My bags are really bad and I've been reading about 'plexr' a new, non invasive, soft surgery. Does anybody know anything it or had it done?

I had Plexr treatment a week ago for upper and lower eyes as upper are very hooded and lower very baggy and saggy, I'm 59 and a full bleph would be so expensive and due to the amount of loose skin I was told at the start it would take more than one session. I had it done at Elite Aesthetics in Greenhithe by Dr Shirin who is very knowledgeable in this treatment and trains others in it. I have to say I'm very pleased with the results on the under eyes, the top shows some but less difference but you get up to 3 treatments for £2000. This includes a serum and also special breathable, and expensive, foundation with sun protection to cover the redness which you must use from day 1 and it helps relieve any soreness or irritation. Yes there was a lot of swelling around my eyes especially on day 2 where I could hardly see but it started going down slowly after that and nearly all the scabs were gone by day 6. I believe the redness remains for a while but doesn't show due to the foundation which they match to your skin colour. I believe infection can set in if the scabs are picked off which is a no-no. I took a week off work which you definitely need for the swelling and scabs to clear. Today is day 7 and I'm pleased to say I've been able to apply a small amount of eye makeup for the first time. I am happy with the results so far and even if it only gets rid of the sagginess underneath it's a great result for me and still cheaper than a bleph. I definitely plan to go back for another session after a couple of months.

It's interesting how this thread is bumped up every few moths by totally new posters who have all had amazing experiences..

For those with healing and other questionsLike most skin rejuvenation treatments, there may be some side-effects post-treatment and recovery from Plasma Pen. You must follow these important guidelines carefully if you wish to enjoy optimal results and protect your investment in Plasma Pen treatment. Although for most Plasma Pen treatment is virtually pain-free, your own treatment may be moderately uncomfortable and sensitive depending on where you are being treated – especially eyelid procedures where the skin is at its thinnest – and your own sensitivities and tolerances.
Before Your Treatment

