Body Shop Seaweed shampoo, and the henna which is now sold as medicine for rabbits who need syringe feeding after surgery!!! Grin I couldn't place it at first, but the smell was exactly the same!!

Flex shampoo and I also remember the Salon Selectives one that smelled like apples.

Anne French. Impulse 'Captivation' body spray. And a hairspray that was in a pump bottle (better for the environment!)

My first perfume was Babe but my first grown up perfume was Lou Lou.

Oil of ULAY and Opal Fruits!!

Ultra Glow - the original bronzer and the green lipstick that changed with your pH

Hint of a Tint or Shaders/Toners wash in colourants

Oh beech lip liner, I had that too!!!! And the passion fruit face wash. They brought that back a couple of years ago when they had some anniversary or other, took me right back to the 80s!!

MissBattleaxe · 16/01/2016 21:47

You can still get Jovan musk. Yy to Woodleigh Green!

This thread is nostalgia in a bottle. Anne French, 10-0-06 (paintstripper), Rive Gauche, Heather Shimmer, roll on lip gloss, Dewberry perfume. Block mascara: there were always dire warnings in Jackie magazine about not to spit in it, as you could get mould growing in your eyelashes.

What was that lemon body range we used to use? And the bath foam made from horse chestnuts? And the first hair mousse, came out early 80s I think, that was rubbish but seemed a great step forward from the blue setting lotion that was available before.

Foundations have got so much better, haven't they? I always used to just buy the palest one in the range, and it was always too dark, too pink and too thick. Can't believe how great they are now.

I do still use Cornsilk powder occasionally (not the same pot, obviously). Everything else I'm happy to turn my back on.

Cornsilk foundation (it had a paddle in the bottle)
Rimmel Poster Pink Lipstick
Lipcote (oh, did it sting)
Body shop white musk, dewberry and a pink one, can't think what it was called?
Body Shop blackhead remover tool
Anais Anais
APRI facial scrub
Bath pearls
Shaders/toners
Schwarzkopf Gliss Corimist
VO5 hot oils
Sock shop super shimmery/glossy tights

This takes me back....

Devora, was the chestnut stuff called something like badedas? In a dark green bottle? Sure it's still around, mum and dad have a bottle in their guest bathroom!

Heather shimmer
White musk
Dewberry

There was a fruit smelling natural collection range from boots that I used to love but I can't remember the fruit!!! Sure it was purpley pink

Hot and Cold perfumes from Bennetton - the lids were little taps.

Wore those for years, until I discovered Tommy Girl. Smile

Miss Selfridge make up. I had a blue lippy and those lovely glittery eye-shadows in the glass tubes

Also does anyone remember Cosmetics to go?

Didn't they become Lush?

Before Wash n' go there was another two tone shampoo/conditioner called Once I think. I also used to buy Boots hair mascara - essential 1980s item! Another blast from the past but more because it reminds me of my grandparents - Euthymol toothpaste. I got some the other day - lovely!

Old Spice

Brut - I get the horn when I think of that green bottle as a boy I fancied wore it - drove me mad

Did anyone ever use the green 'correction' powder from no7 and go round looking like grotbags?

Yes! That never really worked did it?

Cococonuts- I also loved Captivation body spray and had Babe perfume. I had another Impulse spray called Nirvana I think (black canister) My first grown up perfume (well, I say grown up) was Anais Anais but my friend Paula had something called Eau Jeune which was very lemony and I coveted it terribly.

Boots Lemon Grass bath cubey things at Christmas, Avon Moonwind talc, Pretty Peach soap and Avon soaps with ballet dancers on. They all had the same smell. I browsed Avon recently and was disappointed to see not a soap in sight.

Midas bubble bath (bright green bottle with dimples in it)

My first proper make up (bought by my Mum when I was about 13) was a Mary Quant set with eyeshadows, highlighter and lip glosses.

Dewberry was utterly foul, and much beloved of Japanese exchange students. White Musk was only slightly less sickly.

Bourjois had something in the 80s called Blanc de base which I used religiously and now realise was a primer forerunner and they were probably test driving that ££££££s Chanel one. Used Bourjois pressed powder and their transvision vampy lipsticks (very flat matte pink)

I had an Estee Lauder foundation called Country Moist (which sounds a bit creepy and wrong now) Cost £17 and my friends were horrified that I had spent so much. (I suppose in real terms as this was about 30 years ago, prices haven't gone up that much)

Ooh nothing better than a nostalgic beauty thread!

My sister and I had maybe the biggest row of our lives over a Twilight Teaser lipstick in 1984 and I KNOW it was mine

And to add: M&S cucumber toner. Did fuck all but smelt so fake-cucumbery Grin

Yy to Charlie Red and Impulse O2, also the original Herbal Essences (the purple one) and Organics shampoos, both smelt divine.

I used that no7 green stuff, under an inch of foundation. It was cream though wasn't it, rather than powder?

Has anyone mentioned Joop yet?? To this day if a an walks past me wearing it (admittedly it doesn't happen often) it takes me back and makes him instantly attractive
