I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it

Today is an Xmas gift from my DM. On paper, it should work. It's a dark and flowery dress - scuba material, and I tend to love anything floral

In reality, it rides up with every step I take and the armholes are funny

It's gone after today!

Anybody else want to join me?

Can I join in? I've just sorted out my wardrobe and drawers. I've loads of stuff and only wear a small subset of it. I'd like to whittle it down.
I want to wear less of my jeans as I tend to feel scruffy in them and pretty uncomfortable. I also want to wear my mud stained pink trainers less!

Starting today I'm wearing a coral uniqlo cardi, Tesco white tshirt, green uniqlo pull on trousers (I love these).

trevortrevorslatterfry · 14/06/2016 15:38

Hello karcheer your outfit sounds nice and cheerful!

Ememem84 · 14/06/2016 17:54

Today's outfit. Grey pencil skirt (my absolute fave but it's getting a bit tired. Will keep until I can replace with similar). Blue 3/4 sleeve chiffon blouse. Love this.

And either zebra print flats or my new blue wedges. Depending on whether I was running about at work! Hair was also up in a ballerina bun. Never usually do this. But felt like making a bit more of an effort today.

ModerateBecomingGoodLater · 14/06/2016 17:58

I'm not really a shorts person cointreau, but getting back into running might change that. I'll try 3/⁴ length first.

Ememem84 · 14/06/2016 22:26

Trying a proper shirt tomorrow. Pink with pale white stripes and white collar. With a black pencil skirt. Black lk Bennett courts.

Tomorrow is a smart day. For no other reason that I'm getting my eyebrows waxed at lunchtime. And my boss has it in his head that my "appointment" is an interview. I've done nothing to suggest this. Other than tell him I have an appointment.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/06/2016 23:11

I wore a nice long vest top, tiny pleats at the neckline. Wore with a long light cardigan.
Didn't love it but it's 'useful' so I'll keep it.
This is another previously unworn item.
I'm going to whittle through the This Old Thing clothes more strictly so I don't just grab something to do housework in.

Ememem I used to dress up really smart for all day staff meetings and if anyone commented , I said I had an interview (they knew I was lying Grin ).
Our Staff meetings are half day now so I wear my normal uniform.

CointreauVersial · 14/06/2016 23:17

Ha, Ememem - keep him on his toes!

ARichVernacular · 15/06/2016 07:40

Going to a fairly formal meeting today so am wearing plain grey sheath dress with a cream cardigan and silver pointy courts. This dress is so dull, but so useful!

Ememem84 · 15/06/2016 07:49

arich sometimes though you need a useful dress. I have one. Black. Sensible. Useful.

ARichVernacular · 15/06/2016 09:52

Wise words Emem. Plus I got it at a clothes swap, so it didn't cost me anything Grin

drspouse · 15/06/2016 12:19

Ancient but sturdy Wallis double knit monochrome/red t-shirt, via charity shop, keep thinking "do I still like this?" but I do. And it appears to be made from bulletproof fabric. I'm nearly through the first half of the t-shirts/tops.

Yesterday I was in jeans and t-shirt with a rather baggy grey cardigan that was not really that nice but it has a fur collar for the winter so I've shoved it in the "try again in the winter" pile. I have a lot of grey jumpers/cardigans so am in my new Uniqlo cashmere one today and a pair of Gap black trousers. Mmm... grey cashmere sheds a little...

CointreauVersial · 15/06/2016 13:06

Drspouse - you're being very organised, ticking off what you've worn. I'm just picking off items one by one, focussing on things I know I haven't worn for a while. Usually the ones at the back of the drawer!! I'm nowhere near half way, though (I keep buying new stuff or retrieving things from the loft).

Case in point.....today is the first outing for another Boden-via-eBay item. I'm chuffed to bits with this dress - I stalked it for ages on Boden last autumn and pounced when I got an offer code. Two weeks later, I wondered where my parcel was....and I discovered I somehow hadn't completed check-out and it was still in my basket. Of course it was out of stock by then, grrr.....So how happy am I, having spent the princely sum of £3.20 on a brand new and unworn example on eBay? Grin It's jersey, 3/4 sleeves, has pockets....perfect for the office.

Back to old stuff tomorrow!

drspouse · 15/06/2016 13:50

My tops are in a pile and I'm working my way down, skipping the ones I've worn recently! My jumpers on the other hand...

