Cosmetics 2 Go in the pre-Lush days, my first foray into mail order.

P1nkP0ppy · 16/01/2016 19:55

Biba lipstick- very dark purple, in a black push-up case
Fidji perfume (bought some recently, brought back memories galore)
KIKU yes! Talc with a puff in a yellow ball - dad bought it for my mother every birthday until she said she was sick of it!
Tabu perfume, pretty overwhelming - not in a good way!
Aramis aftershave.....miles nicer than Brut.

wickedwaterwitch · 16/01/2016 19:56

Omg youth dew! My first boyfriends mother wore it, I'd feel 15 if I ever smelled it again...

wickedwaterwitch · 16/01/2016 20:00

That lipstick staying on stuff was lipcote wasn't it? It smelled of chemicals!

And roll on cherry cola lip gloss

White musk from the body shop, eww

wickedwaterwitch · 16/01/2016 20:02

I also had rive gauche and magi noir perfumes

breezeharbour · 16/01/2016 20:03

Superdrug's own mini bottles of bath stuff/body lotion/spray (think they were aimed at teens, very bright colours etc.)
The passion fruit bubble bath had the most beautiful smell I've not been able to find anywhere else :(

915 sparkly roll on body glitter, I can remember the smell but not the flavour- ignited my love of glitter

Not really makeup but does anyone remember the children's Tinkerbell makeup range? Peel off nail varnish, also lipstick and perfume. I loved it so much, trying to find the perfume again on eBay.

CamdenTownie · 16/01/2016 20:04

Impulse free spirit, exclamation, bath pearls and bath cubes - the original 'bath bomb' they made the water so soft. I loved rimmel and lipcote too.

This thread has taken me right back to the early 90's Grin

CamdenTownie · 16/01/2016 20:06

Also does anyone remember Cosmetics to go? Used to get soaps and stuff by mail order!

ifigoup · 16/01/2016 20:07

I loved Impulse 02 as well, including the colour of the bottle (really bright lime green). I also really liked a special edition body spray that Just Seventeen brought out, and I was so sad when they stopped it.

Quite a butch girl in my year used to wear boys' Lynx Oriental deodorant - did they discontinue that scent or just change the name?

I loved all the Body Shop fruity soaps, and anything Dewberry (remember when you could make up your own gift baskets in the little round baskets with shredded paper?).

I also had a really delicious candy floss flavour lip balm, but I don't know where it was from.

wickedwaterwitch · 16/01/2016 20:08

Kissing potion! That's what that lip gloss was!

Body Shop Japanese Washing Grains. In a cardboard canister thing.
Added bonus was that you could spend ages in boring lessons picking the dried up crust out from under your fingernails...
Raspberry Ripple shower gel.

GingerNutRiskIt · 16/01/2016 20:11

I had candy floss lipgloss, the type in a pot with a black lid.

Hubby had Aramis 900 aftershave when we got together. I love that stuff.

PollyPerky · 16/01/2016 20:14

Oh gosh- Figi perfume ! I used to love it till a boyfriend who I thought was great told me it made me smell like an old lady!

And Biba lippies- black metal case. I had one that was almost brown- don't know what shade.

my aunt bought me some EL Youth Dew which i thought was amazing- now I think it's foul and for a 15 yr old???

ShinyShinyShiny · 16/01/2016 20:26

I remember the Japanese Washing Grains, I loved those.

Did anyone else Duwop Lip Venom? It might still be around, it stung like crazy but I was addicted to it 15 or so years ago.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 16/01/2016 20:30

I once got a little wicker hamper full of beauty products, can't remember if it was Biba or Mary Quant. Late 70's/Early 80's. I still have the hamper, and use it to store all our little wrapped biscuit bars and snacks. That makes it unbelievably about 35 years old!!!!!!! Just about ready for the Antiques Roadshow

2016Candles · 16/01/2016 20:33

Loads of these have me smiling.

I LOVED those strawberry-flavoured roll-on lip glosses.

Went through the whole Body Shop Dewberry phase, too, I'm sorry to say.

I still miss the smell of the original Wash N Go shampoo, and Silkience (sp?) conditioner.

GhettoFabulous · 16/01/2016 20:36

Jojoba shampoo that smelled of coconut. Then I was about 14 circa 1983, Impulse had a spray called Gypsy and my pal's mother said it was lovely and asked me what it was. I felt immensely grown up. It was bloody lovely, gutted when they discontinued it.

mypoosmellsofroses · 16/01/2016 20:48

lipcote still exists ...my MUA put some on me on my wedding day (2014), blast from the past that was, but worked a treat!!

NNalreadyinuse · 16/01/2016 20:57

Remember boys wearing Jazz? Or Kourous.

sarah2011 · 16/01/2016 21:00

Kissing potion and tinkerbell ♥

PicInAttic · 16/01/2016 21:02

Still use Lipcote - lippy instantly disappears without it!

sarah2011 · 16/01/2016 21:04

Duwop lip venom is defo still around and widely used! Did anyone ever use the green 'correction' powder from no7 and go round looking like grotbags?
