I still have a bottle of Paris, and when I got it last year I called my friend immediately (she was the one who wore it in 87, I was in Rive Gauche) and said "go and buy some at once". She did and called back to say "OMFG, 1987!!!" That's what is so fabulous about perfume!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/01/2016 17:50

Cheapir pre Claires jewellry shop "Razzle Dazzle" (loved it )
And "What Every Woman Wants" (pre Primark )

Miss Selfridge 'Kiss and Make-Up' (I think there was 'Boo Boo Baby' cleanser, they had the lipstick blot patterns (I had the dressing gown Grin )

Gatekeeper · 17/01/2016 18:09

Miners make up - turquoise packaging with white Ms on it. You could either get the cheap push up lipstick or the more expensive twist one. In 1978 we all wore the denim blue kohl pencil that collected in the corners of our eyes!

Delph lemon cleanser
Anne French also did a face mask called Glo-5
Almondy smelling Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner
Maybelline Kissing Potion
Evette cosmetics from Woolies

Perfumes... Laughter, Stevie B, 5 a.m, Maxi, Tramp, Moondrops - I still remember some of the adverts for these!
Bonne Belle lip balms
Max factor comb on mascara

Later on I loved stuff from Cosmetics to go- the coconut shampoo and conditioner, neroli hair perfume, tangle conditioner and the soaps- Milky bar Isobar and sand bar- Lush just isn't as good

clippityclop · 17/01/2016 18:22

Stevie B, Charlie, 10-0-6 and multi coloured tissues and cotton will balls, Oxy 5 for spots, the Rimmel adverts with pictures of all the different colour nail polishes and eyeshadows, I had Frosted Willow and Nutmeg. Immac cream which stank to high heaven.

Buttwing · 17/01/2016 18:34

Exclamation
Nova hairspray

Oh and samsara and Paris perfumes.

CherryBlossom321 · 17/01/2016 19:32

My cousin and I used to get our pocket money on a Friday and walk to town on a Saturday morning to buy an array of toiletries and cosmetics. My favourite products were natural collection candy floss lip balm, mineral spring detangling spray, 'mum' roll on deodorant in the yellow fragrance, iced champink lipstick, exclamation! perfume (make statement, without saying a word), and salon selectives although I can't remember my combo. I wonder if any modern shampoos replicate that beautiful fragrance, I've honestly never smelled one as good since. The body shop I adored raspberry ripple bath bubbles. Ooh, and the Satsuma ones too. Also had a thing for the white musk body lotion.

goingtotown · 17/01/2016 19:48

Where do teenage girls get their make up from now that The Body Shop is so expensive!?

sarah2011 · 17/01/2016 21:19

Does anyone remember using a gorgeous snelling clenser from the body shop- a cream one, not the passion fruit one, I can't for the life of me think of the name, it smelt amazing.
Most teenagers shop in Mac and superdrug I reckon

OP posts:
balletgirlmum · 17/01/2016 21:33

Dd gets a lot of her make up from Superdrug.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/01/2016 21:47

Where do teenage girls get their make-up?

My DD (13.6) loves Superdrug to buy practice make-up, Benefit, Mac (though she only have a Mac Lip Liner, I know she covets more)

What the dickens was that hair mousse , I can see the packaging, a woman with a blonde quiff style (not a photo, a drawing) Not Inecto , that was round that time though.

Bodyshop cleanser - I had a cucumber one but there was a honey scented one too. (Can't remember the name but you used to get the bottles refilled)

I once splashed out £££ on a 500ml pump bottle with birthday money , lasted ages.

Greengardenpixie · 17/01/2016 21:52

Lemon roll on lip gloss! I can taste it now!! So lemony! Bodyshop perfume oils. Everyone had dewberry. Fuzzy peach was lovely too. Oh and ananya. Pears shampoo. Smelt lovely when i was a little girl. Like apples. Can you still get that?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/01/2016 21:52

Ooh there was a brand called Topaz back in the 80s, I bought a pump bottle of conditioner and a free tiny bottle of shampoo attatched.

Woods of Winsdor baths salts

Henera Shampoo and conditioner (I revisited my youth with a bargain tube of each (£1 each from Savers) smells like marshmallows )

There was a shampoo in a dark brown glass bottle , plastic hexagonal lid. It was thick, dark green, my favourite was "Nettle". IIRC , I bought in Lewis's.

sarah2011 · 17/01/2016 21:56

Lewis's ha - are you from Liverpool? I used to work there and got my expensive make up on my store card with staff discount, I used to pay £5 a week off it every sat - served me well that little system.
