I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

BeautifulMaudOHara · 11/03/2016 11:04

I need to get a grip and I think posting here might help me!

I need to lose some weight, concentrate on personal grooming and give myself a makeover, generally. I want to look and feel better and up my look at work.

Is anyone else interested in joining me?

My aims and ideas are (yours may be different):

Get my teeth bleached
Find out whether to (or how to) deal with my fairly new moustache FOR EVER
Ditto chin hairs
Sort out my fungal toenail
Get a new work wardrobe at some point
Get my nails gelled and keep them maintained
Give up sugar and carbs
Sleep enough, drink slightly less
Be happy!

I am generally, but I do need to look less like a hag, I have let myself go a bit and it's got to stop. Anyone else in?

I don't use sunscreen, I use l'avenue day moisturiser with 25 spf. There is a 50 one too. Make up over the top. Don't forget necks and décolletage:)

Right day 1 diet today. This thread is inspiring me to get cracking on it. I got weighed this morning and have 11lbs to lose. My target is 6 weeks. Recently I seem to have been able to lose 4/5lbs and then stagnate, get bored and put it all back on, but this time I need to be more focused. Am going to try My Fitness Pal and a 1200 limit and see how I go.

I am also due to finish my 30 day sit up challenge today (after letting a few days slip this week) and am going to start 2 new challenges to help me tone up.

I have my water ready at my desk to make sure I am drinking plenty.

itsmeagain1 · 21/03/2016 10:56

This is what we are calling the "Duncan" diet

www.jaduncan.com/2006/04/how-i-lost-stone-in-week.html

I wouldn't watch the youtube link, the guy in that is taking the piss and doesn't eat half enough when following the diet. The thing is that when its salad and veg etc, its unlimited, same with fruit.
Its a lot of grapefruit, tomatoes, fruit and veg, eggs and meat.
It's easy (I think) as not much prep. I had toast with some grilled tomatoes for breakfast, not the worst - and have a ton of fruit with me in work for lunchtime. Dinner is eggs, salad and grapefruit so I'll probably do a big bowl of spinach, tomato, cucumber, etc chopped up boiled eggs, and a red grapefruit for dessert!

itsmeagain1 · 21/03/2016 11:03

Weighed this morning, was ashamed by the figure that came up, am heaviest I've ever been. Sad
Two pints of water down, and dug out some of my good anti aging products that I keep forgetting to use, applied last night and this morning and want to remember to do that daily..

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 21/03/2016 11:09

I started 5:2 this morning. Today I have consumed one cup of herbal tea so far. I'm saving up my 500 calories to have a proper dinner when I get home. I didn't weigh myself this morning because I was too scared! Will weigh tomorrow. I'm going away for the long Easter weekend so I thought if I fasted today and Wed, then go away Thurs-Mon, there will be less damage done overall. I looked at that Lose-A-Stone-In-A-Week diet and it did sound good, but I can't do it this week because of going away at the weekend.

Did a trampolining class yesterday and I ache all over! My elbows are grazed and my shoulders ache from landing roughly. It was great fun and much harder than I thought it would be, so good exercise too.

Apart from that I'm not making a massive amount of progress on beautifying myself. I've run out of money until payday, which annoyingly is not until after Easter. Once I get paid I need some tweezers, or to get my eyebrows done. or to find a pair of existing tweezers, seeing as there must be at least 3 pairs somewhere in the house

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/03/2016 13:19

I googled James Duncan diet last night, for me its just not workable as I don't eat bread or fruit! I like it, but it doesn't like me....I've been loosely sticking to 1000 cals a day plus unlimited veg but I've had a few splurges like yesterday so I'll see how the scales look on weds at slimming world!

littleleftie · 21/03/2016 14:32

Well I have managed to put back on 2lbs when I have still been really strict on my diet. Extremely miffed!

In other news, tinted eyebrows but am slightly disappointed with results. Thought they might be darker , and I left the tint on for way beyond the max time limit.

