I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it

Today is an Xmas gift from my DM. On paper, it should work. It's a dark and flowery dress - scuba material, and I tend to love anything floral

In reality, it rides up with every step I take and the armholes are funny

It's gone after today!

Anybody else want to join me?

Flamingo - you look great - and I love the lapis beads! I'd happily wear them.

I'm wearing a very old skirt today - a style I used to wear all the time; an A-line, flippy, knee-length summery print skirt, worn with a fitted teeshirt. I had loads of skirts like this! I think the look is a little dated but I can't part with this particular skirt, because I love the fit and the print (linen blend, white with orange/brown/black leaf print). It's staying!

I have however decided to part with one item which has only just joined my wardrobe - an orange Boden shirt. It's a lovely colour, but the fabric is the type that a) shows every tiny grease mark and b) needs ironing! I don't do ironing. I have probably spent more time washing and ironing the damned thing than actually wearing it, so it's going back onto eBay from whence it came. CBA!

Thanks Cointreau

I went out for the evening so changed top and shoes - top is an embroidered pompom-ed one from Sienna Miller range at Debenhams. Heels are from next.

I'm posting a pic but would love to see others photos too Smile

Finding this easy at moment as I'm obviously starting with things I like but some of my wardrobe fills me with dread which ought to be a sign really

Today's outfit - blue shift dress from oasis bought from eBay. Proper electric blue. It's fab. If a little on the short side.

Teamed it with a black skinny belt, black flats (although black courts would look amazing and would make my legs look like they go on for ever) and a black 3/4 sleeve jacket.

FlamingoFling · 07/07/2016 07:43

ememem your outfits sound great - fancy sharing some photos?

FlamingoFling · 07/07/2016 08:06

Ok I'm going to post today's outfit in hope someone will follow suit otherwise I'm going to stop Grin

White Zara jeans - same prob as yesterday's jeggings they are not good fit but until I shift some weight I'm not buying any new jeans.

Topshop Navy twist t-shirt. Bought this a few weeks back and love it. Quite keen to buy more in different colours.

Kimono is from promod

Silver addidas superstars

The Mulberry bag and Links silver cuff haven't been used/worn for ages but are keepers.

My hands are not that big in real life! I'll have to find a better way to take the photos

princessconsuelabannahammock · 07/07/2016 20:13

So today i went through my wardrobe and chucked out a size 20 dress (now a 16 yay) still with tags on - was always a bit of the wrong shape and waist ties sat all wrong, was a lovely colour.

Blue paisley dress, too bulky around the hips/waist.

Cerise pink dress, too low cut and workish - sahm

I have also chucked a couple of t shirts that had lost their colour and were frayed or mishapen.

Today i wore my white 7/8 jeans, i love them but they are getting a bit baggy so they are off as soon as i shift the next 1/2 st. i will be keeping the top i wore today for the time being its a blue/white and orange top - my DD said i looked like a cow, shes 4 i think it was a compliment! Its quite baggy but drapey so i am keeping it until i drop a size.

Not mourning the stuff i sent to the charity shop at all, in fact i am emboldened and will be thinning out a bit more.

CointreauVersial · 07/07/2016 22:42

Well done Princess - that's the best reason of all for getting rid of clothes!

I wore another new (to me) item today - a Monsoon dress I bought in a charity shop at the weekend. I got it for £4 because there was a button missing, but when I got home I found a spare sewed to the label inside! It's black and white striped, cap sleeves, knee length, and was just perfect for a warm day of meetings at work.

FlamingoFling · 08/07/2016 08:03

cait thanks for posting. Like the shirt - good choice. I've just started a thread seeing if anyone else is interested in posting outfits so we don't take derail this one.

Some of the posters outfits in here sound lovely and it'd be great to see them.

Ememem84 · 08/07/2016 15:28

Oooh I'm up for posting outfits. Can you link to the thread?

Today's outfit - boring blue skinnies tan flats, purple vest top and black cardigan. Not very exciting. But I'm hungover. So...am having one of those don't care days. Didn't even wash my hair today.