Oh I forgot I am also wearing a pair of red Think! converse-esque shoes that are exactly the same as the pair I had two years ago and wore to death which are also the same as the pair I had four years ago ditto... except the are NOT and they rub my heels something chronic. Suspect I will have to give them up which means I have no non-canvas non-sandal summer shoes.

Karcheer · 15/06/2016 14:53

I have piled all my things in keep in drawers and will work from top to bottom. In my wardrobe I'm going to work from right to left (I've hung everything in groups ie all trousers together, all dresses together).
I need to sort out my shoes at the bottom of my wardrobe as well at some point as I know I've some shoes I should wear but don't.

Today I'd planned to wear a white linen shirt, but it was too hot when I got dressed, so I wore an ivory uniqlo loose fitting tshirt, forest h&m trousers, and peachy pink ballet pumps.
I've been to get my toes painted to now wearing gold flip flops and it poured and got cold, so a brown Ralph Lauren cardi, which tbh has seen better days, I'll keep it as brown is a handy colour for me, but will buy a new brown cardi next time I see one I like.

Karcheer · 16/06/2016 07:42

Today I'm wearing a green boden t shirt, current Elliott skinny blue jeans, brown belt.
It's occurred to me that this is going to get more difficult as I go on, as I'm currently wearing things from the top of the pile, which are what I wear most often :S

drspouse · 16/06/2016 08:53

I'm half way through my t-shirts!
I had worn recently a few on the RHS so I moved on to the LHS. Plain grey Uniqlo t-shirt and mottled Boden blue trousers. I rarely wear a plain top and plain trousers so I panicked but then realised this is why I don't wear my colourful jumpers so I'm also in a variegated thin knit shrug thing I made and a Liberty fabric bead necklace in the same purply pinks, from a craft fair

trevortrevorslatterfry · 16/06/2016 09:26

I am making v slow progress but today I wore the red/coral long sleeved t shirt thing to the office and it does work as I had hoped. Definitely a keeper.

I've a khaki shirt thing which I keep putting off trying. I'm starting to think my reluctance to even put it on means it should go straight to the charity pile!

Karcheer · 16/06/2016 09:32

trevor I've a pair of trousers like that! I need to man up and put them on!

trevortrevorslatterfry · 16/06/2016 10:48

I know! It sounds daft but I need to plan to try it out when there's a time limit for having to wear it.
For instance this weekend I am out all day on Saturday - not doing anything special but I don't want to try it out when there's no chance to change it!
I don't want to spend all day feeling frumpy if it doesn't work out.

First world problems obvs Blush Smile

hippiedays · 16/06/2016 11:55

I'm cold here so am back wearing 'comfortable' jeans and shirt ie not making any effort at all. I've realised I have lots of office style clothes that I don't want to wear as it looks like I'm at work when I'm now a SAHM. I think it looks odd.

drspouse · 16/06/2016 12:51

trevor I just try things on and reject them immediately quite often.

Ememem84 · 16/06/2016 17:43

Bright yellow dress, black jacket with sleeves turned up black patent pointy flats.

Great outfit. All keepsies

CointreauVersial · 16/06/2016 21:10

A hectic morning here, so just went for an item I pretty much knew would be a keeper. An orange and cream spotted Per Una shirt, worn with my trusty black Zara cigarette trousers. It even worked when I changed into jeans after work.

Karcheer · 16/06/2016 21:47

hippie I gave up work nearly 4 years ago, and for a long time most of my wardrobe was unwearable (office wear) and I struggled because I was wearing Saturday wear all week (and didn't have much) plus I felt bad buying anything as I wasn't earning. I found it quite stressful tbh, I sort of lost my identity for a long while.

hippiedays · 16/06/2016 21:53

Karcheer you have hit the nail on the head.

I have the added problem that I am attracted to that particular style as that is what I am so used to buying. For example, I love this dress that I bought recently www.warehouse.co.uk/gb/just-arrived/clothing/tie-front-shirt-dress/026071.html?cgid=new-in-clothing&dwvar_026071_color=30&position=45#page=4&start=45&categoryID=new-in-clothing

It is hanging in my bedroom with the receipt attached to it as I try to convince myself that I can wear it with sandals and it will look nice but my head is telling me to return it as I don't 'need it, it is definitely office wear.