Bought scratchy gloves to use in shower and some calcot manor scrub, but that's a bit shit. I have ordered one I have used before from Avon which was fab.

Have remembered to do nails and moisturise everything and I have stopped breaking out in spots. I think my skin was just in shock from all the attention.

I have been wearing more bracelets and rings than usual which makes me feel more feminine. I should probably get new glasses though but just can't afford it at the moment.

Dentist next week!

LazyCake · 21/03/2016 14:53

Used my Footners last night, and got my brows threaded today. Was going to check out a new yoga class tonight, but am now rather concerned my feet might suddenly start shedding! (It usually takes a week, right...?)

Diet has been appalling. I'm frightened to weigh myself. Need to get a grip.

Somanyillustrations · 21/03/2016 15:38

Well I fell off the wagon this weekend, stuffed my face, drank too much wine and no water.

On the plus side, I have knocked it on the head today, and have been inputting into myfitnesspal to stay on track. Bootcamp class tonight, and healthy dinner after. Drank plenty of water today, and no coffee so far, but getting a bit headachey, so will have one soon.

Feet are starting to fall apart after footner, but nice skin underneath. Need to redo nail varnish on toes tonight.

Have been pretty good with face skin care, but less so with body. It's just too cold to put body lotion on after a shower!

I have used 2 crest whitestrips now, and my fairly dingy teeth are certainly looking brighter. Haven't had any sensitivity yet either.

Am off skiing on Saturday, and will undoubtedly undo all my good work with lots of booze and cheese, as well as wind and sun on the face. The good news is that DD's passport has been printed today, and should be with us on Wednesday! Cutting it a bit fine, but should be ok!

littleleftie · 21/03/2016 15:47

Glad you got the PP issue sorted!!

I have ordered the footner and am very excited. My feet aren't too bad to be honest but they could be softer.

Where do you get your Crest Strips from?

Crazypetlady · 21/03/2016 16:23

BeautifulMaudOHara · 21/03/2016 18:43

Hello everyone. I definitely look better for this. No wine last night, although I did drink with lunch so it wasn't an alcohol free day.

littleleftie · 21/03/2016 18:57

Thanks - I have ordered them, but couldn't make the discount voucher work Sad Will let you know how I get on. I am a bit worried they will be too much for my receded gums and sensitive teeth but if so I am sure DD18 will be very glad of them!!

Welcome crazypet if you are on a budget have you trawled through all your existing stuff to see what's what? I found loads of moisturiser and other stuff I have had for ages and just never used.

Same with clothes - once I lose weight I have loads of clothes I can wear that people won't have seen me in for years, so all I will have to do is buy a few thigs tp update the look.

Home dye for hair doesn't cost too much. I home dyed mine for years, as long as you are careful not to get it on anything important it should be fine. I found Nice N Easy very good and easy to apply with a wide range of colours. Never had a bad experience with them.

Drinking water and getting more sleep don't cost anything. Good luck!

Stellar67 · 21/03/2016 20:14

Hello all,
I've read the thread and this is what I am channelling at the moment.

My main aims are

Lose weight
Exercise - do we have a Fitbit group?
Looking after my skin.

My skin is terrible. I am useless at sorting out a regime. Have picked up some tips here so off to have stake through my stuff.

AuldYow · 21/03/2016 20:31

Love this thread Grin

I've ignored my self imposed 'step away from the scales' but I did lose 2lbs last week, I am so pleased, another 4lbs to go then I'm at my target weight. It's always the last pesky bit which is hard to shift.

Still no alcohol, no bread or obvious sugar (I'm ignoring the cake on Sunday), I'm actually really enjoying it and my skin looks loads better, plus my stomach is no longer bloated and no more trapped or free flowing wind I'm also getting up to about 7/8 of my 5 a day which can only be good for me.

Yesterday I downloaded a 4 minute fat burning app which I'm going to do every morning and night, I figure if I can't find 4 minutes I may as well give up. My waist has come back and love handles are getting smaller so clothes are looking much better.

