Inspired by the useful thread. I bought a superdry bomber with a fluffy hood this winter. It was I think £85. It looked fab for about a month then it started shedding lining under the arms in white lumps which lin like I have some crazy disease. Then one of the Zips broke. It's going in the charity shop nah soon and I've had it about 9 months. Unimpressed!
Please guide me with what else not to waste my cash on Grin

Op, so the lining on the hoody has shredded and the zip is broken and you want to give it to a charity shop?

Great.

BlueEyedWonder · 20/08/2016 14:11

No clothing buy regrets but hair and beauty ones aplenty:
Bumble and Bumble hair cream that was meant to replace blow drying. NO. IT. DID. NOT.
Boots curling mousse. CRISPY. HAIR.
Maybelline eye brow crayon. LOOK. LIKE. I. HAVE. 2. SLUGS. ON. MY. FACE.

Agree with others, best buy has been Nip and Fab glycolic fix pads and Hydralauron. I look brighter and younger.

Heathen4Hire · 20/08/2016 14:15

Another...

Epilator.

Tried it on one leg, frightened myself to death with the pain, used a razor on the other leg.

It's now in a drawer.

ayeokthen · 20/08/2016 14:16

My SIL is selling Younique makeup so to be supportive I spent £30 (!!!!) on mascara that was usable for about 2 months before it went gloopy and mingling.

ayeokthen · 20/08/2016 14:16

*minging

Cool1Cat · 20/08/2016 14:38

Mac liquid eyeliner: cannot and will not ever be able to get it on right. Bought it because it's impossible to find purple eye crayons and this is a lovely colour

n0ne · 20/08/2016 14:48

50 quids-worth of foundation and hot cloth cleanser from Boots No7. Being mixed race I have a skin shade that most brands don't cater for, plus I have acne which leaves me with very visible dark scars. I asked in Boots for a natural BB cream/mineral foundation for my skin, and they used their fabulous machine on my face and produced the first foundation I've ever seen that was the right colour. Thrilled, I bought 2 (I don't live in the UK) and also their hot cloth cleanser which I'd heard people rave about on here (well, the Liz Earle one, but what's the difference, right?) Only when I got home did I realise both products are full of chemicals and parabens Sad

I'm still using them as it seems such a waste otherwise (I never spend ££s on cosmetics) but I hate that I'm putting that crap on my skin. And I bet none of the natural brands make a foundation the right colour SadSadSad

MarvinKMooney · 20/08/2016 14:58

cool1cat - I use a purple eye crayon from clinique. It's in the cream shaper range and the shade is 'starry plum'.

(It's not often I can contribute to an S&B thread!)

Buddahbelly · 20/08/2016 17:30

Whathaveilost - What do you think charity shops do with all the mountain of clothes that they are not able to sell due to stains/missing parts. They don't just bin them. All un usable donations are bagged up and sold to a recycling textile company for money so the charity still makes a profit whether they can sell in their hops or they cant.

YvaineStormhold · 20/08/2016 17:40

God, so much.

A maxi dress from Cath Kidston that I look an absolute twat in. Didn't wear it once.

A floral shirt dress thing from Zara that I bought to 'slim into'.

An Evangeline dress in an unflattering shade of beige that makes me look undead.

A silver pleated maxi skirt from Topshop which I have worn twice but feel I am just too old and fat to look trendily geeky in, and instead just look like a chubby frumpy nana.

Some navy culottes from Boden which I know I won't wear. They're going back, I think.

I shouldn't be allowed to buy clothes during witch week. It's like I deliberately avoid buying what I know suits me, and attempt to be a whole other person, which results in me looking like Grayson Perry.

cariboo · 20/08/2016 19:01

Furious that I spent as much as I did on Avene "haute protection" tinted compact! It's like brown paste - war paint?

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 21/08/2016 01:50

Those of you unimpressed with crispy hair curling products - wait until your hair is completely dry then scrunch the hell out of it and you should have lovely defined curls. Called 'scrunching the cast' if I remember right.

My worst purchases are the mountains of makeup - I hardly wear anything nowadays, foundation, blusher, mascara, brows and lips, yet still bought another nude eye palette from Smashbox. I'm an idiot - I want to sell an almost identical Clinique one!