  1. Avoid any kind of tanning (Spray tanning, tanning injections, sun tanning and tanning beds) for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment. Ideally, you should try to use SPF5O to prep your skin for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment, especially if you are naturally darker skinned. You may even wish to consider using a natural Tyrosinase Inhibitor to helps ensure there is no overproduction of pigment in the skin aka hyperpigmentation.
  2. Avoid any other type of procedures on the same area which you intend to have treated with Plasma Pen, such as laser therapy, chemical peels, Botox, fillers, as this may prevent your treatment being performed by your technician at the time you want it.
• No facial acids (Retin A, salicylic, glycolic) 14 days before or 21 days after Plasma Pen. • No Botox or fillers 21 days before or after Plasma Pen. • No Micro needling/PRP 21 days before or after Plasma Pen. • No laser or peels (depending on intensity of peel) for 90 days before or after Plasma Pen. • Surgical procedures like face lifts you must wait at least 9 months postop/before Plasma Pen. Immediately Following Treatment
  1. You may experience a “stinging” sensation in the treated area(s) immediately after treatment. This is normal and it generally only lasts for about an hour.
  2. If the treated area is swollen, you may apply ice packs covered with a clean cloth. Do NOT apply ice directly onto the skin, as this can cause damage to the tissue. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin, ibuprofen or steroids if possible.
  3. If you are receiving a Plasma Pen treatment anywhere on your face or neck, recommend you sleep on your back with your head elevated to reduce swelling.
  4. Do NOT cleanse the treated area until the following day.
  5. Do NOT exercise 48 hours after treatment or expose yourself to any heat, steam or sweat because this can intensify the inflammation that’s already present.
  6. Your technician will provide you with after care products and instructions. You must follow the provided aftercare protocol to expedite the healing process and avoid complications.
  7. The area that has been treated must NOT be covered dressing or any type of sunblock, make-up, mascara, creams or any other products until the area has fully healed.
Many ingredients in skin care products and cosmetics can irritate skin and cause allergic reactions. Ultimately this will slow you’re your healing process and possibly impede desired results.
  1. It is highly unlikely you will ever get an infection from a Plasma Pen treatment, as the wound caused is not open. However, the first 12 hours post-treatment is vital in protecting you from any potential infection, so please avoid any activities where you could expose yourself to contaminants. Keeping hands off of anything that comes in contact with the treatment area.
  2. You may return to work the following day. However, you will not look your absolute best during the initial healing process (approximately 7 days for eye area, The body and face can take longer. The new pink skin can take up to six weeks to reach it’s pre plasma state).
10. Expect redness, swelling and inflammation for the first 1 to 5 days post-treatment. This is normal the eye area can swell considerably if the plasma pen is used on a higher setting than recommended. Following Days After Your Treatment
  1. It is normal for the area that has been treated to be red/pink, swollen and feel tight and dry. Occasional weeping is normal and will settle.
  2. Tiny crusts will quickly form on the treated area. These may be visible for up to about a week.
  3. Do NOT pick crusts off as this will delay the healing process and could cause hyperpigmentation and scarring.
5.The area(s) treated may be cleansed daily with room temperature water or as I use water kefr and your fingers. Avoid using washcloths or any other washing devices. You are only removing excess oil and do not need to thoroughly cleanse the treated skin. Do NOT be tempted to rub, brush or exfoliate the area in any way to aid in the removal of the crusts, pat dry with a clean tissue.
  1. Do NOT stand with your face under a hot shower for the first 3-4 days. This could increase swelling. Try to avoid shower gels or hair products running on to your face as this could cause irritation and inflammation. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water if products do come into contact with the area(s) treated and gently pat dry.
  2. Avoid swimming or chlorinated water as it can increase irritation.
  3. Keep scabs/crusts moist by applying provided aftercare three times a day – but only in small amounts, do not soak the area.
  4. Men should avoid shaving the treated area until it is fully surafce healed (around 7 days).
10. If you have had treatment around your eyes, you should avoid wearing contact lenses for 72 hours after your treatment. 11. Once the scabs have fallen off (approximately 7 days), your skin may be a little pink. You may begin to apply your normal foundation/make-up/sunblock but avoid using skincare products containing glycolic/salicylic/retinoic/AHA/ scrubs or any other active exfoliating ingredients/devices for at least 21 days, as this will cause irritation. ABSOLUTELY NO MAKEUP UNTIL SCABS HAVE FALLEN OFF. 12. Avoid sun exposure. Once the scabs have fallen off, you must wear a physical sunblock (zinc & titanium) and a hat while your skin is in the healing stages (pink in colour) and you should continue to do so for at least the next 12 weeks to avoid hyperpigmentation. 13. Do NOT sunbath/sun tanning beds for 10–12 week post procedure. 14. Do NOT have any other facial treatments in the same treatment area while your skin is healing (12 weeks). 15. Do NOT wax treatment area for at least 21 days, if not longer. If you are receiving Plasma Pen treatment anywhere around the eyes, I would wait the full 12 weeks. It will be ok to tweeze or thread any unwanted hairs after scabs have fallen off the area. Other Important Aftercare Advice & Top Tips
  1. Avoid smoking and alcohol.
  2. Eat a whole food diet and avoid excess sugar to maximize results.
  3. On top of the immediate rejuvenation, lifting and tightening effects you will likely experience from Plasma Pen, it takes 8 to 12 weeks for the full effects of your treatment to be seen.
  4. If additional treatments are required, it will be necessary to wait until the skin completely heals (12 weeks).
5: Take a collagen supplement

I still have deep set wrinkles 6 months after. Never had them before. It is a horrible treatment and I’m now so self conscious.

Jacquic3 · 20/10/2019 20:35

Hi
I had the plasma pen treatment on my eyelids 2 days ago. I had the numbing cream first but the treatment was still very painful. I look like I have done 10 rounds with Tyson, extreme swelling around my eyes. My daughter said I look like an Avitar! I am hoping the results will be worth the pain and downtime but it is too soon to say. Glad to read some positive reviews cos tbh I'm a little worried.

Phoebesfleas · 21/10/2019 21:16

G5000 yes it is strange isn’t it. I used to be a regular at Perfect Skin Solutions and Dr Patel did my Botox and fillers, it’s a very pushy clinic, he tried to push Plexr onto me despite me not needing it, so relieved I didn’t try it after reading most of these posts. I now go to a fantastic GP for my aesthetics. I hope everybody’s issues involving Plexr are now resolved.

Livlib2 · 27/10/2019 12:32

Hi I’ve just had both upper and lower lids done 3 weeks ago.Lower eyes the results were amazing no more crepe skin and the hollow vastly improved.Upper lids had minimal results but still some lift of the lid. It’s still tender but otherwise I had a good result and experience.

