I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it

Today is an Xmas gift from my DM. On paper, it should work. It's a dark and flowery dress - scuba material, and I tend to love anything floral

In reality, it rides up with every step I take and the armholes are funny

It's gone after today!

Anybody else want to join me?

drspouse - you're allowed to wear tried-and-tested favourites on holiday!

I'm still steadily working my way through my ginormous wardrobe. Have recently worn:

  • Two short-sleeved knitted tops (orange and pale blue) - both fine for work.
  • Blue and white striped structured top - again, will stay in my wardrobe as a useful work item, although it has a certain polyester content (sorry, drspouse!) so is just starting to bobble. Angry
  • Blue and brown jersey Phase Eight dress - lovely print, great pockets! Useful for both summer or winter.

I am slightly going off my only pair of blue sandals; I only bought them last year, and they are as comfy as slippers, so I can't justify replacing them until next summer unfortunately.

I've been lurking for a while so thought I'd join in properly. Great idea.

Today I'm wearing an old pair of dark flared jeans with a black/white striped top. The jeans are keepers - not the most stylish in the world but comfy and useful. I love the shape of the top but it's starting to look very faded. Think it will have to go

drspouse · 01/07/2016 22:27

Went out tonight and tried on one of the two dresses I brought. Colour just washes me out - too orange/beige for my pale colouring. Shame as the shape/fabric are flattering.
Wore a tunic and trousers instead. The trousers are the wide end of straight so not ideal.

Ememem84 · 03/07/2016 07:53

Whittled out a few other pieces yesterday for eBay/charity shop.

Couple of floaty Aline skirts (make me look too boxy), the above mentioned shirt, pair of trousers, couple of dresses and some jumpers.

londonhols · 03/07/2016 12:57

Denim shirt with poppers is in the charity pile. Poppers and busts don't go!

Everything else I brought on holiday is a keeper and I'm thinking of copying one dress as it's so easy to wear.

Wore a Boden halter neck dress yesterday and my strapless bra was actually comfortable. A tiny bit of colour has run on the pattern but not sure it's worth complaining- it's a year old but has only been washed twice as per washing label.

CointreauVersial · 03/07/2016 15:24

I have a FatFace top that I've hung onto for years because I adore the print and the colours. I tried it on yesterday, but casting a critical eye over it - the shape is all wrong, very old-fashioned, a little bit tight across the back, so it's GOING onto eBay.

I then replaced it with an equally ancient and forgotten White Stuff top, but this one is really pretty, and I have resolved to wear it more often.

Today I am wearing a denim skirt instead of the usual jeans, and a lovely grey teeshirt with a rainbow print. Both keepers.

Ememem84 · 03/07/2016 17:04

Today I'm in skinny jeans from m&s (my new secret jeans place. High waisted. Bit of stretch correct length). And a red & white gingham cotton shirt.

Both keepers. Shirt is ancient but it's my Sunday shirt.

trevortrevorslatterfry · 04/07/2016 10:21

Yesterday I wore an old white stuff (or maybe fat face.. can't remember) tunic top thing. It has been in the cupboard because it's got a deep v neck which I don't normally do. I like it again though - a keeper Grin

CaitAgusMadra · 04/07/2016 16:17

White cotton top. Don't think it's a keeper. In good nick but not very flattering and tight around my upper arms. It's also a bit see through so needs a best underneath which slightly defeats the purpose of a light summer top

CaitAgusMadra · 04/07/2016 16:17

*vest

Deucebumps · 04/07/2016 16:25

Ooh I've just started doing this. Sadly my work 'uniform' is jeans and a sensible t-shirt, as I do a lot of lifting/getting grubby. So most of my nice clothes only get worn at weekends.... It's hard to bring myself to be really brutal when I have so little opportunity to wear things!

CointreauVersial · 04/07/2016 16:29

Cait - my pet peeve is summery tops that need a layer underneath! I recently got rid of a load of linen teeshirts from Zara - I just couldn't get them looking right with a vest underneath, and they were too sheer on their own.

Today I wore a Next ruched wrap dress in russet and black - I actually had a compliment from one of my colleagues! I do need to put a little stitch on the side, where the wrap is a bit loose, though.

Ememem84 · 05/07/2016 07:42

Today's outfit, black Aline skirt and dark green cowl neck Tshirt.

I'm more of a pencil skirt kind of person so will see how the skirt goes.

WhisperingLoudly · 05/07/2016 13:51

Great thread - we're moving soon and I'll be losing my walk in wardrobe (weep) so I've been culling periodically over past month, yesterday I chucked three bin bags of clothes without even bothering to try them on. God knows why I was keeping the stuff Confused

Today I'm slobbing in next harems and a grey striped t-shirt.

Aline skirt is going. It's a right pain in the ass. And makes me look bigger than I am. Stick to pencil skirts.

Green top is nice. Will keep it.

WhisperingLoudly · 05/07/2016 18:58

What on earth did londonhols say on an S&B thread to get deleted Confused

CaitAgusMadra · 05/07/2016 19:11

Old faithful M&S skinnies today with a uniqlo draped t-shirt. Both keepers but I kinda knew that already

CointreauVersial · 05/07/2016 19:12

Probably trying to sell us something.....

Today I wore my black & white Baukjen cropped trousers - they're a bit bright, so I normally wear them with black, but I bravely picked out a hot pink indian cotton top from Monsoon. It looked great, although the top could have done with an iron.

drspouse · 05/07/2016 20:30

I get to go home tomorrow and wear different clothes!

Ememem84 · 05/07/2016 22:39

Tomorrow's outfit. Blue and coral Aztec pattern stretch pencil skirt. White top. Tan ballet flats. And flipflops in bag for lunchtime walk in the sun. Hopefully.

May need some sort of jumper for the office.

FlamingoFling · 06/07/2016 11:17

Name changer here

This is today's outfit: the jeggings are Next and really on their way out but I've put on some weight recently and can't face buying things a size up so will wait.

The top is from promod - first wear. It's a newer version of a top that I wore to death 2 years back but I'm worried this one is a bit boxy.

The necklace is my late grandmothers lapis lazuli beads which I mostly wear for sentimental reasons (and I love their weight and the coolness of the stones) but worry that they date my outfit and me

Shoes are French sole - they don't fit that well, should probably consign to bin.

I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it
CaitAgusMadra · 06/07/2016 14:59

I like the top but I have a serious weakness for slightly slouchy stripe tops. Like the v neck

princessconsuelabannahammock · 06/07/2016 18:54

I have been lurking but need to start this. Todays item is an East top in blues and white, sort of v neck and long sleeves - originally from the charity shop and heading back. Its a bit faded and doesnt really go with anything.

I also have my eye on a hot pink dress that i bought on ebay, but its too low cut now and not really suitable for a sahm as i never go anywhere more glamorous than tesco. It keeps taunting me in the wardrobe, so its going.

Also i bought a tonne of holiday clothes so i need the space. I have a walk in wardrobe that is crammed and i still have nothing to wear!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/07/2016 20:13

I have put a couple of "Oh this old thing" pieces into recycle ( last years T Shirts that I drag out for doing nothing really in)

I have a paisley print top, (I love paisley) very small pattern. It has a background of chocolate brown and black, with small accents of olive, sand and russet.
It drapes nicely, doesn't cling but has a side gather so shaped.
I wore a russet cardi but the top i usually wear with it was in the wash, so I pulled out my old faithful paisley..............and loved it all over again Grin
