I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

I need to get a grip and I think posting here might help me!

I need to lose some weight, concentrate on personal grooming and give myself a makeover, generally. I want to look and feel better and up my look at work.

Is anyone else interested in joining me?

My aims and ideas are (yours may be different):

Get my teeth bleached
Find out whether to (or how to) deal with my fairly new moustache FOR EVER
Ditto chin hairs
Sort out my fungal toenail
Get a new work wardrobe at some point
Get my nails gelled and keep them maintained
Give up sugar and carbs
Sleep enough, drink slightly less
Be happy!

I am generally, but I do need to look less like a hag, I have let myself go a bit and it's got to stop. Anyone else in?

princess thread did make me think of a good tip- castor oil on your eyelashes- especially if you already have some at home :). it did improve mine, but I stopped using it.

Marking place.
TurnOff I have seen those princessing threads on here over the years and never understood it.

But duh , of course, it's about setting a date to aim for. I did it for my wedding (didn't we all) and felt great when everything came together- hair, nails, teeth, weight, clothes.

I'm going to set a date (1st June is significant to me) and aim to start stick to new habits.

My goals are to

  • increase the amount of plain water I drink
  • in bed by 10.00pm each night
  • maintain manicure
  • exercise every day (don't have the discipline for every second day...all or nothing girl here)
  • increase fruit and veg daily intake
  • weekly personal care session

I'd like to join in though I have form for being flakey on threads like these - I find them hard to keep up with. But I definitely need it.

Get hair cut every 2 months.
Lose the stone I've recently gained.
Keep nails/toenails decent.
Bed by 10, no phone.
Cut out snacking.
Pilates daily; keep up the running.

There's probably more. I have flu right now so can't be in until I'm better.

Ooh at the "what would SHE do?" - that's a great idea, a kind of virtual kick up the arse mentor! What is her name?

I think we should have her as our role model: "what would Xxx do?"

I've just been out for a boozy lunch with Dh, it was fab Smile

[HilarysMantelpiece] I'm the same with exercise, and I think I'll need to be an every day lady myself. The day off after an episode of virtuous healthy exercise turns into a week, a month, a quarter-year - no more!

Does anyone have a nice manicure without getting their nails done properly by a trained expert? I don't have the budget for getting my nails done, but I like the look of unchipped polish. Unfortunately I think my lifestyle just doesn't allow for nicely maintained fingernails Sad

I bought a bottle each of Essie base coat and top coat last weekend, and used precious free time to use it with two coats of Rimmel 60 second varnish. The very next day it was all chipped and peeling, mostly I think because getting so soaked during dc's bathtime. Is gel or acrylic the only answer here? Or bare nails?

She's famous so I'm not naming, otherwise I'll feel even more silly!

Also she's not everyone's cup of tea and I'm sure everyone has a person they'd prefer (I hate the phrase girl crush but that kind of thing!)

YYY to Oliver Bonas earrings.

I have a very large and horrid birthday this year, and I'm far too fat and need to loose at least 3 stone. I do have quite a lot of nice clothes, but they are size 10 and I am a good full up 14. Last weekend I took all of them out of the wardrobe and though about how nice it would be to wear all those lovely Coast, Toast and Whistles things, but I really lack motivation to loose the weight. I have also never had nice nails, probably due to being allergic to most nail varnish. Count me in, I will soon be too old and decrepit to benefit!

I need to join you if that's ok? I did really well last year but this year it's all gone Pete Tong we won't mention the packet of chocolate fingers I ate earlier

I only need to lose about half a stone but I've just lost it recently, which is causing a can't be arsed style rut. I love the idea of the alter ego of who I want to be giving me a kick up the bum. And 'she' has inspired me to make a batch of soup for the weekend my idea is I'll eat that instead of a packet of biscuits!

Looking at the positives, I get my hair cut every 6 weeks and my hairdresser is fab, eyebrows threaded every other week, I stopped crossing my legs last year as I felt it was making my varicous (sp?) veins worse sexy bird me it worked though and they are definitely less noticeable, I also only drink herbal teas and wine and plenty of water.

Aims are -
to ignore the scales for the rest of the month
Take everything out of my wardrobe and charity shop the 'boring' stuff which is bringing me down
Ignore any obvious sugar, so no biscuits, cakes etc
Home pedicure and manicure once a week
Face mask once a week
Remember that brilliant phrase 'tomorrow is another day' so if I fall of the bandwagon I'll draw a line and start again the next day.

I'll reassess these on the 1st April & see how I'm getting on.

I'd love to do this, but where do you find the time and energy? After work, children and chores I'm too tired for anything. Plus I'd never see my DP and whilst I could do nail-painting when he's there I draw the line at dealing with my chin hairs!

Next week I plan to attempt running one lunch time a week at work. And when I say running, I mean everso slightly faster than walking.

lentil go for bare nails if polish chips due to being in water. Keep them fairly short, nicely filed and rub in nail oil (or baby oil etc) to make them shiny. Or wear rubber gloves for bathtime!

Oooh this is a good thread.

I've given up smoking Wink (smug face) but have realised that it must have been what was keeping me thin as now i'm starving all the time and have piled on half a stone in a month :(

I need to:

  • make a dentist appointment - was too embarrassed to go when i smoked
  • cut way down on the milky lattes (3-4 a day currently)
  • get off my arse and do some exercise

I already have a weekly blowdry, get my eyebrows done and have regular hair cut and colour which all help i think.

