90s "bodysuits" or "bodies" are back!

They look to be in lots of the shops aimed at youngsters.

Memories of youthful fumblings!

They were so bad for VPL and fanjo health, and yet strangely comfy.

I had one, a tight black V-neck with pearly buttons, I loved so much I wore it until the lycra went side seams split.

How do you pee with no poppers

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 06/06/2016 23:10

I had my first kiss while wearing my favourite pink, low back body with loose fit white jeans and DM shoes with tartan laces.

I remember that day so clearly. Smile

ThornyBird · 06/06/2016 23:12

Sideswipe MrsJayy or wear a tenalady Wink

MrsJayy · 06/06/2016 23:15

I'd pee myself would need to go with tenna Grin I remember a drunk girl in a pub couldn't do up her poppers she shout ed on her pal who opened the toilet door girl fell out face first and landed with her arse in the air

MaisieDotes · 06/06/2016 23:16

God those poppers were total shite too, on my cheapass bodies anyway. They were those white plastic ones that didn't really even pop or click back in properly, so you had to just press them hard and hope for the best.

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 06/06/2016 23:18

Ah, the bodysuit.

My dad would call them a 'bodystocking' which I think are something totally different.

ThornyBird · 06/06/2016 23:18

Am I the only one to have ever poppered a pube? That used to make my eyes water Confused

JedRambosteen · 06/06/2016 23:21

Nope, Thorny. You are amongst friends here.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 06/06/2016 23:24

I have bought one but am yet to feel brave enough to wear it.... it's rather nice, with a blue and white geometric print and a shirt style collar. Much better than the clinging black lycra and low neck of the one I wore in the 90s!

FurryLittleTwerp · 07/06/2016 07:01

I hated the VPL thing so tended to wear them with skirts other than jeans - I had a fantastic lacy one with a thong bottom which was great, although very much evening wear only as it was too lacy for daytime.

ItGoesWithoutSaying · 07/06/2016 09:44

I had some back in the day and am quite tempted again. They were great for getting a good tucked-in look. I wore them with skirts, shorts, etc. I think I can still pull the look off. That's what I tell myself

Never decided on the knickers / no-knickers approach. I think I used to do knickers in the day, no-knickers if I went out in the evening. My memory is hazy, however!

puglife15 · 07/06/2016 09:58

I had some from Tammy Girl and C&A - a chintzy floral one, a pink one and a white one. Used to wear with hot pants and maybe a denim shirt

They were cheap and nasty and the poppers were made of plastic squares which dug in and chafed like Billy-o.

BringMeTea · 07/06/2016 10:43

Lord I had a few. Why? I have a very long torso too so was inevitably stretched to its limits and squishing my boobs flat. Horrid things.

SuperFlyHigh · 07/06/2016 10:49

i got one i think 2 years ago, worn once or twice not since.

I got one from Zara a few months ago see link, great but hard to wear if you're big of boob (28FF) like me. I like it though

tornadedeviande · 07/06/2016 11:12

I had a black stretch lace Vivienne Westwood one which I bought from the Look Again catalogue!

It had a high neck with a horizonal oval cut-out at the top of the chest and, on reflection, was pretty awful.

The only good thing about having bought an expensive yet horrid item of clothing was that the poppers were metal and, as such, were very secure.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 07/06/2016 11:20

oh I adored body suits...5'8" tall, thin as a whip...no spare tyre or unruly midriff, perky (if small) boobs!!

no pants, buy with hook and eyes, or square poppers...always found them much more reliable than normal round ones

tights underneath if you needed them, which also solved the droopy escaping tight gusset issues!

KittyKrap · 07/06/2016 12:01

Sigh, them were the days. On the peeing issue, don't forget our now child ruined body and pelvic floor, sorry, pelvic trampoline, didn't have to cope with weeing every 10 minutes.

I had the lace underwear ones too.

MidnightLullaby · 07/06/2016 19:39

I had a black fishnet one. Loved it.

GirlOutNumbered · 07/06/2016 19:52

I have one in my cupboard, right now! It came out with a pair of skinnies for my 40th birthday dancing. You need to be pantless.

iMogster · 07/06/2016 19:54

Ah yes! I had a perfect slim waist back in the 90s and these showed it off to perfection. I had loads of them, some with cups and underwire, some plain, some strappy, some with sleeves. I am short in the body, so they fitted well, no camel toe. Always wore over knickers. I had my first kiss in a nightclub while wearing one, the guy clearly wanted to fondle under my top, but couldn't get in. Grin

SecretNutellaFix · 07/06/2016 20:00

I had a couple. Oh my God, the bane of my life. My body is v long so the turtle neck one tried to split me in two via my crotch and the lower cut one used to threaten imminent boob spillage.

Fecking nightmare. I was glad to see the back of that trend.

WoodleyPixie · 07/06/2016 20:00

Another one who wore them. I had a lacy one with a Bardot neckline that I wore with velvet high waisted hot pants and opaque tights. Wore out clubbing and not in the day.

Day time bodysuits were with denim shorts and a flowy blouse undone over the top.

All worn with pants though.

AyeMoffTwerk · 07/06/2016 20:12

Ah the hideous hell of ripping open the poppers and taking a handful of pubes along with them. Aaaaaargh!
I too am long of torso and possibly my nether regions had their clefts permanently deepened by the experience.
I will not be bothering with bodies again.
Having said that, it was only today that I was idly wondering if I could arrange some sort of popper attachment twixt vest and knicker to stop the former riding up my stomach. Union suit?

NorbertDentressangle · 07/06/2016 20:14

Oh I had a few of these back in the day.

I also used to lean with my head against the toilet cubicle door trying to do the poppers up after a few too many K ciders.

I can still recall that moment when you'd sit down and feel/hear that "POP POP" sensation/noise as they came undone. You'd then have to carefully stand up and shuffle off to the toilet hoping your flaps weren't hanging out (bodysuit flaps that is!! Grin )

squizita · 07/06/2016 20:14

I have 4. If you buy one that fits and isnt "off thr market" polyester there is NO reason it should give you thrush. Ditto vpl.

They are very useful for clean waist lines and avoiding the back riding up.
