Very sad DD, new haircut please help!

My lovely DD had all her hair cut off yesterday. She's been thinking about it for ages so it wasn't a mad impulse.
She took a cute picture of an Anne Hathaway pixie cut with her. She also had some colour as she wanted to be blonder. She's very upset with how it looks and thinks is it is very middle aged and not pixie! I think she looks gorgeous but agree that the cut and colour isn't brilliant. It's so short though that we don't know how to change it...Are there any hairdressers out there who could advise? Can the cut be rescued without taking loads more off?? Please please help, I was so proud of her for being brave and going for a change and she's so upset.

I'd definitely get to Another hairdresser. There's still quite a lot of hair there so I'm sure there's still potential for a pixie. And the colour can probably be fixed pretty easily.

I don't think the colour is helping at all, it would look a lot better with out the highlights.

I would go to a different hairdressers to get it sorted.

Eek... If she can bear it I'd clipper the sides and back, and dye the whole lot blonde or jet black. At least it won't be middle aged. And avoid that hairdresser.

It needs thinning, and a few different shades of blonde/caramel.

How old is DD? I'm thinking a bright bright blonde all over will young it up a bit.

Poor daughter, that hairdresser has done a dreadful job of the colours.
You should go back and complain and they should fix it but do you want to risk it?
I'm sure it's salvageable.

If she hasn't already done so, the first thing I would try is washing it and styling it myself. I always had to do this as a teen to get my hair looking how I wanted it.

Other than that, I imagine another hairdresser could change it - it might only need a small change to the shape to make it look right.

Yes straight to another hairdresser. It looks salvageable and taking it out of the parting will help. Poor DD it's horrible when haircuts leave you feeling upset. A new hairdresser will make it beautiful, get her to take the same picture and ask the hairdresser to talk you through what they are going to do.

Go to another hairdresser. Highlights are making it middle aged so agree peroxide it or go darker but one colour. It needs to be shorter and messed up with a putty product. Poor DD.

I think having a solid colour would work better, as highlights don't look great. She might have to wait for the top layers to grow a bit, might be more flattering. I would go to a different hairdresser to be honest. The good thing about hair is that it grows.

Take her to the best hairdresser you can afford to get it fixed.

Even those highlights aren't great, v stripy looking.

Maybe Google very short hairstyle for young women to see if there's anything she likes.

There is nothing worse for confidence than feeling your hair is disastrous. I've been there!

Make sure you complain to the other hairdresser also

Oh dear, it reminds me a bit of Claire Balding! Who is fab but possibly not a style icon for teens. I think the highlights aren't helping - an all over colour would be better I think. How old is she, and what sort of style does she have? She could go shorter for a traditional pixie cut or if she's brave I agree with the poster above who said shaved sides & bleached.

I agree it would look nice an all over light blonde. Then lots of putty for a cool messed up look.
I have had hair disasters too, it is horrible.

If she has the sides clipped as short as she dares and then blow dries the top forward it will look fabulous.

If you paid for that colour I'd go in and take issue with it. They've not listened to her.

I would go for a refund. Book another hair apt somewhere good. In meantime buy hair wax and get slicking and defining until something tolerable appears.
The same happened to me once, I got a recut, it was fabulous - even with short hair there is plenty to work with.

Did she go to an 'old lady' hairdressers? (There are a few round here that I wouldn't trust with a major style overhaul like that...)
She needs to go somewhere either very expensive or very trendy and get them to sort it out. It will all turn out okay in the end! I'd also complain to the original hairdressers. If they weren't able to do the cut properly, they should have said no.

No that's awful and sooooo old fashioned, both the cut and the dodgy highlights.
Tbh I'd let her have the day off school tomorrow to get it sorted. (And no one bother giving me the outrage, I vividly remember my own experience so yes I would.) I'd be bloody traumatised having to face my schoolmates like that.
Do you not have any painfully trendy cool salons round your way? They could easily salvage that.
Poor lass, shit like this IS a big deal. I say this from many awful hair disaster experiences.

I also think for a quick fix - re wash it now, get the parting more over to one side / blow dry forwards and get some products for short hair in it. Should make it more bearable!

Claire Balding was my first thought too, her hair looks great on her but not on your poor DD.
I think even if she gets the colour sorted out she'll feel much better, it's really dreadful, sorry. Poor thing. Definitely complain to the hairdresser too

Oh dear, that's really not good for a teenager. I'm assuming they styled it in the saloon before you left, did it look my better then? I think the highlights are making it a lot worse - they remind me of princess Di!

Oh dear your poor DD. My nan has a similar colour and cut.

You're going to have to throw some money at this, a trip to your nearest city for an appointment with the most cutting edge trendy expensive salon you can find to fix both the colour and the cut.

I think it could be salvaged a fair bit by washing and restyling. The hair should be coming down and forward rather than flicked back like that.
