My lovely DD had all her hair cut off yesterday. She's been thinking about it for ages so it wasn't a mad impulse.
She took a cute picture of an Anne Hathaway pixie cut with her. She also had some colour as she wanted to be blonder. She's very upset with how it looks and thinks is it is very middle aged and not pixie! I think she looks gorgeous but agree that the cut and colour isn't brilliant. It's so short though that we don't know how to change it...Are there any hairdressers out there who could advise? Can the cut be rescued without taking loads more off?? Please please help, I was so proud of her for being brave and going for a change and she's so upset.

BTW if the hairdressers want to wait until your DD has had a dye test then you could just use a temporary colour in the meantime.

You get ones that last about 12 washes. It's not an ideal thing to do but anything is better that the dye job that she has.

I just can't believe that there are hairdressers that are that incompetent.

Good luck for tomorrow Smile

Didn't you read the post about being so awful using a temporary hair colour? Why are you banging on about it?
:)

Floowho · 18/01/2016 08:02

Been thinking about this. The highlights really emphasise every layer and cut. A block brunette colour will do a lot for helping it look more blended. As someone who recently went from peroxide back to brunette, my hair dresser dyed my hair in two steps using a semi permanent colour. This meant it didn't fade as quickly. Your daughter will have great hair again x

herecomesthsun · 18/01/2016 08:09

Going lighter might look funkier.

herecomesthsun · 18/01/2016 08:11

Was this the Anne Hathaway pic?

She's got great hair, really thick but that's a bit George Michael in his Careless Whisper days.
Shorter and less leopard print colour would look better.
I would go back to same salon but demand that the boss fixes it. (unless this was the Style Director's work)

I had the same hair cut and colour but I was 45 at the time...

Mama1980 · 18/01/2016 08:14

Good luck today! Hope she can get it sorted

merrymouse · 18/01/2016 08:21

I think would look much better one colour. I wouldn't go back to that hairdresser.

ophiotaurus · 18/01/2016 08:35

Hope she can get it fixed.

Chillyegg · 18/01/2016 08:41

Needs to be shorter on the back and sides and one block bold colour.

flashheartscanoe · 18/01/2016 08:45

I can't find the exact picture of Anne but it was like this...

bikingintherain · 18/01/2016 09:02

Good luck for today, hope it all works out ok.

EricNorthmanSucks · 18/01/2016 09:08

Agynes Deyn also rocks some great cuts (and generally sticks with platinum blonde).

ShhhBeQuiet · 18/01/2016 09:14

Lewji* Really? Hmm

nilbyname · 18/01/2016 09:18

Your poor dd- I've been there at that age and has disaster short cuts. I'm sure she will come
Out of this with something cool and edgey non Clare balding!

Also that hairdresser did a shitty job and should be complained to!

morningmistermagpie · 18/01/2016 09:18

I quite like Anne Hathaway, but 'edgy' she is not. Get your girl to takeout some pictures of trendier cuts like Agnes Deyn (sp?) or Jean Seburg and I agree, bold colour is the answer here.

iamEarthymama · 18/01/2016 09:24

Good luck today and keep us posted!

I had the same experience locally, I am about 100 years older than your dd, but expect any hairdresser to understand from my clothes and general demeanour that I want a funky hairstyle.

Until I found lovely Jay at Jagged Edge, I would be so disappointed and would have to try to put it right at home.

I hope dd finds a good one today and that she can build up a relationship, it's so important to trust your hairdresser.

Love the selfies, some excellent hair on MN!

Floowho · 18/01/2016 09:26

I think we can safely say that Anne Hathaway might not be edgy, but that is not the same hairstyle.

JellyTotCat · 18/01/2016 09:33

Hope you get it sorted op. Your dd will always remember this and hopefully be able to laugh about it in years to come, but she'll also always remember how you dealt with it. Your kindness in allowing her to take the day off and helping her to get it fixed rather than sending her in to face the music. I like this cut on Carey Mulligan www.google.co.uk/search?q=carey+mulligan+pixie+hair&client=ms-android-samsung&prmd=inv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiopreYhbPKAhVMXhoKHWCxA9UQ_AUIBygB#imgrc=xuXhgQPsc4pWAM%3A

MadamCroquette · 18/01/2016 09:34

And that Anne Hathaway is edgier than Clare Balding (sorry Clare but I hope she wouldn't mind!)

And also I think Anne Hathaway is edgier with her short hair than she was before.

Here's a style I like:

We have an appointment with a senior stylist at Toni and Guy at midday. Fingers crossed! They won't do the colour as they need a patch test so we'll have to ask the hairdresser's advise on that.
