My bags are really bad and I've been reading about 'plexr' a new, non invasive, soft surgery. Does anybody know anything it or had it done?

Honestly wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. Had this for tattoo removak. Ive been left with a raised, sire scare. No way in my face!!

L0laa · 12/10/2017 09:07

I've had it done twice and found it to be a great improvement.
It was £450 and that's for two sessions.
I found a good improvement just after one.
There was quite a bit of swelling afterwards for a few days but I would recommend it

Jorja2013 · 20/10/2017 00:39

This is the after effect plexr has left me, bearing in mind I am 34 and has dramatically aged my eyes!!! Burning skin makes the skin thinner and this is the effect! I just pray to god surgery will now help

Awwww ladies I am a skin specialist base in Richmond and have been reading through your posts. I am shocked so many of you have had a bad experience. I work with a plasma treatment (which is what plexr is) and get phenomenal results with very little downtime in comparison to what some of
You have been experiencing. I would be happy to discuss your concerns, and explain potential differences between systems with any of you to hopefully reassure you that you can get fantastic results with Plasma based treatments.

Busymum16 · 12/12/2017 09:20

Hi @Hails74. I had plexr done 2.5 weeks ago and am unfortunately experiencing scarring identical to what you described. Did you skin recover? Would you recommend any creams? So wished I had read this thread before going ahead with this treatment 😔

RachelStaggsaesthetician · 12/12/2017 09:39

I am sorry to hear you have had bad experiences. I am based in Richmond and would be happy to offer a complimentary consultation to have a look at the area and hopefully help the skin to recover with an amazing treatment that we offer. I work with a plasma based treatment and have had no problems with this

Hi Rachel. Thanks, but I'm actually up in Scotland, otherwise I might have taken you up on your offer......just a wee bit far for me to travel 😊

I know this post was a while ago but I am 4 weeks into this treatment and my upper and lower eyelids have turned brown where treated. The clinic say this discolouration is from UV exposure and because I’m dark skinned (I didn’t think so!) and is normal and will fade but even heavy makeup struggles to camaflage it so I’m a bit low to say the least! I saw a skin specialist separately who said it’s post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and needs topical treatment to help it fade. Any advice re healing it fast or your outcome appreciated.

Hi Angie

Where abouts are you based???? Can you come and see me????

Rachel

AngieBei · 29/12/2017 15:59

I’m in Nottinghamshire. I can send you photos. Really worried it’s not going away. It started getting darker about a week after the scabs came off and hadn’t changed in the past 10 days. My doc has prescribed Azelaic acid to slowly fade the pigmentation but the company responsible say not to use anything and it will fade eventually.

Busymum16 · 29/12/2017 16:05

I'm curious AngieBei. What did your doc say about you going for plexr treatment? I have other issues relating to mine, and worried about admitting to the doc what I've done tbh.

AngieBei · 29/12/2017 16:38

This was a private skin specialist I saw - I said doc cox it was easier than putting it in full. I tried to get into my own doc but no routine appts til 11th jan! And I don’t think my docs will have the experience of this treatment to know what they are looking at. The skin specialist works at a clinic that do peels so knows what healing skin after ‘burns’ looks like. Whilst I’d be embarrassed to tell my doc what I’ve done to myself if I thought they could help put it right I’d be there like a shot. I look awful and don’t have the confidence that it will get better yet as I haven’t seen any improvement.

Busymum16 · 29/12/2017 17:06

Ahh I see. I totally feel your pain though. I had my treatment done about the same time as you. I have been left with dreadful scarring around my eyes (pitted like a golf ball). Apparently it is the type of skin I have. I've been told only time will tell how it will heal, but I may need microneedling sessions. I was not warned about this beforehand. The other thing that is happening with me, is that I had so much swelling I think my immune system went into overdrive trying to cope with it all. I got a horrendous cold, which has resulted in real bad sores in my nose, which are incredibly sore and making me look like Rudolf 🤤 I do wonder if I now have an infection.

I completely and utterly regret getting this treatment done. I really wish I had thoroughly done my homework beforehand.

And I really hope you find something that helps you AngieBei. It's been a rotten Xmas, but I think it would be even worse trying to deal with this in the summer.

AngieBei · 29/12/2017 18:18

I still have every indentation too, some worse than others. The skin specialist said that would heal in time- we’ll see. I could live with it being pitted if my skin wasn’t so discoloured. It’s really hard to cover both. Weirdly I also have a cold and my eyes are watering all the time so wearing makeup is pointless and my eyes are constantly sore. I can only go on the stories from others that this gets better over time. The company that did mine insist I must have exposed my skin to UV without sunscreen to get the discolouration I have (I didn’t) but the skin specialist said my skin was too dark for the treatment at all. I’m trying to focus on the 3 month mark. Everyone says in another 2 months it will look better. Are you using anything on your skin meanwhile?

