style personalities

I really like that Whistles sweatshirt Queen it's probably good to step a bit out of your style comfort zone every once in a while. If you think you will wear it a lot keep it. Was watching The Voice last night and thought Emma Willis's top would be good on you although I couldn't tell if it was black or navy.

Was also watching the rugby too and really likes Gabby Logan's olive coat, it looked expensive Burberry perhaps? It was high necked but not funnel and slightly military looking in style, she was sitting down so I didn't see the length.

I'm after a grey/charcoal not marl suede belt for jeans, I ordered this WC belt but it is might lighter girl and the S is too small so it went back

Also ordered grey leather bracelet

I feel a bit stuck in a Winter style rut atm, and am wearing a uniform of either black/grey skinnies, Tippi jumpers and Pistols. It's getting a bit boring and safe Confused Hopefully I only have another month or so to suck it up.

Longislandicetee · 07/02/2016 12:14

Love that j crew jacket QueenC, though no way I am paying £205 for it!Shock

Style personality.....as you know I am as classic as you get. Reading the article, it's clear why why I defend the Duchess of Cambridge to the hilt.Grini would say that a pure classic isn't me, and I am more of a romantic classic - not so much the prints or fabrics but having an accessories fetish, matching underwear obsession and always wearing perfume!

Ootd is black Hawick cashmere sweater over j crew brown painter tee and banana republic skinny beige cords. Underwear is a Simon Perle charcoal grey set. I am wearing a pearl bracelet and a very big blingy ring. And Agent Provocateur perfume, which dh likes but I think is too "much" for day perfume.

MarshaBrady · 07/02/2016 16:49

QueenC sadly no, I can't do wide legs. Love the Rossis. Have been hunting for stuff, I can't find anything Sad. Might have to go to Liberty before I go.

Shop glad you had a fab night.

Fedup agree on natural fibre, hope it doesn't rain all day when we're there

Stokey and Safety thanks for info, really intrigued by high humidity. I love weather, actual weather rather than this mild, windy winter atm

90% humidity sounds so interesting to me right now, want to see what it's like

We watched The Revenant last night. Really loved it, what a majestic film and imagery. Hope it gets best actor, director and film.

Going to check out the style quiz.

LinusLovesBretons · 07/02/2016 19:11

Evening!

Eurgh, I at too much chilli con carne tonight so I'm already in my pj's as the elasticated waistband is definitely needed.

I love that style personalities breakdown queenc! I can really identify with city chic and it's the first time I've heard of that category.

Not sure abouth the flamingo sweatshirt for you. It's cute but I would get bored with it after one season.

marsha I envy you your next destinations even though it's work not pleasure. Love Singapore and would love to visit HK.

MarshaBrady · 07/02/2016 19:53

Linus I'm claiming city chic too.

Not too much hard work on the trip tg, one day is for visiting stores, which is good actually as we'll see the city. Lots of eating out together, which is the best part! hope it lives up to my anticipation

FedupNagging · 07/02/2016 20:10

I always thought I was a classic natural dresser but looking at that link I'm definitely a city chic/natural (which apparently sits between classic and natural)

I'm now in pj's but rather wishing these leggings and this jumper were in budget - I saw them in store last week and they're lovely and soft - perfect for lazing around.

Drywhitethanks · 07/02/2016 20:25

Well I'm obviously bipolar when it comes to style personalities Hmm..... A lot of classic, some romantic and daytime a bit of city chic. I'm sticking with "classic gamine" because I like to be referred to as "gamine" Wink

Kitty I niticed Gabby's coat too, very nice.

QueenC I love the J Crew jacket, like a bit of frayed edging ....Zara have done jackets like that in the past.

I'm having a bit of Massimo Dutti returns nightmare and am worried about it. Requested a return for the top, home collection, last Monday 2/2., which they confirmed by e mail.No one has been to collect, and when I was out I left the parcel in a hidden place with a note....no message to say they'd been and missed it. Have e mailed .....nothing Sad Will have to try calling tomorrow which is a total pita as I can't really make calls easily from work. Darn...this is why I prefer to use post to return stuff.

shopafrolic · 07/02/2016 20:30

I'd say City Chic too. Especially the bit about going shopping alone.

Longislandicetee · 07/02/2016 20:56

Hhmmm. Thinking further, I think I might stick with my original classic, and call it modern classic. The romantic stuff scares me.Grin

Marsha, meant to say I am still smiling about your business class comment. I will be excited with you.Smile For Singapore and HK, I agree that you need cotton clothes, nothing heavy, but you must must must take a cardi or jacket for indoors.

Anyone else's kids excited about Valentine's Day yet? Dd already talking about the cards she's making for dh and I. Bless.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/02/2016 21:07

I think i'm probably creative going on those choices. maybe with a hint of dramatic. classic just leaves me cold and does city chic! I'm just not made that way as well i believe you all know Grin

may have ordered a lydia deetz tee from teefury. well, i say may, i did and it's going to be a fine addition to my humongous tee collection, i have a tee for every mood

HappyGirlNow · 07/02/2016 21:32

marsha I also loved The Revenant.. Was a bit unsure about going to see it due to mixed reviews but it really 'got to me'.. Fab performance by LDC and amazing cinematography Grin

KittyHello · 07/02/2016 21:37

City Chic for me too Grin I'm definitely not the classic she posted. In fact I'm starting to have doubts that I am classic. I like classic clothes but they don't like me Hmm

QueenC · 07/02/2016 21:54

Glad you all enjoyed the link.
Did anyone get ST today. Alexa Chung is now going through the archives of m&s for a new collection. Who else is it that doesn't get AC? I think it may have been mignonette? Anyway apparently Princess Di is her latest inspiration. I used to love lady Di and totally had her hair.

