how old were you when you really started noticing grey hairs

And what is your natural hair colour?

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks some silvery hairs in my hair. I was a bit taken aback to begin with (was a wake up call about my own mortality!) then reconsidered that I had done well to get to 34 without any signs of noticeable grey.

Just wondered about when you first spotted grey hairs? My hair is mousey brown.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 20/06/2016 20:50

My hairs brown.

Gazelda · 20/06/2016 20:51
  1. I'm blonde.
MNetter15 · 20/06/2016 20:51

None yet (mid 30's) but I have the odd white eyebrow hair and white whisker on my chin 😭

Dark blonde/light blonde hair

Luciferbox · 20/06/2016 20:51

Redhead here. First moved white hairs when I was about 22.

SweetChickadee · 20/06/2016 20:53

mid 20s. Dark blonde/light brown naturally

I'm now 40 and about a quarter grey I think, maybe more. It's dyed blonde though as that covers them up best.

I think I'm too young to be that grey.

I'll rethink in about 10yrs and rock the grey pixie crop.

TwatbadgingCuntfuckery · 20/06/2016 20:53

the day I turned 30.

Not massively bothered by it. Hair colour is mid- light brown and I sometimes dye it red.

I'm actually looking forward to having a full head of grey. It'll make dyeing my hair all kinds of weird and wonderful colours far easier.

I'll be 60 with purple and blue hair.

feckity · 20/06/2016 20:54

Oh yeah, my hair is a lovely sludgy mid brown. I'd quite like to skip the slow progression of grey and go straight to having full head of silver, much more interesting than my current hair colour.

DramaAlpaca · 20/06/2016 20:57

Don't hate me Grin but I'm 52, have light brown hair & no grey yet.

It's genetic as my DM is 80 with no grey and her mother only went slightly grey in her 90s.

TheFallenMadonna · 20/06/2016 20:59
  1. Completely grey by early 20s. Dark brown hair (albeit briefly!!!)
CMOTDibbler · 20/06/2016 21:01

Mousey, 20ish. Had to use permanent dye rather than semis to cover it by the time I was 28. Now I'm 43 and a silver fox! Love my long, white, hair Grin

allegretto · 20/06/2016 21:01

Now at 43 I have noticed 2 or 3 in my light brown hair.

allegretto · 20/06/2016 21:02

But I'd rather be grey than balding (which I am!)

Alicekeach · 20/06/2016 21:06

Dark brown hair. Started going grey at 18. Had to start dying at 25 to cover them up.

TooMuchCheesecake · 20/06/2016 21:11

I have medium brown hair. I started noticing the odd grey hair here and there at the age of 30. A year and a half later and I have quite a few around my hairline. Too many for me to pluck out now Blush

helenlove · 20/06/2016 21:14

I've had the odd grey hair since early 20's. Now at 32 I have LOADS and really enjoy a good session with the tweezers plucking then out. I have black hair so they are easy to spot but under my top layer of hair. Will probably have to start dying them at some stage but I really do enjoy plucking them out. In the car.

3littlebadgers · 20/06/2016 21:14

Love this thread, thanks everyone. I had one or two in my parting at 32, now, getting ready to turn 36 I'm still mostly brownish-mouse but Whichever way you'd part my hair you'd be able to find a white hair. I have mega thick hair anyway but the white hairs tend to look almost like a couple of hairs stuck together. I'll need my own postcode once they all go grey Shock

Cliffdiver · 20/06/2016 21:15

I'm 29 and noticed my first a couple of months ago. Pulled about 3 out since. Medium brown hair.

MIL has medium-light brown hair and has not 1 grey hair... She's 72!

PaintedDrivesAndPolishedGrass · 20/06/2016 21:19

48, mousey brown, none yet on head but have a few in my eyebrows.

Trills · 20/06/2016 21:22

I've had a handful of recurring ones for a while and just pulled out the ones that I easily saw in the mirror.

Now at 32 I think that's not a sustainable strategy.

AdoraKiora · 20/06/2016 21:25

Late twenties. Brunette.

Now late thirties and I have got quite a bit of grey around my hairline.

Polkadot1974 · 20/06/2016 21:27

Red hair. I'm fading rather than greying and getting white hairs but hoping they look like highlights

Tokelau · 20/06/2016 21:30

Mid forties, dark blond, light brown hair. No grey hairs yet, although I do have one in my eyebrows.

Met DH when he was eighteen and he was grey around the temples then!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/06/2016 21:31
  1. Very dark brown black hair.

Got really bad after 40.

Naicecuppatea · 20/06/2016 21:32

Late teens for me too. Now 40 and am pretty much 70-80% white I suspect.

LBOCS2 · 20/06/2016 21:32

I'm 31 now and recently grew out my dark brown hair - it's about 20% grey.
