how old were you when you really started noticing grey hairs

And what is your natural hair colour?

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks some silvery hairs in my hair. I was a bit taken aback to begin with (was a wake up call about my own mortality!) then reconsidered that I had done well to get to 34 without any signs of noticeable grey.

Just wondered about when you first spotted grey hairs? My hair is mousey brown.

I was expecting people to say 40s!

My first one was at 27. Noticed more than I can pluck out one by one at 35.

But they are dispersed and hidden on the underside of my hair so they are quite hidden without dye.

Both dsis were grey in 20s but were very dark and both dye their hair. I'm blond and although I know there is a few it does blend better with fair hair.

Redhead, gone to dark red.
First noticed one in my 20s, a few more mid 30s. Since I was 40 last year, I guess I have 20, which I pull out.

Early 40s, just the odd one or two though - mid blonde hair

  1. I've been dying my hair the whole of my adult life!

Blonde. 32. Started with morning sickness. Bypassed grey and went straight to white. Confused

37, medium brown hair.
They're more visible if I part my hair in the centre, or straighten it. I pluck them from my hairline, but have never dyed my hair and don't intend to start now.

17.

I dyed it until last year.

I'm 85% grey/white and 41yo.

In some light my hair looks blue! I love it. A bugger to grow out, but I'm delighted with the results.

Oh, I was a shade frequently referred to as 'wet mouse' Grin

I'm very dark brunette and have only got my first few this year at 43. No intention of getting on the dye treadmill, will just go with it. I appreciate I might not have been quite so sanguine if they'd appeared at 23.

I've just recently found two white hairs - I'm 40 in September. I reckon I've done well to last this long!

21 when they started appearing, very dark brown hair

Mid 40s now and probably only 10% grey, if that.

However my pubes are now about 80%

I'm 46 and have naturally mousey hair. I only really noticed the greys quite recently 😢

About 20 Confused I'm now 34 and I have to dye it as there are quiet a lot of greys present - but not enough to make it look ok not to dye!

I noticed one at 25. Now nearly 45, l have a small amount of silver underneath. I have shoulder length, wavy, chestnut hair that helps disguise it.
I'm not particularly interested in colouring it - l'm growing it instead!

I was about 42, seriously bad divorce and noticed a few white hairs. Thought that was it and plucked them. I wondered if it was the stress as I'm ok again now.

Dark hair, 48.

Odd hairs from my mid 20s, a couple of definite badger stripes now I'm 33. Very dark brown hair. Haven't felt any need to dye it yet though, I figure ageing beats the alternative! (While fully reserving the right to change my mind entirely and start covering it with a vengeance at some future date if I want to).

Mid brown hair and since 32 I've had to dye it or Id have about 40% grey at the parting.

The sides and back are not so bad but the parting is very noticeable.

I've got dark brown hair and get about 5 recurring ones around my temples. I'm 36 now and they started about 32 and haven't really progressed very fast

I'm 49 and have started noticing a few around the temples that are noticeable only when hair is tied back. Hair is dark brown.

Red - 30ish. Starting to fade, with white hair in my fringe.
Someone commented the other day it was looking lighter.

Sometime in my teens.
I'm 41 now, I dye my hair/root touch up every 10-14 days.
I'm naturally dark brown but dye it golden brown.
