90s "bodysuits" or "bodies" are back!

They look to be in lots of the shops aimed at youngsters.

Memories of youthful fumblings!

They were so bad for VPL and fanjo health, and yet strangely comfy.

I had one, a tight black V-neck with pearly buttons, I loved so much I wore it until the lycra went side seams split.

I saw some in TopShop when I was out with DD , I wouldn't attempt one now.

Many (many many) years ago, I had a black lace M&S bodysuit which I wore with a pleather skirt, a brocade blaver, satin heels and lace tights, all in black.
I thought I looked lush (which I probably did, I was size 8-10 and youthful)

JedRambosteen · 06/06/2016 20:31

On the upside, things have moved on in minge management since the 90s so pube-trapped-in-poppers is less of a problem now. Perhaps they were due a revival now that one of the major hazards has been addressed.

SapphireSeptember · 06/06/2016 21:04

70 That outfit sounds amazing! I'm a little too young to remember them first time around, and I don't think I could pull one off. Blush

OublietteBravo · 06/06/2016 21:11

I had a black and white gingham patterned scoop neck one from C&A that I absolutely loved. Probably circa 1992. I don't think I fancy repeating the look these days though.

Emochild · 06/06/2016 21:11

Saw someone wearing one with jeans the other day

The massive VPL issue has not been resolved

I used to wear them under floral dresses why I thought this was a good look when I was 15 is beyond me or with jeans and a chiffon shirt

Horrible things

And balancing yourself with your head on the toilet door while trying to do the poppers up after a few pints of cider and black was never fun!

SlinkyVagabond · 06/06/2016 21:29

I had an off the shoulder one that I wore with 501s, my Annie Lennox crop and DM shoes. sigh.
The boohoo ones have no fastening at all-sewn up fanjo. Someone (muggins) has said they will unstitch and put in poppers.

TSSDNCOP · 06/06/2016 21:41

Didn't one just do the side slide after a few drinks?

I had loads, I was warning today's teens only the other day of the perils of buying one too short in the body. The pressure on ones minge is tear inducing after a while.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 06/06/2016 21:47

You're not supposed to wear pants with them anymore.

I can't get my head round this.

I do undo it if I need to pee. Knowing my luck I'd pee all over myself otherwise ha

fastdaytears · 06/06/2016 21:49

Whaaaat? I definitely wear pants with mine! Did not get the memo

freshprincess · 06/06/2016 21:49

I never got the hang of pushing it to the side. Never had a Velcro fastening one, though I do remember the hook and eyes.

whattheseithakasmean · 06/06/2016 21:51

Hook and eyes were the work of the devil on a night out. Just too much hassle now & they had a nasty tendency to ride up the bum crack as well. So it is a no from me - did it the first time, not going there again.

ThornyBird · 06/06/2016 22:02

You were supposed to wear pants with them?! Shock

Dh and I were fondly reminiscing after seeing them in New Look. Apparently I wore them a lot when we first got together and he found them challenging Grin

TSSDNCOP · 06/06/2016 22:07

No surely not wearing pants was the point? I'm not surprised you couldn't side slide with all that material.

Hook and eye, Velcro are you kidding me I only ever knew ones with poppers existed.

fastdaytears · 06/06/2016 22:10

Have I been doing body suits wrong?

ThornyBird · 06/06/2016 22:10

I only had popper ones. 2 popper ones were the best after drinking.

I enjoyed the PPs description of head against toilet door fumbling after a pint or 2 many Wink

TSSDNCOP · 06/06/2016 22:13

Fast

Yes.

fastdaytears · 06/06/2016 22:14
Sad
LadyFannyOfOmaha · 06/06/2016 22:15

Me and DH were out shopping one weekday, a woman was walking front of us with her white 'body' flapping outside her jeans, complete with brown skid marks. We still mention it occasionally.
In the same city centre when mobile phones were fairly new, I was out at lunchtime and was walking behind a woman who was loudly shouting her tariff into her phone, £15 for BJ and £35 for full sex.

poorbuthappy · 06/06/2016 22:15

My fav thing to wear to the pictures in the 90s with massive boobs and small waist/hips. All the popcorn would fall down my cleavage and stay there until I took the thing off.

Lolimax · 06/06/2016 22:15

I saw them last week and was instantly taken back to my late teens/early 20's. I won't be repeating the experience but I loved them at the time! Those bloody poppers.

TSSDNCOP · 06/06/2016 22:15

Look on the bright side, you'll be able to achieve the side slide with only the one gusset to push over Grin

poorbuthappy · 06/06/2016 22:17

Or wearing it with a pair of daisy dukes, black tights (40 denier) and green velvet converse.

fastdaytears · 06/06/2016 22:18

TSS thanks but I'm not going down for that. I'm a laydee and have never tried the side slide. I might though...

elQuintoConyo · 06/06/2016 22:19

I fell asleep with my forehead on the door while trying to do the poppers up. Unbeknownst to me it left a red circle the size of a 10p on my head Grin

I also had a black shear bra-body combo, nearly cut me in half, tres chafey. DH couldn't get me out of it quick enough!

Dozer · 06/06/2016 23:03

If the new ones have no gussett poppers surely they're just leotards?
