LUSH henna - why has it took me so long to find this fabulous stuff?

God it's amazing. Been using box dyes for ages to cover the greys in my brown hair. My hair was in terrible condition, dry, thinning, breaking off etc.
Tried the reddy brown Lush henna, it's a gorgeous colour, plus has left it really glossy, hasn't been this shiny all over since I was in my 20s.
Did it about 4 weeks ago and the colour and shine is still as good as when I first did it. Will never use a box dye again.
Promise I don't work for them, just needed to share the love!

Thanks!

No, I had white hair here and there but that was all. Not noticeable unless properly looking. Was just mousy brown all over really.

OvO · 07/04/2016 01:23

I keep laughing at that first red haired pic I posted - I look like Cousin It! Well at least I don't look like Uncle Fester I suppose. Grin

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/04/2016 06:51

Checking in this morning just to check out Ovos locks (sorry fell asleep last night 😀). I love it Ovo! That colour is great, I love it!! Did I say that?
Did you have any greys and if so did it cover them ok? I think it looks really striking, well done!

I've bitten the bullet and hennaed this morning
(got a hat on as I need to go out...)
It's over a box dye..
Will report back
It's brun and my box hair is mousey/faded reddish /grey streaks

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 14:23

looks a lovely colour. How do you like it now? Has it darkened further? I have my lush henna on a shelf. Want to do a strand test before I bite the bullet and see how it reacts over my box dye first.

Need to see pictures ididntsignupfor this1

OvO · 07/04/2016 14:33

Thanks folks.

I hate it today. Sad

The photos from last night made it look really reddy and I liked that but when I got up this morning the truth was fully revealed in the daylight, I'm Irn Bru orange. Shock

I'm just praying it really darkens over the next few days. It's so brassy - like nothing you've ever seen in nature.

How are you getting on, ididnt?

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 15:21

Oh no....:( You could go over it with brun if you really hate it. What did you use?
That seriously is my worst nightmare. I have sallow skin and any kind of orangey red would be awful on me. If you have fair skin, I'm sure it doesn't look as bad as you think. Looks really gorgeous in the pictures. Then at night it is deceptive colour wise isn't it?

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 15:23

Can you post a picture of it in the daylight? I am sure it isn't irn bru coloured.

OvO · 07/04/2016 15:31

I used marron.

Of course as soon as I try to take a pic the sun disappears and the day is as grey as you can get! But will try to get a photo really showing the colour.

Dont let me put anyone off! I'm an aberration. Look at how well it's worked for everyone else. I got cocky and put it on for longer than the instructions say so am paying the price. Grin

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 15:49

Marron is meant to be quite a dark colour with reddy bits in it I thought? I was a bit scared anyway because my hair has had box dye in it. I read further back that green was someone's experience. That isn't natural.

OvO · 07/04/2016 16:49

Well I can't get a photo of it being scary orange - don't know if that's my bad camera skills or maybe it's darkened a little since my freak out this morning?

It is pretty orange, not red though.

I think I just needed a bit more time to get used to such a change. Grin

It looks gorgeous...and I am not just saying that :) Totally natural looking. Maybe its just you getting used to it but its really beautiful. Has anyone seen it that you know or are you staying in??? I'm sure they will say the same. Its a stunning colour.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/04/2016 18:03

Like someone says you could go over it in BRUN which will darken it of you really can't get used to it?

Thanks, green. What a really kind post, it's made me feel a bit better about my orangeness.

I've been in all day alone so no one to compliment OR insult me! Grin
I'll see my mum at the weekend and she'll give a 100% honest opinion.

Ido, I'm going to give it until Monday and if still being a wuss about the colour I'll head back to lush. I do feel a bit better about it now though. Am glad you started this thread! Grin

ididntsignupforthis1 · 07/04/2016 18:27

Hmm
I've just washed it
I was out all day
It's was on for 8 hours...
It kept running down the side of my face!
My dd was VERY embarrassed! (22 yo)
It looked like diarrhea on my head.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/04/2016 18:46

Ididntsignup- 8hrs! That is some hennaing!! What does the BRUN look like? Don't forget photos 😀

Ovo- I think it's striking, does it suit your skin tone? Hard to tell as we only have the back of your head 😀 . It looks beautiful though. Perhaps just because it's such a change it'll take a few days getting used to?

They look very different
I will see tomorrow
I was scared I'd go bald with it going on the box dye

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/04/2016 18:52

Ooh is that BRUN? looks lovely, gorgeous colour. Did you have many greys and has it covered them. Is it much different from your usual shade?

OP posts:
ididntsignupforthis1 · 07/04/2016 18:59

Looks redder than my normal colour
I look very cross in that second picture

OvO · 07/04/2016 19:06

Ididnt, that was the look I was going for! Looks fab! I can't believe you managed 8 hours. Shock

Ido, I'm very fair skinned (fair sounds so much nicer than pale!) so now look like the most scotty Scot you've ever seen. I'm a matching set with my fair, naturally ginger DH now. You'll soon see us advertising shortbread! Grin

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 07/04/2016 21:17

Heehee Ovo 😀. Does it look deeper still under electric light? You'll just have to keep the curtains closed at home and not leave the house if you can't get used to it!

Dancergirl · 08/04/2016 10:06

I am definitely going to do it again, I really liked my results.

But what I hated was the stuff running down my back in the shower. Next time I might try applying it kneeling down bending forwards over the bath.

Greengardenpixie · 08/04/2016 10:10

I got this email back. Wanted to know what to do if I was applying henna on grey roots for the first time.

As you know grey hair is always more resistant to colour and a bit harder to completely cover.

There is a way to get a deep coverage with the Henna. Henna works as a tinted varnish that builds up layers of colour on the hair.
To cover grey, you would need to first put a layer of the rouge Henna as a sort of under coat, and then the next day, apply the Brun henna. As your ends are already darker, I would recommend using the rouge just on your roots first. then the brun just on your roots, then brun all over your hair. I know this sounds like a lot of hard work, but it does result in a beautiful colour that protects your hair and gives it shine and body.

We advise customers to wait between 6 to 8 weeks before applying henna to chemically treated, coloured hair and we would also advise performing a strand test first.

Greengardenpixie · 08/04/2016 10:21

Crikey!!! That means I would be doing it 3 times, one day at a time!!!
I don't have the rouge though. Way way too bright!! I have marron and brun. No idea why she said rouge.