OP posts:
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/02/2016 22:00

I dont really 'get' AC either, she just seems to float around not doing much of anything but whatever she does do is seemingly beyond my unstylish grasp. no, i don't get it but it's probably just me if she's seemingly so well thought of in those sorts of circles i guess

AmberNectarine · 07/02/2016 22:19

I rather like Alexa. Her style is quite gamine at times and she's a fellow kitty flat wearer!

I can't get on board with non-HoC style personalities - too confusing!

Two big nights on the bounce wrote off most of the weekend but I managed to get out for a run today.

Don't know about the kids but I'm certainly looking forward to the big V day night out I have planned for DH on Friday. Hallmark holiday and all that, I know, but any excuse to celebrate in this house Smile

Drywhitethanks · 07/02/2016 22:33
QueenC · 08/02/2016 07:32

Oh dry that so lovely Smile

OP posts:
LinusLovesBretons · 08/02/2016 08:02

Morning!

That is so sweet dry, I hope she is feeling better.

I do like Alexa Chung's style as it's a nice change from the TOWIE and even the MIC look but like any 'It Girl' she doesn't really do much apart from turn up at parties and 'collaborate' with beauty and fashion brands.

OOTD is boring skinnies with cashmere jumper and Chelsea boots. Yawn.

shopafrolic · 08/02/2016 08:08

Dry AWESOME :)

AmberNectarine · 08/02/2016 09:06

Morning!

An exciting day ahead of me featuring such highlights as going to the post office depot. Trying to keep my excitement in check.

Really enjoying my new Western belt from ASOS. It's really giving my jeans and jumpers combos a lift. Feels more relevant. Lovely DH bought me the silver reebok classics - I was amazed he liked them (he is Mr conventional dresser).

Thinking I might get a bomber jacket. I tried on a few and liked last Autumn, might take the plunge as the weather warms up. Fitted though, not voluminous 90s.

Really liked my outfit on Friday night - black madewell jumpsuit, leopard SE Karen boots and my beloved Givenchy Rottweiler clutch. Well, until I needed the loo and had to basically get naked in front of my best mate who then pointed out my bra was too small! My other friend described the look as 'Victoria Beckham at a business meeting where she wants to make an impact but also leave a little something for David' (she was drunk).

And so end my random musings! Hope everyone is well and feeling chipper this dismal Monday morning!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/02/2016 11:31

Morning :)

Just made my first purchase of the month, this shirt dress from Finery. I missed out on the navy/pink version before Christmas so have got in there fast with this one.

safety I'm going to HK in April so I might need to pick your brains a bit about what to wear too! If that's ok Grin We're going with a friend who has family there, but he's a man so I can't ask him.
Marsha how exciting that you're going business class. Envy

QueenC I like the sweatshirt, do you love it because of the flamingo or just because it's a nice sweatshirt? Do you have a plain grey sweatshirt?

Dry that is so lovely! He'd better be good enough for her :)

I don't like Alexa Chung because her legs are literally about two feet longer than mine. She is like a bloody horse.

I don't get the style personalities blog post either. She says she went to HoC but seems to have mixed up the categories. It's posts like that that put me off being a romantic, because she says they wear ruffles and bows and are girly. No, that's ingenue!

FedupNagging · 08/02/2016 12:51

That so lovely Dry, I'm really pleased for you her Smile

Lovely dress from Finery Blair. I love a lot of their clothes whenever they're linked but yet to purchase anything.

I don't have any opinion on Alexa Chung - sometimes she looks great, other times, not so great. I've also just had to google her as no idea what she did/does Blush

Ootd is navy skinnies (again) woolovers pink cashmere/merino crewneck and Valentino pink and grey scarf. Minimal jewellery and dark pink lipstick.

Stokey · 08/02/2016 13:39

Great dress Blair, I wish I could wear shirt dresses Envy

I don't get the AC love, I feel like all she ever did was date an Arctic Monkey and suddenly we're meant to all think she's fantastic. I like a bit of hard graft personally.

I like the sweatshirt too QueenC but do think £75 is a bit steep for a sweatshirt. Whistles annoy me generally with their designery prices for high street goods.

I'm in a bit of a ranty mood today, will get off my soapbox.

Some sale cashmere wrist warmers from Brora just arrived which I love. And I have Winging it sweatshirt on it's way too.

Can't be doing with those style personalities, too simplistic, although using bloggers to illustrate her point was a good idea. I liked the multiple ones Blair linked a few threads ago, they made more sense, but think the rebel in me just doesn't get on with pigeon-holing.

QueenC · 08/02/2016 15:16

Hello. Half term here and we're away and it's very soggy! Wearing the flamingo sweatshirt. blair I love it for the flamingo. It was just one of those things that made me smile when I saw it. I'm not generally a sweatshirt person although I have a couple from gap but they tend to only get worn around the house. stokey I agree it's overpriced but it was dh that convinced me to keep it.

stokey I,'m feeling a bit rebellious too. I love my clothes and my style but this year ive decided I'm going to try and push the boundaries a bit. You lot have convinced me to. The flamingo sweatshirt is the first of that. Hopefully I won't make too many mistakes but I don't want to get into a style rut and now I'm working ive got a bit more opportunity to try out new looks. I might even be a complete rebel and try a bright teal colour too which isn't strictly in my palette.

amber love your friends description of you!! I'm also getting back into belts after not wearing them for a while.
blair lovely dress for you.