Sal5151 · 05/01/2018 08:19

This is really a useful thread, especially as I am considering the treatment.
@EyeEyeEye123, I sadly suspect this review was written by someone at or on behalf of the clinic provided in the clinic, and not a genuine response.
Thanks for genuine replies as I’ve got an appointment at a clinic next week for this treatment.

AngieBei · 05/01/2018 08:54

Having seen and spoken to a few people I think I can identify that in a lot of cases where it’s gone wrong we’ve been of the wrong skin type for the treatment. It seems to be ok for fair skinned people if done correctly but anyone of a Fitzpatrick type 4 or even possibly 3 is at risk of discolouration and slower healing. The others I spoke to who do the same treatment said they would not have treated me or certainly wouldn’t have without taking extra precautions such as patch test etc. They would also have told me it would be 12 weeks before any marks faded as a broad guideline. Be very careful of this treatment!

Sal5151 · 05/01/2018 09:11

Thanks AngieBei, that's good advice. I'm thinking of contacting the practitioner to say I've changed my mind and having second thoughts. I'm fair skinned but having read the very mixed reviews on here, am anxious it could potentially end up being far worse than a few wrinkles or hoods there!

I wish there was an eye cream out there that really really worked!!

Reviews are so important these days, especially with treatments like this so thank you :)

Ask them to do a skin patch test? Then you’ll know how you respond? Also go with a proper clinic. Mine was a self employed practitioner working from a beauty salon. Lots of salons are starting to do similar treatments now and they aren’t equipped to deal with issues even if the practitioner is highly trained. I wouldn’t do anything like this again. Whilst the marks have slightly faded I’m still wearing tons of makeup everyday and have been told some might be long term damage that will need other treatment. I’ve lost the last month of my life in worrying about this and can’t see the next two months will be any different. If it all fades I’ll count myself lucky and will never ever do this again! I have to say my daily skin routine made loads of difference to my eyes and face- visit a skin clinic and invest in things like BHAs, vitamin c serums, HA serums or retinols. Before this treatment my skin was amazing!

Busymum16 · 09/01/2018 09:37

Hi AngieBei.

Sorry for the delay in telling you what I have been using on my skin. Up until now it's mainly been Boots Scar Reduction serum. The person who did my treatment advised not using my normal moisturisers, as she said the skin needs to relearn how to moisturize itself, and not rely on moisturisers. However she has recommended ZO Daily Power Defence Moisturiser and Glycogent Serum. The place where I had my treatment done has just reopened after Xmas, so I'll speak to them also about the skin treatments/ingredients you've mentioned.

Out of interest I had a look at my skin type. I've always considered myself fairly pale skinned. According to the table I used, I'm Fitzpatrick 3.

I'm still not seeing any improvement with my scarring yet. Like you've said before, everyone talks about the skin needing 3 months to heal, so I'm really hoping things will be better by the end of Feb.

As a matter of interest, did you find the procedure painful? I thought it was excruciating (and I have a high pain threshold) I'm thinking the people who end up with problems feel the pain worse presumably due to their skin type?

AngieBei · 09/01/2018 10:04

Thanks for your reply. I’m finding everyday brings new challenges in finding a skincare routine that works. Some areas of my eyes get sore still by the end of the day and I don’t know if that’s the sunscreen, makeup or the skincare I’m using or I’m just not healed yet. It makes my upper eyelids particularly more red. I’ve pared back on using much so I can see what’s making it worse. It’s frustrating as I wanted to see more progress by now - week 6. I’m only using the Skinoren sparingly as I know the rest of my face tolerates that well. The rest is aloe Vera, hyaluronic acid serum and a fragrance free moisturiser as wearing so much makeup dries out my eyes. I think I need to use more of a skin barrier. I had one of my neck lines done at the same time. There’s no indentations left there but skin is almost as dark as my eyes. Fitzpatrick 3 and above are the risky skin types apparently. Yes I found it very painful even with topical numbing cream! I think I’d be ok with waiting out the 3 + months if I could see improvement, and I could cover it successfully. Here’s hoping for both of us!

AngieBei · 09/01/2018 10:22

The Boots serum you refer to is no longer stocked by the look of it. If you can still get it I’d be happy to buy some from you!

OutToGetYou · 09/01/2018 11:34

I expect Boots are just changing the packaging or something, this looks like old packaging, they've had this product for years, I have some at home.
Keep an eye on the website, or ask in store if they have any more information on it?