FlamingoFling · 08/07/2016 17:58

Can't do decent links on my phone - this might work: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2680586-Anyone-interested-in-a-what-are-you-wearing-with-photos-thread

Ememem84 · 08/07/2016 22:23

Lovely. It worked. Thanks!

drspouse · 13/07/2016 13:35

No photos here but I'm working through some blouses I've made. Two light silk bias cut ones are keepers though the one I'm thinking of making another one out of lawn is still a little too low cut so another inch on the v bit will help.

drspouse · 14/07/2016 13:19

Still working my way through the blouses. I may not have many more jumpers to wear either... does this mean I can get some more? And I think I have incidentally done all the summer trousers (I don't have many).

Shoes now... have a lovely pair of wedges but afraid to wear them to work in case I have to walk anywhere!

CaitAgusMadra · 15/07/2016 22:52

I've been slowly plugging away but I have a lot of winter or work wear that I won't be able to wear for a couple of months (currently on Mat leave).

Have rediscovered a sheer navy/ white stripe wrap shirt. Previously only worn to work but it's nice with jeans too.

I'm cataloging all my clothes on the Stylebook app as I wear them. I hope to use this to plan outfits for work to save a bit of time in the mornings instead of gazing aimlessly at my wardrobe while getting ever later

Ememem84 · 21/07/2016 20:42

Have been doing really well this week.

Have ditched a green blouse which just looked like surgical scrubs. Unflattering awful.

Today's outfit - black cigarette pants and a previously unworn still with the tags on red sleeveless top. Top is a keeper.

Sold a shirt on eBay too. Yippee.

Ememem84 · 24/07/2016 13:02

Today's outfit- khaki shorts (fat face I think) white cami (oasis) blue cotton shirt (Dorothy Perkins).

And some sort of shoe if I leave the house maybe converse or maybe a pair of flipflops (am giving my havaianas another go - I hate plastic flipflops...) but for the moment just feet.

drspouse · 24/07/2016 20:30

Loose linen long sleeved blouse which I tried over a denim skirt (just weird) and leggings (not tunic-y enough) before settling on some cropped chinos. I have about 3 more long sleeved blouses which are quite light but it's very humid so I may need to go onto the dresses and book in a leg wax.

Ememem84 · 24/07/2016 22:04

Shorts are a keeper. Yay!

drspouse · 25/07/2016 09:59

Yay indeed!
I've taken a risk and bought two pairs of second hand shorts from Ebay, they are a size and brand that usually fits but may be too big.

Another long sleeved loose linen blouse with slightly cropped trousers today. I'm going to struggle tomorrow as I genuinely only have work blouses left and it's my day off tomorrow.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/07/2016 22:45

Today, I took photos on the iPhone of everything in my wardrobe (that's only tops, my trousers/jeans/leggings live in the small bedroom)

Then I can idly wade through them and find new combinations.

I have at least 10 things unworn, some still with tags. Two tops I need to cut the labels out of.
Some I need a different bra for.

I found two near identical TShirts (slightly different neckline) but that's ok.
And I knew I'd bought something from H&M but couldn't for the life of me remember what (sage green button front blouse)

I now know I need a really nice black top to wear under a couple of things.
So .I hope I won't be duplicating things much

drspouse · 01/08/2016 09:10

Two Bravissimo blouses gone - tried them on yesterday morning - just too big for me now. They are white so a little yellowed under the arms so have gone to charity shop.

CaitAgusMadra · 01/08/2016 09:44

I have started trying on all my work wear in prep for returning in September.

Recycle / Charity Shop
2 pairs of Gap trousers - too big and quite dated. Bought on honeymoon in NYC 5 years ago Blush so they don't owe me anything
1 pair of burnt orange Primark cropped trousers as I've never really liked the colour.

Keep
4 skirts - black wool pencil skirt, grey wool knot front skirt, grey straight pencil skirt (that needs to be hemmed), brown pinstripe skirt

1 black short sleeve dress - loose fit but elasticated at the sides so not shapeless. The 'hem' on one sleeve needs to be sewn

I'm aiming to try on 3 to 4 items each morning so it doesn't feel too overwhelming. So far haven't found any trousers I want to keep so I may need to go shopping

70 you should look at using the Stylebook app to help keep track of your clothes. I've been using it for a few weeks now and find it great.