Livlib2 · 27/10/2019 12:35

How do I post a pic I have my lower eyelid before and after

Jacquic3 · 27/10/2019 13:06

Not sure how to post pictures on here guys, any advice so I can post before and after? I'm now 10 days in, scabs all gone but the skin on my eyelids is still slightly indented were the scabs have fallen off. Can't see much improvement yet

Kenzie00 · 29/10/2019 00:44

I had the plasma pen in Feb this year, I am now left with deep putting around my eyes all the way down my cheeks to my mouth and around my lips.
The area around my left eye has dark pigmentation so now look like a constant black eye.
It has knocked my confidence so bad that I can't look people in the face anymore due to self conscious and anxiety.
I am now looking into going for compensation as I have tried chemical peels costing me 240 quid just to remove the pigmentation which hasn't even touched it.
Now looking for skin resurfacing which can cost into the thousands.
Frustrated and angry to say the least.
Do not go for this treatment.

Kenzie00 · 29/10/2019 00:46

Was meant too say deep pitting/ holes for every dot the pen did i now have thousands of holes in my face 9 months on.

ryanedwards · 12/11/2019 00:07

Hi there. I'm a guy who has just had plexr done and have joined mums net just so I can talk on this topic. I also regret having it done. I had my upper eyelids done which I believe have got infected as it feels like cutting glass every time I blink - so I'm thinking about going to my docs to get some steroid eye drops?!

Mimismummy01 · 03/04/2020 01:36

I’ve joined mumsnet just to comment on this thread! I can’t believe the bad reviews I’m reading! I got this done 2 weeks ago, it was fairly inexpensive (£140 for upper and lower). Must admit I didn’t research it much before and didn’t realise how bad it was going to look for at least a week. However after 2 weeks the difference is unbelievable, yes I have redness but each day it looks a little better. After a couple of days I just started bathing my eyes with warm water then putting childs farm cream on. I was hoping to post photos but can’t work out how. Please be aware for 2 days after you will look horrendous with swelling and scabs, although it looks painful personally I didn’t need any painkillers apart from about an hour after getting it done.

Ltc12 · 09/04/2020 01:19

Hello!
I’ve done plexr on my upper lid 4 months ago and I’m left with a «golf ball» effect, small indentations on the area.
I did everything like I was told (no sun, sunblock everytime I go out ...), but it doesn’t seem to be improving.

I’m terrified to be left like this forever.
I went to a good doctor with good reviews, the procedure went well. I spoke to him last week and he told me it was perfectly normal, i just need to be patient. But 4 months is a long time, I think!

But now I read your stories and others, with this indentations still there a year later !

I really hope someone can find an effective solution!

JM80 · 21/02/2021 20:14

Hi

I had Plexr done on my upper and lower lids 10 days ago. I feel so upset. I have indentations on my lids and my lower eyes just look older. I hate myself for doing this and now I feel worse than what I did before. Is there any hope at all? My skin is Asian and I also have a scar at the side of my eye and it has become worse, really dark and patchy now.

I also have pigmentation on my eyelids and you can actually see the imprints of the dots. Please no one do this. It isn't worth it.

Evie020 · 02/03/2021 21:35

Hi there I know your post is from a while ago. I noticed you said you had your treatment in Glasgow, do you mind if I ask where? Thank you

Evie020 · 02/03/2021 21:40

Hi @Busymum16 do you mind if I ask where in Glasgow you received your treatment please ?
Thank you

Busymum16 · 03/03/2021 08:53

Hi @Evie020. I think you're looking at the wrong comment, I didn't have my treatment done in Glasgow. Sorry.

Hoysin · 06/04/2021 20:44

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you all for posting about your experiences. Even though the post was started years ago, it has saved me from misfortune. I was about to book in for plasma treatment on my hooded eyelids. I'm so sorry to read of all the worry, pain and regret and I really hope you can sue these awful practitioners. I will not be booking this treatment, but if I hadn't read your comments, I would have done. So thank you very much and good luck with your recovery.

Frostynpg · 09/08/2023 16:30

Both my eyes were botched by plasma bleph not by scarring/indentations but by them becoming saggier looking. The first treatment improved my eyes for what i now put down to pure luck. The person doing the treatment didn't do the correct spaced dots technique but hit my whole eyelid with lines instead. After going back for what was planned to be the 2nd and last treatment my eyes started to get worse.

I decided to try another clinic and although the lady actually done the correct spaced dots technique my eyelids never improved. I came to the conclusion that maybe the whole of the eyelid isn't meant to be hit and only the upper half being hit would work. I asked for only the upper half of my eyelid to be hit at the next treatment and what do you know my eye actually started to improve. She was still hitting a little low for my liking so i have now purchased a plasma pen off ebay and have done one treatment myself with my eye improving even more. The attached picture is how the treatment should actually be done. There is absolutely no need to hit the whole eyelid, only the upper half or even less should be hit for a lift.
