I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

I need to get a grip and I think posting here might help me!

I need to lose some weight, concentrate on personal grooming and give myself a makeover, generally. I want to look and feel better and up my look at work.

Is anyone else interested in joining me?

My aims and ideas are (yours may be different):

Get my teeth bleached
Find out whether to (or how to) deal with my fairly new moustache FOR EVER
Ditto chin hairs
Sort out my fungal toenail
Get a new work wardrobe at some point
Get my nails gelled and keep them maintained
Give up sugar and carbs
Sleep enough, drink slightly less
Be happy!

I am generally, but I do need to look less like a hag, I have let myself go a bit and it's got to stop. Anyone else in?

Pauline you probably do quite a few steps if you are at him with the DC all day. I used to do far more when I was with the DC than now I'm in an office job. So much harder to get steps in now.

JemimaMuddledUp · 22/03/2016 08:11

*home. Stupid phone!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/03/2016 09:30

Pauline fowler I'm amazed at how many I'm clocking up at home with the kids because I really thought I was barely doing anything. Over 9000 each day and that's without doing any formal exercise. Just walked ds to nursery and I'm already at 4500!

HairsprayQueen · 22/03/2016 10:26

Urgh I never get many steps in without trying- I live really close to school and I'm studying just now so seem to be at my desk too much.

Although having said that, even one day when I went to Lakeside and trundled around there all day (with really achy feet at the end) I only got to 11000. That doesn't seem fair! (I only reached on average 20k a day in Disneyland too).

Maybe my stride length thing was wrong.

ohforfoxsake · 22/03/2016 10:29

4 pounds of bloat off since Saturday and just back from a really good spin class. I have a date this weekend so going to get glossy and swishy. Smile

TheFear · 22/03/2016 11:08

Grin at glossy and swishy.
I wish!

StarChaser99 · 22/03/2016 11:47

Well I am proud of myself today. I forced myself to do my final day of the sit up challenge last night, even after a knackering day at work and a hour of ironing. This morning, even though it's my day off with DD (and so usually just throw on whatever is clean) I put on a nice floaty dress and I feel much more confident even though have just played in the lounge and nipped to the shop. Also had a pint of water this morning rather than my usual sugary drink. Tonight I need to do my nails and start my next 30 day exercise challenge and keep up my diet.
My cleansing/toning/moisturising routine is also starting to become a habit now so am finding that much easier to do.

Hi all, been lurking and this thread has been so inspiring. Would like to join you all.
Im mid 30s look youngish due to genes but have 4-5 stone to lose. I have a gym membership and when being good go 5 times a week, i like the break from my kids, as also a fulltime carer, haven't been gym in 5 weeks, before at least i was big but toned, now just a sluggish mess

Skincare is coming together as ive been lurking in the asian beauty threads and will hopefully stick to my new routines, using an acid daily and following a 5- 7 step skincare plan depending on the day, skin looks better after two weeks but gotta sort dark marks with a strong peel

Gotta work on diet next but im a vegetarian who doesnt eat eggs or milk, do eat veg cheese though, love pizza and loads of bread, breakfast cereal and chips, love chocolate and always conveniently forget it contains milk, stupid when i spend a fortune on almond milk, any tips please

Also kondoing, love my wardrobe but cant fit into most of it but not getting rid as its nice pieces

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 22/03/2016 14:12

I fasted successfully yesterday - hurray! Must not blow it today, though.

In beautifying terms, I am wearing earrings! And I'm using hand cream even though I hate the feeling of it when you wash your hands.

Can't help you much there Mel, lots of candles? I find remembering to moisturise (Clinique Moisture Surge) shows some difference in a couple if weeks. Or invest in a lot of candles. Grin

A PP mentioned tinting their own eye brows. Anyone done this? Would it be worth a go for a sleep deprived novice or will I end up with a bad Scouse brow as modelled by the scary girls in KFC.

Marzipants · 22/03/2016 19:05

Made shit joke twice in one post. That's how sleep deprived I am, I'm going to end up like Bert and Ernie.

ohforfoxsake · 22/03/2016 20:11

Spiralised courgettes are surprisingly good! Grin

StarChaser99 · 22/03/2016 20:34

ohforfoxsake I agree - I am a big fan of the Spiraliser - still not a patch on pasta, but a pretty good low cal substitute.

HairsprayQueen · 22/03/2016 21:50

I think as time goes on I prefer courgette to pasta. So why do I make the wrong choice so often?! This is what really pisses me off about myself, I seem to choose badly for the sake of it!

On a more positive note, my skin is feeling loads better this week, I've really simplified my evening routine and my skin seems to like it.

I've also found my holy grail foundation (for now at least, until my skin decides to take against it!). I'm so in love with it Smile

Everything is non hairy and smooth, my nails are rarely chipped and my hair is either straightened properly or in a neat low bun- not straggling around everywhere.

Progress is happening!

Marzipants · 22/03/2016 22:20

Hmm. Thanks Mel, I'm normally blondish mousey grey, so maybe I'll swerve the home tinted eyebrows. Humbug, I was hoping for a lift that didn't require will power! Grin

ohforfoxsake · 22/03/2016 22:49

To really surprised me. Is celeriac low carb? Got some in my box this week.

Off to get de-furred, eyebrows and lashes done tomorrow. I have semi-perm lash extensions and I really can't recommend them enough to make you feel glam without make up. Absolute game changer for me.

HairsprayQueen · 22/03/2016 23:01

ohfor yes celeriac is a good potato sub when low carbing- I usually have it mashed or roasted.

PaulineFowlersGrowler · 22/03/2016 23:40

Not a great day, DS has autism and he has been pretty full on after school, so comfort ate junk and mainlined coffee.

On a positive note:
*Did quick4 workout
*removed chipped mani (ok, chewed it off, does that count?)
*previously applied fake tan on legs doesn't look too bad, even if I do have curiously tanned ankles peeking out of my jeans now, while the rest of me maintains my deathly pallor.
*sleeping with a deep conditioner on my hair.

LazyCake · 23/03/2016 00:06

I have been wondering the same about forehead wrinkles, Melbournemel. I have heard it said that they are some of the easiest wrinkles to soften/reduce, but the sceptic in me thinks that, if that were true, why on earth would so many people get botox? Anyway, apparently they respond very well to massage/facial exercises/facial yoga etc. Haven't yet got round to trying this, so don't know if it's true - here's hoping...!!

Pauline, your post has reminded me to put on my hair oil before lights out!

realhousewife23 · 23/03/2016 04:30

Just been catching up with everyone's updates! So I"m doing full on low carbing this week to try and really jump start some weight loss and have also started the C25K program on the treadmill (so I've been over on the diet and exercise boards). Really determined to try and improve fitness levels.

My nails are looking absolutely fabulous, thanks to an OPI Nail Strengthener I've been using. They were all thing and splitting after a few gel manicures but they're really hard now and growing so well. Really recommend it.

Hrafnkel · 23/03/2016 04:44

Marking place to catch up later.

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/03/2016 07:13

13k steps yesterday, this week is going well!

We are running an office weight loss challenge in work. It started in January, and finishes tomorrow. Everyone put £10 in at the start and the person who has lost the most weight (in terms of % of total weight rather than lbs to make it fair whatever size you are) takes the money. been in the lead for the past few weeks so I am really hopeful that tomorrow I will have some extra clothes shopping money! Just concentrating on not blowing it today - one of my colleagues has a birthday and is bringing cake in...
