Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

Finished a mini Liz Earlesuperskin moisturiser. I liked it as a night cream, so may repurchase one day. Am going to wash out the pot for filling and taking on holiday as even though it's tiny I reckon I will get two weeks from it.

FreeButtonBee · 14/06/2016 13:56

I may have purchased the M&s beauty box.

FreeButtonBee · 14/06/2016 13:57

I am now wearing perfume every day in the vain hope j get to buy a new one before the end of the summer. Haven't done much body moisturising. Must get back to it. Still 30000000009 to use up.

FiveShelties · 15/06/2016 10:37

Another empty, only 35ml though, but still empty - Vaseline Intensive Care Moisturiser. I really like this, sinks in very quickly and I would re-purchase if I did not have a queue of lotions, butters etc to take its place.

lurkingfromhome · 15/06/2016 12:07

I finished an Estee Lauder Take it Away cleanser last night. Only had two squirts left and I have another one lined up to take its place but small victories and all that ...

The M&S Beauty Box is an investment purchase, Free. At least that is what I tell myself each time I buy one.

IPokeBadgers · 15/06/2016 13:45

I'm pleased with myself, I have rationally decided not to buy the M&S beauty box because I don't need it.

I may or may not be furious that I spent a fortune in M&S a few weeks ago and have no need of anything, so cannot justify additional spending in order to get this

To be fair, I spent a fortune in Boots last week doing "the holiday shop" - suncream, earplugs, immodium, and other sundries including expensive shampoos and conditioners for my newly highlighted hair. Because none of the shampoo in the house was acceptable.

I just finished a sample Creme de la Mer moisturising soft cream... Am I the only person who is not impressed with this brand? Am going to check youtube to see if there are any reviews...

StewardsEnquiry · 16/06/2016 13:01

I have to confess that I have bought the M&S beauty box. But, but..... it is a good buy for me! It has some really nice looking things in it. I was buying stuff I needed anyway for the £40 spend. And I like swapping products frequently so having loads of little trial sizes is actually my idea of heaven! Plus I have never tried a Beauty box from M&S (though I can imagine they are going to become a bit of a habit now).

Also have an empty to report, which is No7 Essentially Natural Foundation. Sort of a tinted moisturiser, just light coverage. It was meh. But I have persevered with it so now I can use my lovely Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser guilt free.

StewardsEnquiry · 16/06/2016 13:16

Also one use away from finishing a Nuxe oil. I have been using it as a body moisturiser. I do like it, the smell is divine. I love dry oil, too. So convenient to use. I have a little one in the M&S box, but before I go on to that I am going to try something different. See, I like variety. Even if I love something I get bored and want to try something else.

kwick · 16/06/2016 19:55

Not sure whether to be happy or sad...

I have finished a big tub of Emma Hardie Moringa cleansing balm. Liked it a lot, removed all my makeup. Fantastic first cleanse. I have a Clinique Take The Day Off to try next.

I have just painted my nails with the Nails Inc Gel One Coat in the M&S beauty box. Lovely formula - i really is one coat. The pink is a good colour for summer too. A slightly corally pink.

applesandpears33 · 17/06/2016 18:28

Got another empty - a protect and perfect moisturiser with SPF 15. There was another one waiting in the cupboard though.

kwick · 17/06/2016 21:32

steward any recommendations for the second cleanse?

FrustratedFrugal · 19/06/2016 16:49

Used up during a trip:
One single-use beauty ampoule
Two sheet masks
A mini toothpaste

StewardsEnquiry · 19/06/2016 20:37

Kwick - I haven't got the perfect second cleanse yet. I like a cream cleanser for the second cleanse but the one I am using at the moment stings a tiny bit when I put it on. I have the Ren clay cleanser to try next for the second cleanse. Will let you know what that is like when I get to it. If anyone has found a really lovely cream cleanser that is super gentle I will be interested to give it a go!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/06/2016 20:56

I used up the dregs of a Good Things Honey face mask this morning (cut it open with scissors)

Put a Mango Bodyshop showergel in the shower to use up before I get too stuck into the Pink Grapefruit.

