mini.

KatharinaRosalie · 24/08/2016 16:07

To add - at my workplace and my position, wearing a mini skirt is most definitely not something I would do on purpose. Spent the rest of the day hobbling around holding the hem down.

WitchWithAStitch · 24/08/2016 16:10

Geox shoes, sweatiest, most plasticky horrors I've ever worn 😡

HelsinkiLights · 24/08/2016 19:15

Laura Geller brighten & balance powder foundation: powdery, orange & no coverage. (Got sucked in by QVC demos.)
Have gone back to my tried & trusted Max Factor Facefinity Powder Foundation.

TomDaleysTightTrunks · 26/08/2016 08:03

helsinki me too! I've been using Facefinity for ages and I love it so why do I always think 'that one might be better!'
It never is. I want to love the Balance and Brighten but it makes me look greasy after an hour or so. So disappointed. I need to stockpile Facefinity Compacts incase it's ever discontinued.

HelsinkiLights · 28/08/2016 22:55

Don't give me nightmares TomDaley
I've only just got over the trauma of the discontinuation of Virgin Vie One Step Face BaseShock & that was nearly 10 years ago.
Max Factor will have to keep on making Facefinity or they will be in big big trouble.....with me Grin

Sensationails - I put a layer of the base/strengthener on, thought "Oooh shiney" then after 2 days it peeled in nasty big chunks.
I then sat with the remover (Acetone based -nice Hmm ) on cotton pads in foil to try and remove, gave up and over the space of a week managed to prise it off.
I think I would need to do the full 3 layers (I bought the base/clear polish and matte topcoat) but as I can only wear polish when I'm on holiday, I don't want to spend a whole afternoon in Acetone.
I'll try again , next time I'm off work (having invested £££)

And some shapwear vests and sports bras that I cannot get on Blush
I can't pull it over my head due to my dodgy arms. I can't pull it over my hips without breaking into the kind of sweat that makes me need another shower.
I thought i was going to have to cut myself out.........................

user1471888857 · 29/08/2016 08:04

Illamasqua foundation - nearly £30 and it is like rubbing tip ex on your face.
So thick and feels horrible

Dowser · 29/08/2016 08:34

Just googled Bardot tops. Now in know ;-)

I think I'll pass on those.
No, ill definitely pass.

BlueberryMuffins76 · 29/08/2016 08:46

Some skincare from Neals Yard. I thought it'd be nice to shake up my skin care routine and change to something more natural, spent a fortune on cleanser, toner, moisturiser, masks etc after a consultation about my skin type. 2 weeks in and my skin was the worst it's ever been, awful spots and irritation which meant I had to spend ££ on products to correct it! Never again.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 29/08/2016 20:34

Oh I forgot.

Some 'organic, all natural' face cream good for rosacea. It honestly smells like a roast chicken baste and broke me out in horrible spots, although it didn't aggravate the redness.
