I love looking at engagement rings. Does anyone want to share photos? It's not a boasting thread,my ring wasn't particularly expensive. Just for fun.

Mines a pink sapphire with little diamonds either side.

This is such a lovely thread. I haven't taken my ring off since DH proposed so it is a bit grubby but I love it so much (please excuse my chubby little sausage fingers)

More of a commitment ring than engagement as I don't intend marrying again
(I'm also very fond of opals!!!)

Mine's a brilliant cut diamond in a square setting with platinum band and matching wedding ring. Very plain, but 8 years on it still makes me happy when I look at it.

Meow I'm so sorry about your rings. I lost my original ones twice - both times people found them and I was reunited with them at a later date - one was Tescos car park!

So have hope, yours may well turn up and I sincerely wish they do. You will have to let us know - and post a picture when they do!

On the very small chance they don't, as I said upthread I had to sell mine some time ago and whilst they had great sentimental value, I realised it wasn't the rings that made my actual life better, it was the marriage. I bet this is small consolation to you though at the moment Thanks

Fingers crossed for you.

Engagement ring is a princess cut solitaire. I'd have probably have gone for something a bit more unusual or vintage pre engagement, but DH, whose usual approach to shopping is to buy the first vaguely appropriate item, went to a little local jewellers and picked the diamond and the setting all by himself. He had no prior knowledge about jewellery and really did his research. I was so touched that he'd gone to that amount of time and effort.
Wedding ring is just plain band, we had matching ones made at the same jewellers, DH is twice the thickness of mine. They're made from palladium as it's harder wearing than white gold and doesn't need re coating (fraction of the price of platinum too!!).
Eternity ring was given to me on an anniversary shortly after the birth of DS. It's a half band of brilliant cut and baguette diamonds, again all diamonds and the setting selected by my now expert DH, based on a ring I had previously seen and commented on.
I luffs them all.

My engagement ring is gorgeous, I picked it myself and as soon as I saw it, I knew! It's white gold with three diamonds, and has two hearts underneath. I love it. It was on sale and quite cheap (lets say £150 or so), and when we went back to pick it up from resizing a few weeks later, we saw the same one in the cabinet priced at £999 Shock We were skint students so that was amazing. The middle stone came loose after a month and it had to go back to be fixed, I was bereft! All fine now but I check them regularly.

My wedding ring also has three diamonds. DH says he doesn't understand why I need so many diamonds on one finger Grin I was planning on getting a plain band but it was roughly the same price and I fell in love straight away.

I've had the engagement ring for five years and the wedding ring for three. Love them both, never (can't, since DD) take them off.

At risk of outing myself, here are mine. My engagement ring belonged to my Gran and is engraved with her and my Papa's initials and the date of their engagement.

One month old. Sort of Art Deco vibe, emerald cut. I love it. I love rose gold but mostly wear silver otherwise so went for platinum (to avoid having to replate white gold). It's from 77 diamonds and can't see a wedding ring that suits on their website - any suggestions???

Claralane, love yours. Love Rose Gold!

FuckOffJeffrey · 12/12/2015 13:32

I chose my ring myself. It wasn't expensive but I had very specific requirements and searched for ages to find it. I dislike the way big chunky / bulky rings like solitaries look on my long skinny fingers and I wanted something delicate with a flat set diamond (I would have chosen emerald or ruby in place of diamond if the ring had the right look).

I have been searching for the right eternity ring to complete the set but haven't found the perfect one yet. I've see a couple with the right look but they are just too bulky on my finger.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/12/2015 13:48

SorrelForbes yours is lovely. May I be cheeky and ask was it expensive ?
I'm not in the UK but heard the Birmingham Jewelery district has good value.
I'm in the market for a ring, unsure of budget.

I got the wedding ring out just to take a photo then put it away again (getting married in summer 2016).

Both were fairy cheap in jewellery terms at less than £1k for both from hsamuel. It terrifies me that I'm pretty much always walking around with more on my finger than in the bank though.

I chose 9 carat yellow gold because it is cheaper than other metals and doesn't need re coating. The rings from my first marriage were white gold and needed re playing very quickly.

OMG - just googled aquamarine engagement ring on google images and after scrolling down a bit I saw what looked like my ring on my hand resting on my sofa.

Checked the site and it's clearly my taste doppelgänger!

My ring top, strangers ring bottom...
