I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

SOTD - 4160 Tuesdays "Be Careful What You Wish For"
Its a fruity oudh - can is lasting very well.

cressetmama · 08/01/2016 12:41

There's a whole lotta love out there for 4160 Tuesdays' newer scents. May have to try again this year with some of them, but the ones I had all smelled similar after a few hours and I didn't like the base note oil on my skin. Has that changed? Which should I try? The names alone are wonderfully intoxicating.

MissBattleaxe · 08/01/2016 12:59

I agree that the base of several 4160 scents smells similar but I find the following were a departure from that and I love them all:

Doe in the Snow, Ealing Green, Fruits of the Tree of Knowledge, Raw Silk and Red Roses, Goddess of Love and Perfume and Maxed Out

I cannot get on with Lady Rose Lion, Evil Max, Sexiest Scent or Shazam. Her latest range, Crimes of Passion, is her best yet I reckon.

hollinhurst84 · 08/01/2016 15:02

See I adore Shazam and sexiest scent Grin

LovelyFriend · 08/01/2016 16:52

"Be Careful What You Wish For" has lasted on me very well all day, developing beautifully and I love it. It is much fruitier that anything I've worn before - perhaps all the fruit is balanced out by the oudh?

I do like Shazam, but it doesn't last on me at all.

I tried Maxed Out last night - it is more like an after shave scent wise. I'm undecided on it.

I love love love The Lion Cupboard - I think my fav of her's though sillage could be better - it's a close scent and quite different.

Also love the Dark Heart of Old Havana, which is sweet and heady and rich and intense.

MissB I agree with your on Lady Rose Lion Unicorn - I will give this to my DD. Far to "sweet" for me which is ironic considering I love Havana.

flightywoman · 08/01/2016 17:04

I am still LOVING my Au Dela Narcisse des Montagnes! Not much departure from it as I just love it so much!

CointreauVersial · 08/01/2016 17:22

Handslike - that Crabtree & Evelyn sounds lovely, but ouch, the price! I thought C&E was usually mid-range!

4160 Tuesdays I have quite a few of, but I also find them a bit weak and fleeting. I just wish they had a bit more oomph. My faves would be Sunshine & Pancakes, Lion Cupboard (but I have to bathe in it before I can smell it on me) and Dark Heart of Old Havana, but I'm a bit more "meh" about A Kiss by the Fireside, Sexiest Scent and Shazam.

The Crimes of Passion sound really interesting - I might have to order a few samples.....

SOTD is Burberry for Women. An oldy but a goody - warm woody cosy peachy.

MissBattleaxe · 08/01/2016 17:26

Crabtre and Evelyn do a fabulous cologne called West Indian Lime. I could marinate in it, it's gorgeous.

I find some 4160s leave me cold, but there's so much variety it would be weird if I liked everything. I think she's started a new chapter with the latest lot. I love Goddess enough to buy a full bottle. I just have samples and purse sprays at the moment.

CointreauVersial · 08/01/2016 17:35

MrsB - I have tried West Indian Lime a few times - yes, it is fab. M&S sell it.

Stokey · 08/01/2016 20:56

I like Ealing Green too MissB especially in the summer, but also like Sexiest Scent. I wonder if they're just skin scents. I blind bought Kiss by the Fireside which is probably the most disappointing one I've tried.

I do love her business model and the affordability of them though so may well get more!

LovelyFriend · 08/01/2016 22:27

I really liked "Time to Draw the Raffle Numbers" but I think it has been discontinued. It was another wonderful "tobacco" tinged scent - to celebrate Bradley Wiggan's won of TdF.

cressetmama · 09/01/2016 15:28

I shall try some of the new ones. A perusal of the website on Monday perhaps. Filthy day here, so maybe a good time to luxuriate in oudhs or woods while drinking tea and eating Christmas cake.

cardoon · 09/01/2016 16:23

I got 3 free samples with my first order (ealing green) and 6! with my second order ( what I did on my holiday) - beautifully packaged and lovely personal service. Love EG, have not tried WIDOMH yet as I was down town and am covered various Sisleys.

getoffthattabletnow · 09/01/2016 16:55

Jo Malone's Nutmeg and Ginger plus Gingembre by Roger and Gallet is SOTD.Wanted something warming to watch DD do Cross Country today.Luckily it wasn't as rainy or as chilly as it could have been.
My favourite 4160 perfume is Urura's Tokyo Cafe. But I think the names been changed to Tokyo Blossom ( or similar).I would also love to try the Red Roses one.A lot of them don't sadly work on me .I do love Sarah McCartney's enthusiasm though and their Sample Packs are so pretty - like Bonbons.

CointreauVersial · 09/01/2016 19:22

I've gone 80s retro today, with a couple of squirts of CK Obsession as I was walking around Debenhams this afternoon. Ahh, takes me back....I am really tempted to buy a bottle as I still love it.

I wanted to try Clinique Aromatics in Black, but the tester was empty. The bottle smelled interesting, though.

TheToys · 09/01/2016 19:29

Organza Indecense today. Possibly the smoothest most rounded perfume I know.

MrsCocoa · 09/01/2016 22:23

SotD Vanilla D'Iris, Ormonde Jayne. Does what it says on the tin. Pleasant enough, but rather thin and with very little staying power.

MissBattleaxe · 09/01/2016 22:27

Obsession is fab. Aromatics in Black is a bit me so you didn't miss much!

MissBattleaxe · 09/01/2016 22:27

Meh not me

CointreauVersial · 09/01/2016 23:11

Well, I read about it on a certain blog Wink......and thought I'd have to try it for myself, as I am rather partial to Aromatics in White.

MissBattleaxe · 10/01/2016 11:23

Oh shucks cointreau Blush

cressetmama · 10/01/2016 13:03

SoTD is Y. It's an ancient (1990s I think) bottle, bought in a sale after they changed the packaging. I've loved it since 1980-whenever when I bought a FB unsniffed in TK Maxx in NYC for $5. This is about bottle three; I have rarely been without some. Post-reformulations, it is not what it once was but still lovely.

MrsCocoa · 10/01/2016 18:45

SotD: Fragonard's Vetivert. Tried on the run whilst passing through M&S beauty hall. Really like it - easy to wear and uplifting and less of a 'silver back in the board room' vibe that TF's Grey Vetiver.

TheToys · 10/01/2016 21:43

Bvlgari Black today. One of my faves. But a lazy pick. I really need to scale down and/or rearrange my cupboards so that I don't end up just using the stuff I can easily reach.

MrsCocoa · 11/01/2016 22:50

Heard Paul Smith earlier paying tribute to David Bowie: so SotD is London.
