90s "bodysuits" or "bodies" are back!

They look to be in lots of the shops aimed at youngsters.

Memories of youthful fumblings!

They were so bad for VPL and fanjo health, and yet strangely comfy.

I had one, a tight black V-neck with pearly buttons, I loved so much I wore it until the lycra went side seams split.

If you do the side swipe you have to change sides each time unless you fancy the seam on one leg going

GabsAlot · 07/06/2016 20:29

love bodies! had loads were so comfy

doubt i wold fit inone now

ChocChocPorridge · 07/06/2016 20:34

I didn't think they'd ever really gone away - I have a few. I find them useful for holding my knickers up when wearing a skirt and no tights smile

Why has this not been addressed?

Why would your knickers fall down without tights?

Isn't it tights that fall down?

Bodies though.. hmmm.. no. I don't think they're for me these days..

P1nkP0ppy · 07/06/2016 20:34

😀😀
Gawd, those were the days....... I'm long bodied with ample norms now so have no intention of trying the garrotted genitals look again!

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/06/2016 20:36

why would it give you thrush? any more than pants would? All mine were M&S cotton, black, some ribbed.
they were rubbish for tall birds though - ouch! and yes we had pubes back then..so it could hurt
They were surprisingly flattering as sucked you in a bit possibly mine were too small because of being tall though and great to wear under something for a smooth outline. Mine were usually with a button front grungy skirt, or ski pants, and then a crochet jumper over the top. Oh the glamour...

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/06/2016 20:37

and yes I always wore pants with them.. because they were not underwear!

emwithme · 07/06/2016 20:46

I remember attempting to get up to shenanigans in a car with someone I shouldn't have been attempting shenanigans with. He had a nightmare trying to get through a pair of very short levi 501 cut-offs, a (black) body, a pair of opaque tights and a pair of knickers. Plus, I was wearing DM boots so I couldn't just step out of layers...

I fucking loved that outfit. I just wish I was as fat now as I thought I was then.

AbernathysFringe · 07/06/2016 20:47

Now, with my dungarees, I can dress exactly like my baby!
Hmm

(I love my dungarees)

belgina · 07/06/2016 20:49

I never got on with them. I reckon they were designed for short women, because mine would not stay fastened at all. I tried different brands with same effect. Occasionally I had one that stayed closed when first on, but it only took 2 steps for it to ping open. I wish the next generation much luck.

(I don't remember them going through a revival in this way before either)

exWifebeginsat40 · 07/06/2016 20:50

yeah, memories of ricocheting off the toilet walls like a half-dressed, hammered pinball trying to get the fucking thing done up again.

i think i'll pass.

hookiewookie29 · 07/06/2016 20:52

Had loads of them and loved them.Used to wear them under chiffon blouses or fitted jackets.
Used to start off the evening undoing the poppers to wee.....and end it by just pulling it to one side ( think I may have accidentally let go mid flow occasionally.....)

flowerfairy · 07/06/2016 20:52

I had one or two, which when I wore them thought I was the bees knees. Though in reality and the wisdom of age I have long body and remember the feeling of being cut in half from fanjo to boob, not to mention the lack of a bra making me look like an ironing board. DH wasn't put off thankfully! Ah yes and the drunken fumbling with press studs in the loo after one too many Merrydown or vodka and lime cordial, hoping that they were fully locked before dancing the night away. Oh happy days!

bakeoffcake · 07/06/2016 21:02

My DD aged 22 bought one about a month ago.

She wore it on a night out and had to unpop the poppers half way through the evening, as they weren't very smooth and was so uncomfortable they were digging into her you know what!

She hasn't worn it sinceHmm

Inertia · 07/06/2016 21:03

I was stunned that they are making a comeback- just doing the poppers up was a yoga workout in itself.

My 90s go-to outfit was a body with cut-off denim shorts, thick black tights, and DMs - I was half the size then.

They aren't even a very good incentive to stop troughing crisps, chocolate and gin embark on a healthy eating plan, because I wouldn't wear them again if you paid me.

Janefromdowntheroad · 07/06/2016 21:05

Ibe just bought two from topshop.

No bra because no tits!

CauliflowerBalti · 07/06/2016 21:12

I think the shape of my vag was defined by bodysuits. Like when Chinese women bind their feet.

Bloody loved them.

Would look awful on me now.

CoolCarrie · 07/06/2016 21:14

I saw a bodysuit in H & M last week and had to look twice, omg they are back! I had a black lacey one with flower pattern, and used to wear it during the day with waistcoats, or at night , without a bra, long before Madonna ever flashed her nips! God I wish I had that figure now!

Acornantics · 07/06/2016 21:21

Ooh distant memories of a much beloved and oft worn crushed velvet body...

2catsnowaiting · 07/06/2016 21:23

Hideous, but then I think any T-shirts/tops tucked in to trousers or skirts look weird and bodies are as tucked in as you can have. I did have them in the 90s though, but didn't have a post-baby belly back then. Can't imagine it being a good look these days.

2catsnowaiting · 07/06/2016 21:26

choc definitely think if someone's knickers are falling down they need to buy smaller ones. I can honestly say my knickers have never ever fallen down.

EddieStobbart · 07/06/2016 21:34

I'm v taken aback to hear that no pants was/is the norm, I never knew this! We were all wearing them when I started uni and everyone I knew well enough to know about such things wore them with pants. I thought the point of the crotch bit was to create a smooth line (and hold up your tights) not an attempt to decimate M&S knicker sales! My eyes have been opened!

SausageSmuggler · 07/06/2016 21:36

I had a bottle green velvet one. It was so itchy and uncomfortable around my fanjo I only wore it once!

Athrawes · 07/06/2016 21:39

So, would this be bad?

SueTrinder · 07/06/2016 21:41

Now this is a look revived just to make us all realise exactly how fat we've got over the last 20 years. I wore mine with a Top Shop size 10 navy suede mini (I loved that mini, it was a sad day when I had to admit I'd never fit into it again), opaque black tights and my DMs (with colourful laces). I loved that outfit. And I had a tie-dyed crocheted top I wore over a body and legging combination. Sigh. And now I wear Boden, what happened to me?

idontlikealdi · 07/06/2016 21:43

I use to wear them under a dress with spaghetti straps or under a lumberjack or chiffon shirt.

I am nearly 40 and a bit fat now - I won't be revisiting the trend!