I know I'm making positive changes which in turn is confidence building so I'm standing taller and looking better.

ohforfoxsake · 21/03/2016 20:45

I'm low carbing and enjoying it. Made a curry tonight and had it with cauli rice. It was lovely. I'm having a carb breakfast (I find I get very cold and tired when I have no carbs) then protein and leafy veg. Eating a lot of fish and drinking at least 2 Ltrs of water - can really see the difference in my skin.

Saying that, I spent last Friday daytime lying on the sofa, stuffing myself with refined carbs, feeling very low and exhausted. Gave myself a boot up the backside and back on it Saturday morning! Smile

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/03/2016 21:01

auld what was the app you used please? I agree, I must be able to find four minutes.
On a separate note, The plumber with the exceptionally white teeth came again today, they had been chemically whitened by the dentist at a cost of 1000 pounds. They were so white, they were almost blue. I'm thinking you need the Hollywood face and body to pull off Hollywood teeth (he had neither, he had a dudley accent and a dynorod jacket).

JemimaMuddledUp · 21/03/2016 21:28

Today's positives: lost 2lbs this week (total loss 20lbs since January) and did 15k steps.

I did eat 2 chocolate biscuits in work during a deathly boring meeting though.

Picked up some more of my Next directory sale purchases from store on the way home from work. Am looking for the elusive perfect work trousers so have ordered pretty much every pair that went in the sale! Lots of trying on and sending back to follow.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 21/03/2016 21:31

YES I want to join! I used to be extremely gorgeous (sorry for boasting but I was) but then I met my DH and had four kids in four years. My body is horrible now and it was so sudden I feel a bit desperate. I am a size 12 and 5'10" but used to be an eight and I used to be ultra toned whereas now I am a flabby mess!!! SadSad

my DH wanted me to pick up a swimsuit yesterday do we could all go swimming together but I CAN'T!! He tells me I have a beautiful body but we sleep in separate rooms now because I can't stand how I am.Sad

PaulineFowlersGrowler · 21/03/2016 22:06

Count me in please! Having a bit of an identity crisis at the mo, used to be quite hot and sure of myself but now 4 kids later I just want the ground to swallow me up. I'm only 31 but I feel like I'm out to pasture already. Day in, day out I'm wearing skinny jeans, t shirt and trainers. I used to have an amazing wardrobe of vintage clothes, wtf happened? Now I dress like a teenage boy.

My goals are:
*eat less shit
*drink less coffee, more water
*try to exercise every day
*tame my unruly curls
*learn how to apply make up PROPERLY (I've been wearing it the same since I was 14)
*develop my personal style.

lastgirl I know how you feel, I haven't been swimming since I had my twins. Even though I am slim-ish, my tummy looks like an old mans scrotum and my tits have withered away.

I'm typing this on my phone, in the bath. Mammoth hair removal, exfoliation sesh going on. Then I'm going to practise fake tanning my legs because my fake tan always looks crap on my legs. hopefully by the time it's warm enough to get em out I should have mastered it.

AuldYow · 21/03/2016 22:26

thenewaveragebear1983 it's called Quick4 on iPhone but I'm sure there's an android version. It's a quick 20 seconds of running on the spot, burpees, jumping jacks etc with 10 seconds rest in between. I did it tonight whilst I was waiting for the bath to run Wink

PaulineFowlersGrowler · 21/03/2016 22:38

Auld thanks for discovering that app, I've been really struggling to fit any exercise in most days, but I'm sure I can spare 4 minutes!

PaulineFowlersGrowler · 21/03/2016 22:51

Ooh ooh I'm so excited! Inspired by all of your walking efforts, I've just bought myself a Fitbit zip with my clubcard points. I can't wait to see how many steps I actually do running around after the kids all day.

TheFear · 22/03/2016 07:39

Did a facial last night, skin nice and soft today and a bit fresher. Exfoliated in shower this morning.
Three litres of water yesterday. Duncan diet, lost a kilo in one day..
Sad how proud of myself I am!