I am utterly broke and scruffy and have realised that I have been wasting my time trying to be stuff I'm not. So I'm going to embrace my own actual, realistic, achievable style that suits me and isn't based on fashion.

For me, this is:

Eyebrows threaded every month.

Continue growing out fringe, and then get it cut much shorter, in order to

Revert to my natural hair colour.

Carry on with my super-duper exercising regime, eat healthily, get enough sleep, drink lots of water, give up booze, sugar etc and get into fabulous shape.

Buy good shoes and bag. Continue with minuscule capsule wardrobe consisting only of things I love while losing weight. Don't buy anything expensive until I am debt-free, but spend the time trying stuff on until I know exactly what works for me.

Keep fingernails short, clean, unvarnished and with well-maintained cuticles.

Also (and I realise this isn't really a style and beauty thing) read more good books and newspapers.

Hello, I have been thinking exactly the same recently.

My goals are:

  • Continue to maintain hair cut every 6 weeks
  • Decide whether to colour my hair or go grey disgracefully
  • Get eyebrows done (never had them done professionally)
  • Professional manicure. Got a special event coming up, so want them done for that. Might continue to have them done
  • Exercise class 2x per week
  • Walk more (proper rambling in the countryside walking)
  • Lose weight
  • Make up lesson (never really had a clue)
  • Save up for personal stylist/personal shopper trip

I'll be following this with interest! My goals for march are:
Get a proper bra fitting and a decent couple of bras (I have just recycled 35 bras in sizes 32A up to 36E, and I actually do not have a clue what size I am post preg and bf)
Lose enough weight to tip me Down into the dress size below (prob 7lb will do it)
Stat doing some exercise, and re-read the tuplar book (was mentioned on here a few days ago about getting rid of mummy tummy)
Spend some time on myself. I have 3 DC aged 12, 3, and 5 months and I just barely seem to drag a brush through my hair or brush my teeth some days. I've decided that 20 mins a day might be a good starting point, so when baby has his morning nap I've been doing a face scrub or plucking my eyebrows. It takes a lot of willpower to think I won't do the dishes I'll do that instead but I am actually starting to feel less like wurzil gummage!
Finally, inspired by another thread on here, I'm going to book a personal shopper when I get that 7lb off. I sold ALL my crap clothes on eBay (inspired by ANOTHER thread on here about Marie kondo) so I've got about 300 pounds to spend so I might treat myself soon...
That's a lot for march!

Count me in! It's not as if I don't have all the lotions and potions, I just can't be arsed to use them.

My personal grooming is shocking so I need to sort that out.

I will use this weekend to get a head start by sorting out my wardrobe and beauty stuff and come Monday I will make a commitment to shower every day, do a weekly manicure and a monthly pedicure. It's not like I don't wash but I find a shower a real faff for some reason.

I need to declutter the crap out of my wardrobe and buy some casual stuff, my hoodies and stuff are minging.

Has anyone got any good ideas for stylish stuff to wear when we're just hanging around the house? I'm nearly at the dog walking fleece stage.

I also need a pair of jeans so I can feel stylish and lovely. Urgently.

I love the idea of what would xxx do, so much so I'm pinching it!

I'm in!

I divorced two years ago and have been trying to rediscover the real me (which had got lost beneath children, home and bad relationship).

I have made some good progress in the last year with weight loss, hair, skin and clothes but I need a final push as I really want to look attractive and a year ago I didn't have the confidence to really go for it. It's not all about looks I've been going out more and rediscovering old interests too.

I would like to:

lose another half stone
eat 5 fruit/veg per day
add to my rather minimal make-up
continue to use Lush Henna on my hair regularly
wear more adventurous clothes
feel confident and secure enough to try dating
use some subtle fake tan and shave legs at least weekly
10000 steps per day (have fitbit but haven't been so good through winter)
maybe go to the dentist (I'm phobic too)
haircut 3 monthly

I will probably edit this or add some more later. I should also add that I'm on a tight budget too as trying to rebuild my work life after many years as a SAHM so I need to choose clothes, toiletries, make-up etc very carefully for maximum bang for my buck.

I have a birthday in about three months so I would like to see significant progress by then.

Please can I join too? I have got much better recently at looking after my skin and keep my nails neat and polished, but need to drink more water and eat healthier. I've just attended a house of colour analysis and style class so now know what to but from now on to suit me, highly recommend! I'm also in the process of growing out highlights. I've not had it dyed since May and so have nice, glossy hair down to my chin then rather dry blonde ends down past my shoulders. Need to bite the bullet and get it chopped off but fear it will feel too short!! X

Pavonia I'm interested in the Lush henna, I've let my red hair go back natural this year (from a darker red shade) but I keep thinking it needs warming up a bit- is it an utter ball ache to do?

I'll join you lot if you don't mind.

First thing is defuzzing all my bits : I haven't removed any body hair since November!

Fake tan after deforestation.

Already trying to lose weight : low carb, low sugar, high veg and protein.

Clothes will fit properly once I lose those pesky ten pounds!

Loads of water but I always do.

Nails, meh. I get a regular pedicure and just keep my fingernails short. Congrats to all those who have lost weight, especially Darcy Flowers It's not easy!

Fwiw cutting out sugar really improves my skin, it sneaks back on and I look older and feel sluggish. Well worth the two day crash.
