LUSH henna - why has it took me so long to find this fabulous stuff?

God it's amazing. Been using box dyes for ages to cover the greys in my brown hair. My hair was in terrible condition, dry, thinning, breaking off etc.
Tried the reddy brown Lush henna, it's a gorgeous colour, plus has left it really glossy, hasn't been this shiny all over since I was in my 20s.
Did it about 4 weeks ago and the colour and shine is still as good as when I first did it. Will never use a box dye again.
Promise I don't work for them, just needed to share the love!

Do you have before and after pictures?

PinkCrystal · 02/08/2017 14:27

No sorry I hate pictures of myself! Google and Pinterest may be helpful though.

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 02/08/2017 15:47

Is caca brun very red? I have mousy brown hair with a bit lot of grey. Id love a chestnut colour but don't suit red hair very much, too sallow

tralaaa · 03/08/2017 05:39

Very keen does it wash out or grow out

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 03/08/2017 10:37

Right, have marron for base layer and brun. Wish me luck!

Istoletherainbow · 03/08/2017 11:35

Good luck! Before and after pics?.. I'm asking everyone Grin What's your colour now?

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 03/08/2017 11:41

Mousy brown and grey

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 03/08/2017 11:44

So i did 3 bits of caca marron, one bit of brun and 4 tbsp ground coffee. Not covering as it's meant to make it more brown as it oxidises more. Will wash at 3ish

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 03/08/2017 11:49

Oh and i did the kneeling in the shower method with a Pyrex bill in front of me. Not too messy

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 03/08/2017 16:26

Right so I'm a coppery ginger brown with very ginger ex grey bits. I have very pale grey/ blue eyes so I actually really like it Shock

It has definitely lightened my hair as well

Shadow666 · 03/08/2017 16:34

I did it but I really don't like the look it gave me. For some reason it's very blotchy and really bright. I've been doing it for a while now but I still can't get used to it. I want to go back to regular boxed dyes but I'm nervous about what will happen.

AncientRain · 03/08/2017 16:41

I did mine this morning after reading this thread!
It felt like straw when I rinsed it off and took ages to get it all out
I just went for brun for my first attempt

That last picture is amazing! What colour did you use, AncientRain?

AncientRain · 03/08/2017 17:39

Brun
Half a block and left on for 3 hours. I walked around with a hat over the cling film and even visited a friend

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 04/08/2017 12:37

By 11am my greys were orange. Now have the rest of my caca brun with a bit of apple cider vinegar on my hair, its meant to help cover greys

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 04/08/2017 12:37

Oh and believe them when they day the colour changes over 24 hours!

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 06/08/2017 14:22

So after letting it develop for 48 hours it's darker. Still a little more ginger on the grey bits but it's nice!

I just love that LUSH henna. And I love the smell too. And the polished-wood shine. I've got a block of it, just need to find a time to do it.

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 06/08/2017 14:32

Pink the OPs method works well. Bowl of warn runny henna in shower. Apply then rinse self and everything down

BadlyParkedRangeRover · 06/08/2017 15:25

I'm a bit worried about what happens when all my grey comes through. Do i just do the same again? Will I have obvious demarcation? Does anyone just do a root top up?

neveradullmoment99 · 06/08/2017 16:26

I do a root touch up. Much quicker. You just do the same procedure. Use less and just apply to the roots.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/08/2017 16:27

I also use the loreal root cover up that you spray on inbetween dying it.

Delurking to say that this thread inspired me to try henna when it was first started. I had previously had my hair dyed at a salon. My natural colour is a very dull mousy brown with lots of greys. I have extremely fine hair (and not very much of it). I LOVE the colour that henna gives me (I use Lush marron mixed with brun), but even better is the improvement in the condition of the hair. My hairdresser agrees.

But my word, the mess! (I'm slightly dyspraxic which doesn't help.)

Also I have found that the Lush stuff has the potential to block drains, due to the high cocoa butter content. I now rinse it out over a big flexi-bucket in the bath, and pour the resulting sludge down the toilet.
