Do I need to move on from skinny jeans??

There have probably been threads like this already but....

I am hitting the shops tomorrow(ie. Zara) for my annual wardrobe top up. I NEVER shop. I am a country bumpkin and I work from home, I live in 3 pairs of different coloured skinny jeans from Zara, have one "going out" pair of Maison Scotch skinny jeans, with a few tops and jumpers, one pair of heeled ankle boots and one pair of knee high boots + trainers.

I am getting the feeling that I should not be buying more skinnies tomorrow. That the world has moved on. But I don't know if I can bring myself to buy bootcut or wide leg or mid calf trousers. I've only just packed away the bootlegs from the early 00s a few years ago!

What style do I buy that I can wear day in day out that doesn't look about 5 years behind everything? Or do I stick to skinnies cos I like them?

Probably not a good idea to google that.

Chunky knickers are essential undergarments when wearing the new wedgie jeans. Grin

I am today wearing some straight leg lee jeans (quite tight on the thigh for a straight leg imo) with chunky lace up boots, and to make the look complete a slightly eighties style batwing jumper! But my Knickwrs don't lace up Grin

I'm in love with these jeans, high rise, slim (but not skinny) leg (a tad looser irl). Finally a comfortable waistline, and they look and feel like proper jeans.

The problem with bootcuts and flares is that you need whole different length depending on whether you're wearing heels or flats.

Skinnies, SL, boy/girlfriend jeans are definitely more versatile on that front.

I have a pair of girlfriend jeans that I am wearing to death, as they're a slim fit, they're totally structured and un-stretchy (can't find these anywhere, which is making me think I might visit the Levis shop to see what's on offer), and can be worn with flats or heels. They're basically cigarette pants in denim.

I really like those Frugal - but maybe in a darker wash.

FF - where are they from?

I think they are MiH Blue Daily jeans. I google searched the image, I don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of jeans!!

ditch skinnies!?Shock never!!!

I love mine and get them from Matalan for £12. best fit for me. wear them with heels/boots/nice top/ jumper

FrustratedFrugal · 29/01/2016 17:42

MiH The Daily - they are normally mega expensive but this wash (Berg) was on sale on their website. They feel a bit like vintage 501s. This pic show the fit better, slim but not skintight!

And yep Dexter - impressive! Denim-o-logy Star Grin

YouGotta - I got them from an NZ shop, but they're not producing them anymore. I bought a second pair, thankfully. Now, the same shop is full of super skinnies, cropped skinnies, high-waisted skinnies - and all with stretch.

This thread inspired me to to through my clothes limbo cupboard yesterday. Found a couple of Gap and French Connection straight legs, not sure of date but probably late 90s. Wider than today's straights and a great, slouchy cut, somewhere between girl and boyfriend. And no lycra: 100% heavy duty but already broken-in denim Smile Sadly I never had any 501s but may check them out too this time round.

Yes I'll need to think about shoes/boots and tops all over again but I like figuring out that kind of thing.

Skinnies, it's been fun but we're through.

I blame you all for my shopping spree today.

Two pairs in my favourite ever jeans shop. Push in (for my flabby belly), high waist, in slim straight leg and in bootcut.
www.salsastore.com/en/index.php?id=430 (the site for the UK is more expensive)

They just fit perfectly around my bottom and no gaps at the back.