I'm trying to get rid of clothes and have a capsule wardrobe. Still bought a summery holiday dress which I have worn once, won't get an opportunity to wear again this summer (it's quite dressy) and hopefully won't fit into next summer as I'm trying to lose weight. Inexpensive but still.

Also a white top from H&M, it was only a fiver so not too bad, but I ironed it today and it looks like a rag. Stained and misshapen, none of the others I bought have gone that way Confused.

itsonlysubterfuge · 21/08/2016 08:28

I had loads of half used/unused hair care products and body washes. I wanted to bin them, but it felt wasteful, so I called the local homeless youth centre and they said they accepted them as donations, even ones that had been opened and used. So I got rid of all the stuff I was never going to use and hopefully it went to good use.

Badders123 · 21/08/2016 08:35

Stormhold...sorry but that made me howl Grin
Ugh
So much
I don't buy things often as I don't have the cash really BUT every single thing I have bought from t k maxx has been utter rubbish/doesn't suit me
I ordered a few bits from the next sale - all went back - they lookedLike dish rags on
Ugh
I'm hoping to lose weight too so am trying not to buy anything til I have re he's my mythical weight Hmm

LavenderEverywhere · 21/08/2016 08:35

I am just too old and fat to look trendily geeky in, and instead just look like a chubby frumpy nana.

Are you my long lost twin? You've just described how I feel to a tee in virtually anything remotely fashionable that I try on.

80sWaistcoat · 21/08/2016 08:49

Pair of Vionics flip flops for plantar fasciitis feet. V expensive, looked like cruise wear for nans and cur my feet to bits. Going to charity shop.

WhiteHairReally · 21/08/2016 09:40

The navy jersey blazer with stripy lining, that 'goes with a skinnies'.

I don't own a single pair of skinnies! And it's too bright a navy.

Dowser · 21/08/2016 10:35

I bought bare minerals foundations and eye palette. Thankfully at tkmax so didn't waste a boat load of money.
I used it on my wedding day and once more since then.
My beauty routine consists of a hot flannel face wash, an application of my home made nasty chemical free moisturiser, a slap of liquid foundation and some blusher and lipstick.

So why on earth did I think I was going to pissfart around with poncey brushes and little pots I can barely open.

Don't get me started on the summer hoard of dresses I was going to slim into...I've got 3.5 weeks before our holiday to Cyprus for our first wedding anniversary.

Those 8 squares of divine milk chocolate with sea salt and toffee I've just eaten....were divine!

Longislandicetee · 21/08/2016 11:41

An orange jumpsuit. I looked like an extra or escapee from Prisoner Cell Block H.Blush

PollyPerky · 21/08/2016 19:10

Disappointing- Bobbi Brown long last cream shadow in a pot. Bought online, same shade as the powder one I have and it's tons lighter. :)

PollyPerky · 21/08/2016 19:11

Gaelforce · 21/08/2016 19:29

A long A line (maxi) flared brown jute-coloured skirt from East.
My DH said it was "very Amish". I'm 5'3.
I have no answer.

DavenotChas · 21/08/2016 19:33

Hassled I too bought a bright yellow cut out shoulder top in the Sainsburys sale and my husband who never notices what I wear did a comedy double take when I wore it. If he laughed at me then Christ knows what people who have the ability to choose their own clothes would think...

singleandfabulous · 21/08/2016 19:35

Roar! at Fuckoffdailymailyoufuckers and her lips like an arsehole. Grin You have to be really carefull with brown lipstick to avoid the wet anus look.

Ive had loads of wasted buys this year:

The zara laced pointed flats in black & tan which ripped my feet to shreds.
The Wall London wedges that just look frumpy.
The Monsoon dress that looks like a nighty crossed with a tent.
The Zara blouses that stick to everything with static.
The ASOS flats that look really cheap & shiny.
I think the lesson here is to buy things that are made of natural fibers & fit well.

YvaineStormhold · 21/08/2016 19:36

Grin at 'Amish'.

Like my Hush tunic. Very Amish.
