I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it

Today is an Xmas gift from my DM. On paper, it should work. It's a dark and flowery dress - scuba material, and I tend to love anything floral

In reality, it rides up with every step I take and the armholes are funny

It's gone after today!

Anybody else want to join me?

The beauty of it is you can make it up as you go along :)

My jeans today are old favourites, but they're just there to let the top do its thing iyswim...

hippiedays · 23/05/2016 16:20

It is cold here and I'm back in jeans and a Breton style top from H&M. The top is a little big, but my others are all a slimmer fit and sometimes I want (need) baggier tops. I think I will keep it.

CointreauVersial · 23/05/2016 17:23

I'm wearng a Boden jersey dress I bought in a charity shop last autumn - the first time I've worn it.

It's nice! The style is super-flattering on me, and it was comfy to wear. The only problem is I couldn't make it work with a cardigan on top (slightly empire line) but I went without, and it was fine. A keeper.

TobleroneBoo · 23/05/2016 17:25

Good work today team Grin
Equinox it's gone, it's a shame as it is lovely
Ah well, another day tomorrow

I've identified a short electric blue cardi for tomorrow. As I'm very pot bellied I doubt it'll even make it out of the bedroom...

Ememem84 · 23/05/2016 17:51

Tomorrows trial is a purple and orange shift dress. I fear I may look like Velma from scooby doo.

It may have to be banished. But we'll see.

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 23/05/2016 17:53

OK, I'm starting tomorrow. I've picked a grey cotton jumper with a heart-with-arrow-through-it print.

I suspect I'll feel like a poor man's Miranda Sawyer on the Culture Show about four years ago.

Ememem, I can think of worse fashion icons than Velma, TBH.

CointreauVersial · 23/05/2016 17:53

Grin at Velma! As long as you don't have helmet hair and glasses you might get away with it.

drspouse · 23/05/2016 18:02

Went on work trip to London. Arrived early. Went shopping. Lost new Pepperberry jumper. Had to buy new Oasis pink cotton cardigan.
I'll see if I can find a day-off-with-kids suitable dress from the dress section of my wardrobe tomorrow. Probably with leggings.

maggiethemagpie · 23/05/2016 18:04

I have a few things in my wardrobe I've kept in there 'in case I lose weight'. However having lost a lot of weight already I found many of the things I'd kept for this purpose didn't work a few years later (after gaining weight in my pregnancies). Either I'd gone off them, or they were too bobbly, or just didn't feel right. I'm going to try and get better at chucking things out now. It's really difficult to let go though!

Ememem84 · 23/05/2016 18:11

this is the dress in question. I'll probably wear it with a black cardigan. And flats.

I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it
Ememem84 · 23/05/2016 18:11

If I wear it at all.

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 23/05/2016 18:12

I rather like it. I think it says Velma in the very best way.

Detailsoverleaf · 23/05/2016 18:31

The slightly too big shirt dress is staying. The belt works ok with it I think, and I love the fact it's 100% cotton so I've been nice and cool and not sweaty in the hot office all day. I've received two compliments too!

Detailsoverleaf · 23/05/2016 18:38

Oh and tomorrow's outfit is a black and white jersey dress. It's Diane von Furstenberg (bought at an outlet, not full price) and I've been saving it "for best" but never actually getting the chance to wear it, so I'm wearing it to work tomorrow. It's a simple dress so not too fancy for work. It's wasted sitting in my wardrobe unworn!

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 23/05/2016 18:39

You sound like you're on a roll, Details!

ModerateBecomingGoodLater · 23/05/2016 19:41

Today's outfit was a smart striped shirt, blue tank top, wide legged navy linen trousers and grey suede wedges.

The shirt and tank are great. The trousers are frankly baggy. I have them in a smaller size, but I love them. I'm going to keep them but look out for a replacement.

The shoes are a disgrace, and are going in the bin

Tomorrow is an important meeting. I am going to be brave and wear a jacket that hasn't seen the sunlight for 18 months, and some safe grey trousers.

Ememem84 · 23/05/2016 19:42

moderate just how much of a disgrace are the shoes? Are they trashed...? See other thread about selling old slippers on eBay...

TobleroneBoo · 23/05/2016 20:14

Do it, do it!!

OP posts:
EquinoxBloom · 23/05/2016 20:50

I too am wondering about the poor disgraceful shoes...

I have been bad and bought a dress. However I've had my eye on it for ages, I've got one I love in a different colour and it was 25% off.

No buyers remorse for me!

EquinoxBloom · 23/05/2016 20:50

Oh today I also threw away a cream top which a friend gave me yonks ago, I like in theory but it's too small and see through and I've never worn it.

Why oh why was I holding onto it??

FiveShelties · 23/05/2016 21:05

I wore a re silk blouse today which has not been out of the wardrobe for ages - thought it was too small, but fits well. Definitely a keeper.

nicknameused - I sincerely hope that it isn't going to landfill. Can't you take it to a charity shop?

Yes the jumper is going to the charity shop - along with a bag full of other stuff - I hate throwing anything away.

FiveShelties · 23/05/2016 21:10

red not re.

Why do I only notice typos after I post?

drspouse · 23/05/2016 21:38

I have clothes that I've made, but which don't - or no longer - fit/suit.

I feel really conflicted about getting rid of them.

Pepperberry jumper remains lost Sad.

ModerateBecomingGoodLater · 23/05/2016 23:14

The shoes are wedges. The heels are down to the plastic and beyond. I fear they are past repair.
I am usually quite good at maintaining shoes but these slipped through the net in a post partum fog last year.
