I think these boots are super. DH thinks they are lame. Who is right?

these

His fairly valid point is that I already own glittery copper boots. But these are SILVER!!!

Lol they are 'special shoes'.

Shelleymoon · 01/02/2016 22:32

Nah. Not nice.

Thunderbumsmum · 01/02/2016 22:32

Love them. 80s goth cool.

IHeartKingThistle · 01/02/2016 22:36

Pacific those are amazing and you know it.

LaContessa - there isn't a definitive cool/not cool (and the disagreement on this thread shows that). There's just differing opinions and differing ideas of individual style.

Wear clothes that give you pleasure (whatever they are) because life's too short (and confusing!) not to.

Kingfisherfree · 01/02/2016 22:38

They look really cool on the blog. Are you as cool? If not then they will definitely look shit.

BinaryFinary · 01/02/2016 22:47

Initially I recoiled in horror but I like them on the cool young things in the blog [not helpful]

I've just bought these so am not totally opposed to metallics but a silver Chelsea boot sounds a bit too robot to me but I am open and easy to sway

IHeartKingThistle · 01/02/2016 22:49

I am not quite as cool as that, no. But I would say I wear what I like, which is occasionally unusual, so probably rocking up in silver boots wouldn't raise too many eyebrows.

So no. Not that cool, then.

How about these:
www.polyvore.com/silver_boots/set?id=185382506

I do like quirky boots.

ggirl · 01/02/2016 22:52

they have been styled on the star trek theme
hideous

like someone in clarks thought..oh hang on we need to do a boot in silver..right these will do

Pocketrocket31 · 01/02/2016 22:54

They look like my kid as painted his Great grannies boots that she got from betterware Confused

bbpp · 01/02/2016 23:04

I'm a fan of these if you want to go for silver shoes but not particularly ankle boots. I think they're sort of dorky-cool, with ankle grazing black trousers/skinny jeans. I'd probably wear a loose long-sleeve shirt/blouse, tucked in at the front.

Very quickly looked, but something like this if you're more colourful, or a plain white shirt if you're going for a more minimalist look.

I think it depends how young you look and your body shape for whether it will look OK.

(My first time posting links so sorry if they don't work)

IHeartKingThistle · 01/02/2016 23:04

Awesome.

DH has admitted he would rather have a wife in silver boots than a wife in black mum boots and bootcuts.

I think he just wants me to stop talking about the boots.

OP posts:
bbpp · 01/02/2016 23:06

Wait, not tucked in the same as the woman modelling the blouse. Looks a bit daft.

IHeartKingThistle · 01/02/2016 23:13

I like those shoes but I really do live in ankle boots.

OP posts:
bbpp · 01/02/2016 23:17

Fair enough! Get the boots then, I like them anyway. Smile

sleepwhenidie · 01/02/2016 23:17

I'm with Mitzythebootwhisperer

mathanxiety · 02/02/2016 03:39

Pacific, they are gorgeous !!
I have a pair like that except in bronze metallic by Calvin Klein. The fact that DD3 bought them in a size too big for her in hopes her feet would grow makes them all the sweeter.

claraschu · 02/02/2016 04:00

Can I compliment all of you on your wit?

I have no interest in boots (insomniac scraping the bottom of the barrel in "Active"), but have thoroughly enjoyed this thread

thegoldenlemon · 02/02/2016 04:35

Ha ha clar agreed. This thread has made a v long feeding stint more enjoyable. Op Zoe from dress like a mum makes the boots look cool I think. Couldn't carry them off myself and not my taste but if you go on her Instagram feed there are DROVES of people who love the boots and have bought them Smile

IHeartKingThistle · 02/02/2016 07:10

Droves, eh?

Think I might order them and see. Can always take them back, right?!

OP posts:
Floisme · 02/02/2016 07:20

What are granny shoes please?

Are they the same as old lady shoes?

What should you wear if you're an old lady but not a granny?

BowiesJumper · 02/02/2016 07:36

I agree they look a bit 'off' ok the clarks website but look awesome on that blog. So on the strength of that I'd say deffo get them. You can always send them back if you decide they're not right.

I do not regret the things I've done, but those I did not do... This obviously applies to boots.

LadyPriggsbottom · 02/02/2016 07:41

OP I think you should buy them.

I don't like them, but you do so I think you should go for it. A random stranger on MN has spoken! Go, go, go! Grin

LaContessaDiPlump · 02/02/2016 07:43

Hmm. None of my clothes make me feel good, mostly because of the body they're on.

Also, DH and I have very different ideas of 'nice' and 'stylish'; whenever I come home proudly waving some horror he does his best to say something nice but it's not heartfelt - you can generally spot these things. There's no one else I'm close enough to to seek approval from, so I have rather lost heart in the whole endeavour.

but it's not about me! I wish you every joy with the boots op, you clearly love them and have ideas on how to wear them well Grin