Took DD to Bluewater, they had the HUGEST NYX display Hurrah Grin

DD was like a dog with two tails. I limited her to four things to try out (I;m sure she'll be back)

Need to get the Under the Sink collection of shampoo sorted (I have banned buying any new hair products apart from my henna)

FreeButtonBee · 19/06/2016 21:56

Still working through the beauty flash balm. Man it never ends (have been pretty slack in skin care generally though so own fault). Will have to get the scissors out tomorrow and hopefully that will be the end of it.

About 4 mini bottles of body lotion on the go. Can't wait to finish them and get rid. Although I seem to have stated hoarding my empties like one of those deluded you tuber bloggers. All in a box, waiting for what, I don't know! But it makes me strangely happy so who cares!

Opened my bioderma micellar water and defo prefer it to the garnier one. It leaves less of a film on my skin and feels lighter. I think it's a new must have product having now tried the cheaper alternative

lurkingfromhome · 19/06/2016 22:38

I am packing for holidays. All those sachets of shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser will be GONE by my return.

I noted with irony that the smallest sachet of something a bit meh seems to last forever while my lovely and very expensive bottle of Liquid Yoga was gone in three baths. Argh.

Ememem84 · 20/06/2016 07:45

Am back on the palmers gradual tan moisturiser.

It's great (for moisturising and the smell is lovely - cocoa butter). But it streaks so am worked that I'll be a bit patchy. But my legs are so pale I don't care!!

Perfume is being worn and used up. I bought an atomiser a while back and am refreshing perfume during the day at work. Something I wouldn't have usually done as couldn't be arsed carrying a giant bottle with me.

Have been away this weekend and used up some clarins miniatures. Helpfully though the bottles look easy enough to refil so will keep them for travelling.

IPokeBadgers · 20/06/2016 10:32

I seem to have stated hoarding my empties

FreeButtonBee - I did this for a while after starting this thread: it gave me a boost to see how much I had actually finished up in, say, the first three months of mindful usage - as well as encouraging me to go on reducing the miscellaneous spending.

I ended up taking a photo and posting it on here, which sort of "gave me permission" to bin the empties. Although if you are just starting you could keep all the empties for a year, as it would then give you a realistic benchmark of how many products you use up (on average) over a 12 month period....

I've finished a perfume - Estee Lauder Modern Muse. I have half of a Pleasures bottle left and that's my lot on the perfume front.

I have acquired a new hand cream to add to my stash, but it is my favourite Crabtree & Evelyn one, and it was half price.

Really scraping the barrel now, but I've used up a sachet of moisturizer too. I am getting fed up of not finishing anything quick enough, despite slathering myself in moisturiser daily, doing a hair masque every week and using hand cream religiously. I'm getting so bored, even though I am only using 50 ml miniatures of most things. May have a bath tonight and use lashings of molton brown bubbles.

FrustratedFrugal · 20/06/2016 16:51

I've also hit a boring, stationary phase. Full-size products are enormous and when the weather is warm, I wear drastically less makeup. The only interesting thing is that I have rediscovered blue eye shadow. Nothing drastic, just a very subtle lid wash and a brighter one worn as an eye liner. I am also trying to use up two lipsticks, a bright one and a bronze-toned one.

kwick · 20/06/2016 18:13

stewards I have a few on the go right now:
First cleanse: Body Shop camomille cleansing oil (butter version is in my travel bag); coconut oil
Second cleanse: Superdrug vitamin E hot cloth cleanser (really mild and softening), Superdrug brightening hot cloth cleanser (also great), loreal age perfect cleanser (contains salycylic acid so more intense)
I like to mix it up!!!

free I agree it is Bioderma all the way!!! I am actually considering starting to vlog on You Tube... I get SUCH joy watching others on there even though I get incredibly jealous of the massive hauls they make wish I had that much money!!!

DustyBottoms · 20/06/2016 20:13

Can I join too?

I think I have a problem. It doesn't help that I work for a beauty retailer and I'm a make up artist so I justify the embarrassing amount of stuff in hoarding by saying its for work!

FiveShelties · 21/06/2016 09:52

Welcome DustyBottoms - I can see it would be very easy to end up with a huge collection of proucts it you work for a beauty retailer and are a make up artist.

I have just finished an Olay Complete Day Fluid. I have a No 7 Protect & Perfect to use next, although I think I may work through a few samples first.
