electric blue mascara...i had that !!!

TPel · 17/01/2016 22:26

I loved It! perfume. I thought it was so sophisticated when I was 13.

pseudonymity · 17/01/2016 22:29

I remember Salon Selectives, the song from the advert is still stuck in my head.
Later on but Rouge Noir nail varnish from Chanel.
Cool Water Davidoff on boys.
All of the early photos of me I'm wearing FAR too pale foundation. Was that a thing? I think I was trying to avoid orange or pink.
Cosmetics to Go I was in love with, the products were so imaginative, there's even a book about it!
Samsara, Poison, Eternity, Exclamation (had forgotten that one).
Papier-Poudre from the Body Shop.
White Musk.

BatmanLovesBaubles · 17/01/2016 22:30

It was Lynx Java for the boys when I was a teen.

Tribe - yes, and Exclamation and Charlie Red.
I had a Boots Natural Collection Earth body spray which I adored - it was green and smelt amazing
Bath pearls, Body Shop perfume bar, animal soaps, dewberry - we used to make little baskets for each other's birthdays
The decoupage carrier bag from River Island for our PE kits
Global Hypercolour
Hair mascara that really only showed up on blondes
Ooh - Body Shop peppermint foot lotion was fab

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 17/01/2016 22:43

The hair mousse with the blonde quiff lady was L'oreal Free Style.

MrsMarigold · 17/01/2016 22:56

Fiji

Judydreamsofhorses · 17/01/2016 22:57

Love this thread. My first proper perfume was Miss Dior in the dogtooth checked box, before that it was jasmine oil from the "hippy shop" or BS White Musk. A woman on reception at my work wears Giorgio Beverly Hills every day - she's probably late 40s - and I have to hold my breath when I walk by.

ijustwanttobeme · 17/01/2016 23:02

Like everyone else, I wore heather shimmer lipstick and loved the body shop, Esp for their paper Poudre to keep my TZone from being an oily shiny mess 😄
My perfume when I was a teen was Charlie, and then Panache. My first adult perfume was Rive Gauche- only yesterday I was in Debenhams, walking through their beauty section and saw it. Had to go and smell it, and like a pp it took me straight back to 1985. Smelt exactly as I remembered.

I also remember Anne French cleansing milk in the triangular bottle. Shaders and toners, constant carroll make up, esp the slightly soapy tasting lipsticks.

I think the gel and mousse that made everyone's hair crispy, was Loreals stu stu stu studio line.

shampoo of choice for me was revlon flex- the smell was fab. I also used to nab my flat mates badedas bath foam (sorry John..)

sarah2011 · 18/01/2016 11:08

I think this thread is enough to prove we need old school anita roddick body shop back in our lives. I would personally start collecting bath pearls and animal soaps again. I'm genuinely sad it's gone boo

An early lipstick was No7 "Shiny Conker". Bought for me by my mum!

MrsUnderwood · 18/01/2016 13:10

God this is such a blast from the past. Loved the Body Shop as a teen- I used their Henna cow pat hair colour and the sugar leg wax which I may have tried eating. I don't know how they stay in business these days as they're so pricey- I can't afford to shop there now I'm a grown up!

Wella colour mousse- used to dye my hair and ears orange with that. Heather shimmer seemed to be everyone's go to lipstick. Also had a black Barry M one as I was a little goth.

Gatekeeper · 18/01/2016 14:31

I used to love looking at the pics of Rimmel makeup in my mother's Woman's Own magazine

Glints by Clairol

ZaZathecat · 18/01/2016 19:04

"Solution 41" for spots. I think it was pure sulphuric acid - felt like it anyway!

ZaZathecat · 18/01/2016 19:06

And Anne French cleansing milk as advertised in Jackie every week in a cartoon strip if I remember rightly. My dd actually still uses this but it's only found usually in small independent chemists.

AuldAlliance · 18/01/2016 19:37

Oh yes, Papier Poudre. I can smell it as I type.

And that Body Shop milk bath powder stuff that came in a fabric bag...
The Body Shop and Benetton were where I spent Saturdays.

whirlybird42 · 18/01/2016 19:46

Boots natural collection before it went all sickly. They used to do this water garden flavoured thing which smelled amazing. And loads of lovely shampoos.

cheapskatemum · 18/01/2016 20:42

I had a Saturday job in Boots in the late 70s, so remember many of these. Also:
Fullers Earth - you mixed it with glycerine to make a face mask
Gloopy gel face masks that set on your face & then you peeled off - bright green, bright orange, can't remember brand name.
Aapri was the first exfoliating facial wash
Ponds vanishing cream (My Mum had Happy Face cleansing cream from Avon, which smelt gorgeous)
Zoff for removing the sticky grey residue left on your skin after pulling a plaster off. You had to write down who you sold it to after kids started sniffing it.

I bought my niece electric blue mascara from Kiku for Christmas. She was a bit Hmm, must ask her if she's worn it yet!

ifigoup · 18/01/2016 21:25

Gatekeeper, I love how all those Rimmel foundations and most of the nail polishes are basically the same colour!

MissBattleaxe · 18/01/2016 21:27

The Body Shop and Benetton were where I spent Saturdays I used to go into Benetton and unfold stuff. I was WILD back then.

Devora · 18/01/2016 23:00

I remember Zoff, cheapskatemum. We used to pour it on the arms of our school blazers and inhale... Substance abuse was very 1979, wasn't it? Blush

HopeClearwater · 18/01/2016 23:14

Loving the Lewis's mentions up thread! Used to get my hair cut at the Glemby salon in there, and afterwards spend my student grant in the Miss Selfridge dept on the same floor. Was still smearing on Twilight Teaser lipstick...

ygritte2 · 18/01/2016 23:29

This has been bugging me since I saw twilight teaser lipstick mentioned....I had a paler pink version of this Boots 17 one called pinking shear. You can buy a poncho pink one on eBay if anyone's interested.

sarah2011 · 19/01/2016 07:24

My 17 lippies were bon bon,Twilight teaser, clearly carnation and a Plum one which I'm sure was called 'its your plum' but that sounds a bit odd ha ha so maybe I'm wrong.

Arperge was one of my first grown up perfumes too- I gave it to my mum in the end tho as I preferred panache

Kitkatcustard my sister wore that No. 7 Shiny Conker lipstick. It was in a silver metal case
