I still use Badedas when I can afford it

Another fan of Cosmetics To Go - I'm sure they did a Happy Hippy shower gel that was nothing like the one Lush sell now?

I wonder what our DC would be saying on a similar thread in 20 years time? Luckily mine don't wear make up really so they're not orange Grin but they seem to have the whole range of Impulse/Lynx/Lush etc.

I'm hoping one of them inherits my love of perfume - I remember Fiji, Anais Anais (DH bought me this recently) Smile - Lou Lou anyone? Benetton, Ralph Lauren, Amarige, Yardley Lace?My favourite which I have worn for years can't afford now is L'arpege which DC say smells "nice but old fashioned".

PurpleHairAndPearls · 17/01/2016 06:38

And I still love Palomo Picasso Blush

PurpleHairAndPearls · 17/01/2016 06:39

paloma even BlushBlush

Pointlessfan · 17/01/2016 07:19

madmomma it was Bow Bangle before Claire's. Full of tat, it was wonderful!

FrustratedFrugal · 17/01/2016 07:38

My brother had a summer job packaging cosmetics. He gave me a huge industrial tub of VO5 hot oil (I found it mega expensive) - it felt like a windfall Grin

Lou Lou Blue by Cacharel

PhoenixRises · 17/01/2016 08:01

Does anyone remember a shampoo & conditioner range that you could customise? So you'd have a shampoo that was a number for your hair type and then the conditioner was a letter iirc.

Cannot remember what they were called now!

LittleFishBigOcean · 17/01/2016 08:13

Claire's Accessories used to be Bow Bangles, or Bows & Bangles or something. Rows and rows of scrunchies.

Les belles de ricci by nina ricci

Miss Selfridge Iron Lady lipstick. A frosted metallic pink that everyone wore. It didn't suit anyone! Worn with 80s big hair, slogan t shirts, pale ripped denim and canvas slouch boots or white stilettos!

purplepandas · 17/01/2016 09:03

You can still get lip cote. I have some as I was cheesed off with my lipstick always coming off. Sun in and Heather summer bring back memories. Free spirit impulse spray and fuzzy peach perfume.

purplepandas · 17/01/2016 09:03

Shimmer. Sorry!

purplepandas · 17/01/2016 09:04

London here too. I loved it!

purplepandas · 17/01/2016 09:05

Ffs. I give up posting on my phone. Loulou.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 17/01/2016 09:06

You can still get Ultra Glow too, btw (those green etc lipsticks that turn pink/red etc on lips)

Wonderful thread of nostalgia, wish I could go back and spend a day as my '80s teenage self.
Does anyone remember Natrel deodorants? They were mega popular at my school, all the cool kids would get them out after PE and fog up the changing rooms.
Also remember Jazz, teenage boys would douse themselves in it and if they had a girlfriend she would wear it too.
My staples were Japanese Washing Grains, Biactol, Rimmel concealer, and the aforementioned tubs of swarfega style hair gel. Also loved loulou and l'jardin perfume. Might have to seek out loulou in boots, think it's still around.

billygoatscruff · 17/01/2016 10:31

Loulou is still around but Loulou blue (with a dark blue bottle) has been discontinued.

oldsilver · 17/01/2016 11:04

Oh dear, I use Heather Shimmer as my nighttime/going out lippie. And Charlie Red is my perfume

One thing I used to wear was RimmelKohl Block - now that I do miss. Great big kite shaped lump that lasted for ages - no scratchy bits of pencil in your eyes and noz need for a sharpener in those days

MissBattleaxe · 17/01/2016 11:10

I still love LouLou. Never without a bottle on my dressing table.

I really miss the old Body Shop. Since it was sold (to L'Oreal?) its just an overpriced Body Butter shop. Some of the fragrance is good though, and they've had the sense not to discontinue White Musk.

CreviceImp · 17/01/2016 11:42

I think that shampoo/ conditioner with the letters/numbers option was Salon Selectives. Might be wrong mind but I remember getting it.

I loved Linco Beer in the sachets and Vidal Sassoon in the brown bottles that smelt of almonds.

My first perfume was Y by YSL. BIDDY CENTRAL when I last smelt it.

I too remember the appalling shades offered by Rimmel. One was a particularly vile shimmering pink. Later on it was all about Beauty without Cruelty and Coppernob, toffee apple (a slight upgrade from heather shimmer) and perfect plum. Even their palest foundations were claggy and orange.
Eeemmmmmmmm. Lovely. Especially with a nice crispy perm in a mullet shape, dyed auburn and a ten foot high quiff.

Anyone remember Topaz shampoo?

GhettoFabulous · 17/01/2016 12:07

When my daughter was about 8 she won the forerunner of hair straighteners in a tombola. It had a tiny wee tank like an iron that you filled with water and used steam to straighten. 20p, that cost us. Might have been about 1998?

In the mid nineties I used Lush Sea Henna for me and my daughter, who were pre-school age, all with long hair. It was a conditioning treatment in a big tub, colourless, worked like a dream. Of course, when they discontinued it, all the other hair masks were twice the price and half the size.

The very first thing I ever bought from Lush was Queen of Hearts soap, rose scented, gorgeous. When they opened their first shop in Glasgow I just followed the amazing smell to their door!

Pointlessfan · 17/01/2016 12:10

I remember those shampoos with the numbers, I think they were Salon Selectives. Have also just remembered Timotei.

rollonthesummer · 17/01/2016 12:56

Timotei is still made-I have a bottle!

maybemyrtle · 17/01/2016 13:07

Yy to rimmel earth star, linco beer shampoo, harmony hair colours, shaders and toners and yes cosmetics to go! The latter used to do high brow and amazing lip lacquers in a little pot. And the Turkish bath stuff. They're local to me and yes became lush but not the same. Love this thread.

crookedhooker · 17/01/2016 13:32

Paris was my pulling perfume Grin.

Forgot all about the tubs of lipbalm from Boots Natural Collection remember Candy Floss and Toffee Apple.

Salon Selectives, loved it, I was an H still love apple scented shampoo. Its a real miracle we didn't go up in a puff of smoke with the amount of aerosols etc we used we must have been fire hazards between the hairsprays, deodorants, body sprays and perfumes.

Can anyone else in Northern Ireland remember the name of the shop that was similar to Body Shop? I think there was one in Lisburn.
