I wore coffee shimmer for years!

I think I spent most of my Saturdays in the late 80s in The Body Shop-is was brilliant! I have never actually seen anyone in the branch in my home town apart from the staff for the last ten years-I'm amazed it's still open! It used to be perfect for teenage girls to spend their pocket money on but their stuff is so expensive now! Who is their target market?!

Did anyone have any of those bendy roller sticks for curling hair?! I got a free set once on the front of an issue of Mizz magazine. They weren't as good as I thought they'd be!!

wickedwaterwitch · 16/01/2016 23:41

Pmsl at country moist sounding wrong now!

wickedwaterwitch · 16/01/2016 23:43

Omg ANNE FRENCH! what a triumph of marketing over product that was! Loose white stuff in a bottle, total crap!

wickedwaterwitch · 16/01/2016 23:45

And hair mousse, OMG - you'd squirt it into your palm, scrunch it though your hair and it would dry like bloody cardboard.

SecretWitch · 16/01/2016 23:48

Vidal Sasson shampoo and Herbal Essance Shampoo..
Love's Baby Soft Perfume
Kissing Potion lip gloss that was sticky and oily at the same time
And that self tanning creme that left orange streaks on your palms and elbows...

madmomma · 16/01/2016 23:53

Salon selectives, vo5 hot oil, constance carol, mudd masks, papillon pink bendy rollers, home perms, scrunch sprays, tribe perfume,

sarah2011 · 16/01/2016 23:53

I own a bottle of Body Shop strawberry body oil that's over 20 years old but still smells as good as it did the day I bought it! Can anyone beat that? I also miss the lip balms they did 25 years ago, the lip butters they sell today are nowhere near as good.

madmomma · 16/01/2016 23:55

Bon bon lipstick, lipsyl original and strawberry, lancome maquisuperb

CointreauVersial · 16/01/2016 23:56

Woodleigh Green shampoo
Country Born hairgel (in a big pot - you scooped out a handful for scrunch-drying)
Ann French cleanser
Shaders and Toners
Miners eyeshadow
Geminesse perfume (I hear it's coming back!!)

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 16/01/2016 23:57

Yup Anne French cleansing lotion was advertised everywhere. And on the radio was Cuticura mildly medicated soap. I used Shaders and Toners too!

What I really miss is Yeastpac face pack - could kill off spots overnight!

madmomma · 16/01/2016 23:58

Ananya, bath cubes!!! Omg I'd forgotten those! I remember the excitement of unwrapping one

SecretWitch · 16/01/2016 23:58

Remember in the 80's you were to just put some gel in your hair and pop on a scrunchie and off you go! I always looked liked cats had licked my head and the scrunchie things always end up on my wrists.

madmomma · 16/01/2016 23:58

What was that cheapo jewellery shop called before there was Clair's or accessorise?

sarah2011 · 16/01/2016 23:59

Oh my.god f@ckn bon bon I have been trying to think of that all night- my mum used to tell me I looked like a corpse wearing it but I loved it so much x country moist is the best thing to come out of this thread do far! Ha ha

madmomma · 17/01/2016 00:00

Camay soap, imperial leather,lipscuff

wickedwaterwitch · 17/01/2016 00:00

Shaders and toners did fuck all, basically

Deux · 17/01/2016 00:02

OMG, I remember so many of these. Anne French was my first ever cleanser. And the joy of 10-0-6.

Something just popped into my head. I used to have a cordless styling brush that was powered by a mini gas canister. I think it was by Braun. Iirc, you slid a switch over, pressed a button on the end and it fired up. Seems bonkers now. I went through several as they seemed to conk out regularly. Wasn't it dangerous? I used to smoke then and how the lit cigarette/gas canister/hairspray combo didn't cause a mini explosion I don't know. Smile

sarah2011 · 17/01/2016 00:02

Ananya ♥ was gorgeous x

Bath cubes always left you sitting on a pile of grit. Deux - I still have one of those gas brushes - I won it in a competition 20 years ago!

bialystockandbloom · 17/01/2016 00:47

Country Born hair gel was like a big tub of Swarfega!

TheFormidableMrsC · 17/01/2016 00:52

Have just come back to thread but saw somebody mention "Tabu". My Mum had a huge bottle of Chanel No 5 that she loved, adored and coveted. My Dad knocked it over one day and it smashed into smithereens in the bath. Rather than go out and replace the No 5, he went to the chemist down the road and bought a bottle of Tabu and absolutely could not understand why my Mum thought this was not a sufficient replacement Grin. Vicious divorce was only just diverted by educating Dad. Phew!

TheFormidableMrsC · 17/01/2016 01:01

Cosmetics to Go! OMG, mentioned upthread! I lived and died those products and so was so desperate to see it IRL that I drove to their one and only shop in Poole (about 150 miles) to get some Isobar and Milkybar soaps. Yes, it did become Lush eventually, but Lush has never had the same appeal for me. Also, they don't do the same seaweed hairgel that gave my hair that individual not wet look crispy finish Grin
