Err, how did that happen with no one noticing!
It's because we're all on the dark and stormy, sloe gin and prosecco innit.

Sorry for the not v inspired title but I panicked.

That's a very good idea Herbs. How long would class be? One off or a series of meetings?

OP posts:
herbaceous · 24/05/2016 22:21

I was imagining a couple of hours, including break. Will cover the basics of KS1 grammar. Like wot we was never taught.

If successful, I'd do another one!

If very successful, I'll teach myself KS2 grammar and do that too!

motherinferior · 24/05/2016 22:29

Back in BlightySmile

GiddyGiddyGoat · 24/05/2016 22:43

How many in a group approx?
If c 5 / 7 people £30 each? What were you thinking? Rose would have more of a clue than me... but I'd pay at least that (but then I'd know how good you'll be!)

Welcome home MI! Hope it was all good.

herbs Well best to work out the hourly rate you'd want to come away with, and then work out how many people you'd need, paying a modest amount each, costing in expenses like refreshments. I can't really use my classes as a comparison as we don't get paid relative to what the clients are charged...(about 300 squids per couple for a 16 hour course...). I'll pm you my rates. I think it would be a great class and you can advertise on community boards. I think it'll generate a lot of interest. I love grammar having done a lot of linguistics at university.

herbaceous · 24/05/2016 23:14

Thanks all!

Everyone I speak to thinks it's a great idea, so I'm going to do it! Just got to find a venue. Hoping insurance isn't going to be an issue.

bigTillyMint · 25/05/2016 07:10

CV, I have that top in navy! Have already worn it a few times and no one has run away screaming, yetGrin

Herbs, great idea, but one session will only be a starter! My friend is an accomplished Literacy consultant and runs courses for teachers - one session is only long enough to begin to explain some things because they are so far from what we learned at school/what we use in everyday life/most authors use of English, blah, blah, blah... Be prepared to do lots of follow-upsSmile

Physics (DS) and History (DD) here this afternoon.

hattymattie · 25/05/2016 07:25

Good luck to DD and DS BTM.

I, like Herbs was never taught any grammar beyond a verb and a noun. They are doing semi colons at school here - a thing that I have spent my whole life avoiding as I'm never very sure if I'm using it properly and if a comma or a dash will do instead Confused

CV - I considered the Boden ruched t shirt - so will await feedback. I'm not convinced having a wrinkly t shirt will hide my tummy.

Also - I always want to say "runched" not "ruched" - why is that?

Good Luck to your DS3 Ruby.
And I agree, exam-season is draining for the whole family.

Hatty, I was rather hoping the ruching would detract from my tummy!

hattymattie · 25/05/2016 10:43

Have been to the physio for my achilles tendon - he gave me electric shocks like for the athletes - it hurt but apparently it is efficient.

herbaceous · 25/05/2016 11:55

Anyone worrying about my cardi problem can breathe a sigh of relief. I nipped into primark this morning and found a useful round neck, fitted navy number for £6. I then went mental in the face of such bargains and also bought two grey cardis (one with stars), a black v neck cardi, and a white one with anchors on. And a black v neck jumper (£3).

And three striped t-shirts, four vests, a black t shirt and a suede-fronted t-shirt.

So, 15 items which I'm fondly imagining will revitalise my wardrobe. Grand total £70.

Rosebag · 25/05/2016 12:22

Fantastic haul Herbs!

Hatty my physio never did anything painful... Shock. Her exercises and the ultrasound really did the trick though...but it took many months as she said it would!

Welcome back MI !

Best of luck to your exam takers Rudy, Tilly and others. Am about to leave to take poor DD to school for the physics paper. She's full of cold and on her birthday too. Sad Maths tomorrow. It's pants. Utter bloody pants.

Lalsy · 25/05/2016 13:13

Good haul, Herbs.

Umm, crepeys, do I get chucked off the thread if I tell you that I have spent the morning in my new, blissfully comfy, Hotter shoes?

ds' phone is broken which means I have to wait hours to find out how exams went (not that that tells you much anyway).

MI, was it lovely - cocktails, sights, nice lie-downs?

Cremo · 25/05/2016 13:15

Oh mega sympathy to the examees. Wretched isn't it? Poor loves. Called to see dneices yesterday ( one has AS one GCSE) and they both looked hollowed out. Dsis was sustaining them with choc brwonies with rollos baked onto the middle. GrinHmmMmn

I am reeling, as the only
person who is a decent sort and full of sense and knowledge at work is leaving. And this spells doom for us. He's the third person this month to leave. I am very pleased for him- he's got a great new job , but i have lost an ally and compatriot. Sad
The work bully also has it in for me and i am so tired of her. 2 of my team are out on stress because of her.
Knackering.

What is this for Archers?

bigTillyMint · 25/05/2016 13:21

Cremo, I haven't got one of those, just an Angry Bird

Cremo · 25/05/2016 13:33

Am on phone app. It might be diagon alley Harry Potter dodah?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/05/2016 14:49

That emoji or whatever the technical terms is, is the pub sign for The Bull - the village pub in the Archers... I am a long time lurker on the Radio Addicts Archers threads- there are many visitors amusing posters on there...

Good haul indeed Herbs.
Much sympathy and good luck to all offspring wading through exams. Especially miniRosebag - physics on your birthday?? Surely that's illegal (or at least it ought to be!).

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/05/2016 14:50

Very amusing... not 'visitors'...

motherinferior · 25/05/2016 15:08

It was nice, but I would also hate to have that kind of holiday. Am not a Resort Person.

And today I am mainly feeling extremely vague and chaotic. I suppose this is only to be expected. (Have also accrued Rudy's half-stone - if you're looking for it, Rudy, I've got it - which is only to be expected after being fed solidly for four days....today is a vegan low-fat sort of a day!)

Cremo · 25/05/2016 16:19

ah , The Archers! It would have taken me a long time to get to that conclusion! Grin Tee hee.

MI, I know what you mean about resorts. I don't like the lack of independence, and feeling of 'joining in' they engender.you are bound to feel a little discombobulated after the trip. Ease in gently.

Auriga · 25/05/2016 16:21

Welcome back, MI.

Thanks for commiserations re: solicitors, everyone. It was the SRA that suggested the small claims court. They will only take an interest if the firm ignores a judgement against it. Doesn't say much for solicitors' professional standards.

Ridiculously pleased by a small success today - accidentally found a valuable notebook I thought I'd lost. In the car, where I'd already looked Blush and in a gap between the passenger seat and door that has caught me out before Blush Blush in fact my phone has languished there undiscovered for days on end before now. Still, remarkably cheering to be reunited with the book, full of handwritten material which, of course, is not backed up anywhere.

DH just arriving with DD who is finished with History Star

bigTillyMint · 25/05/2016 16:54

The Archers??? Not sure why we need an emoji for them?!

Welcome back MI - glad you had a relaxing (if a bit boring!) time.

Auriga, Glad you have found your notebook. My DD should have finished her History by now (not sure if forever as she doesn't know which AS level she will drop), but she's not replying to my texts.

Just treated DS to a huge hot choc with whipped cream and marshmallows - he wasSmile
