My lovely DD had all her hair cut off yesterday. She's been thinking about it for ages so it wasn't a mad impulse.
She took a cute picture of an Anne Hathaway pixie cut with her. She also had some colour as she wanted to be blonder. She's very upset with how it looks and thinks is it is very middle aged and not pixie! I think she looks gorgeous but agree that the cut and colour isn't brilliant. It's so short though that we don't know how to change it...Are there any hairdressers out there who could advise? Can the cut be rescued without taking loads more off?? Please please help, I was so proud of her for being brave and going for a change and she's so upset.

Hope it goes well!

I'm happy for your DD that she has you OP and that you are being so supportive. I wish I'd had a mum like you Flowers I hope you have a nice time together today.

longestlurkerever · 18/01/2016 09:58

Ditto! What time is the appointment?

DogStuff · 18/01/2016 09:58

Good luck!

JellyTotCat · 18/01/2016 10:01

Op said midday

MiniCooperLover · 18/01/2016 10:05

A good cut, maybe a pixie, will take a lot of the colour away and she may end up left with something funky anyway. The cut is the main issue. Good luck OP

omri · 18/01/2016 10:14

Best of luck op and dd!!

FairiesAreReal · 18/01/2016 10:14

Good luck. Show us a picture when it's done Smile

ChristmasCabbage · 18/01/2016 10:17

Marking place for a picture.

I had a really short platinum pixie crop for years and completely loved it. I'm trying to grow my hair at the minute but the urge to get rid of it all is very strong.

Some weight taken out of the top and doing away with the parting so that the hair is styled from the crown forward and to the side will be great.

She has lovely thick hair though Smile

TurnOffTheTv · 18/01/2016 10:19

Fingers crossed they can sort it, poor thing!

Sunflowers22 · 18/01/2016 10:26

I really admire what you're doing to help your DD with the hair cut. It's clearly nothing like what she wanted and it's a big thing for a teenager. I can distinctly remember the disappointment I felt during the years 14-16 when I had my hair done and it was not how I wanted. I came home crying quite a few times and I only had a few inches more off than I wanted. Well done you for helping her sort this. It might be funny in a few years but I would imagine for a teen this is huge. The pixie cut she intended to get is lovely I'm sure she'll suit and love the look she gets.

Herrerarerra · 18/01/2016 10:49

Looking forward to an update and hopefully a picture of a fab new style! Good luck!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/01/2016 10:50

Oooh, the first open-on-Sundays hairdresser Lweji linked to is run by a mate of DH's! And it is great - have had my hair cut there many a time.

Error404usernamenotfound · 18/01/2016 10:51

Best of luck for today, looking forward to the 'after' pic - I'm sure she'll look amazing!

All these pics have inspired me to consider getting my hair cropped short again...

PolovesTubbyCustard · 18/01/2016 10:53

Good luck at the appointment.

newdocket · 18/01/2016 11:14

Good luck! Please post an 'after' picture. I do hope your DD will be pleased with her new look

Frazzled2207 · 18/01/2016 11:16

Great news. You can temporarily sort the colour later today with a box from
Boots I'm sure

multivac · 18/01/2016 11:18

Also marking in the hope that there's a fab 'after' picture Smile

Shelleymoon · 18/01/2016 11:23

Good luck op. Your poor dd.

RainOhJoyus · 18/01/2016 11:25

Good luck to DD and you're a lovely mum

lurkingabit · 18/01/2016 11:31

Another behind you here, for taking her out of school. Dead right. This is a huge deal for a teenager!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Herrerarerra · 18/01/2016 11:32

Just to add that Superdrug do a great - and cheap - wash in wash out colour which would help to blend the highlights if she's waiting for a skin test, although it may last longer on the the coloured bits and be slightly more intense depending on how long it's left on before rinsing.

newdocket · 18/01/2016 11:37

yes, also wanted to echo other posters saying you're being great about this. my mum packed me off to school after my disastrous 'do and i was roundly mocked. i think the fact i remember it so vividly today highlights the fact that it was really quite an ordeal. you being supportive and helpful is a truly great thing :-)

DianaTrent · 18/01/2016 12:05

Good luck, I hope she's delighted with the cut today. My DD is thinking of getting all her beautiful hair chopped off, and it's incredibly thick like your DD's so I can foresee the same difficulties getting a style exactly the way she wants it. Kids can be cruel, I'm normally strict making sure my DD doesn't miss school unless absolutely necessary, but this is one of those occasions I'd make an exception for, she'd lose a lot more focus in school if she was getting teased than she'd miss in one day of school.

flashheartscanoe · 18/01/2016 12:17

so she gone in, hairdresser was lovely and seemed to totally 'get it'. she immediately said her hair was too thick to sit in the shorter flatter styles so we agreed on something sort of messy on top. DD has been so cool about it, treating it as a bit of an adventure! I'm just having a coffee and then I'm going back...

Grin Glad you found a nice hair dresser who understands.

And you were completely right to keep her off school today for this. The emotional damage done by going into school today with that awful hair would have been irreversible. I know from experience.
